The handles don't get hot when exposed to heat and they are solid, heavy glass, not thin like other glass lids. Le Creuset is always offers good quality kitchenware and definitely worth the money. This lid is awesome. It fits pretty nicely over the LeCreuset 9.5" enameled frying pan and because of the Balti's shape it doesn't fit snugly over it, but will make a great lid to put on top while simmering something or just to cover the pan as it cools. I ordered this lid to go with my 3.5 QT Le Creuset braiser- don't always want an 8 lb lid in the mix when cooking on the stove. Having read the reviews I wasn't sure if the 11" or the 12" Le Creuset option would seat properly. Ordered and received it in 3 days, thank you Prime Ice Cream Truck for grown ups! Tried it immediately to see if it would fit. It does!! Hooray! Quality isn't what I would expect from Le Creuset but it will work for the stove top as needed.
