The media could not be loaded. As a designated diagnostician/mechanic amongst my family and friend group, I have been looking for a full-featured scan tool capable of reading codes from all vehicle systems and doing bidirectional control tests of key components. This tool has definitely filled that need and has some additional convenient features as well. The wireless VCI is very nice, as I can move to the engine compartment and around the vehicle where I need to be and set up to observe results of bidirectional controls. Included with the VCI is the OBD2 cable, a USB cable to connect directly from the VCI to the scan tool (without Bluetooth), and a few options to connect 12v power the VCI if a different connector/adapter is being used for diagnostics. Because I will be using mostly the OBD2 cable, I now leave the DB9 to OBD2 cable on the VCI all the time and store it in the "lid" of the case. This is less secure than removing the OBD2 cable and storing the VCI in the foam cutout, but because I don't travel much with the tool it works for me. I have included a couple pictures of the paper showing the non-16 pin adapters and their applications. Each of these adapters has the DB9 connector on it so that it can be connected to the VCI. I will not have much need for these adapters, but it's good to have them in case I come across a vehicle that does not use OBD2 for diagnostics. On to actually using the tool. On newer vehicles, the device decodes the VIN and you only have to select the area and specific options before accessing the diagnosis menu. If the VIN can not be decoded, you will have to input vehicle and powertrain information manually to access all features. Once the vehicle information is populated, the default system selection screen shows ECU topography. If you are not familiar with all of the ECU abbreviations on a vehicle, you can switch to a system list to see and select the ECU you need to diagnose. One of my favorite features will scan the whole vehicle to detect what ECUs are responding, and will also scan each ECU for DTCs. A system will show as green if it is responding with no DTCs, red if the ECU responded with DTCs, and grey if the system is not responding. The system can also be selected to show which DTCs are present without entering advanced diagnostics, which is helpful in tracking down what DTCs may be related to other systems and choosing the best starting point. I have gotten a chance to explore some of the service functions and bidirectional controls on a few vehicles, and so far I am impressed with what is available. I have used the Subaru rear brake maintenance mode, and performed active tests on GM body ECUs, including mirror and window activation, and horn relay commands. Equally impressive is access to Cummins ECM functions such as cylinder balance tests and injector tests. I have included some pictures of available tests on Dodge with the Cummins engine, and of some of the advanced OBD mode selections. In conclusion, despite a few menu options that are not necessarily intuitive to understand, this tool is not one I am likely to outgrow any time soon, and will definitely help with getting precise component diagnosis on all the makes and models I work on.

The media could not be loaded. I was overly impressed with the quality of this scanner. First, it comes in a very sturdy, heavy duty carrying case. It is perfect for transporting to or storing in your shop. The adapters also come in a rugged case to keep them safe. The scanner is cased in a rugged rubber shell to protect the tablet. It has a kick stand on the back to set up on your work bench, tool box, or dashboard. It offers a wide variety of diagnostic tests and options for performing vehicle repairs. I highly recommend this tablet. It is a great value for the cost of the device.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this tool recently and was very impressed with its coverage and functionality. I used it on my personal 2013 Transit Connect and it controlled the High speed fan without issues. I also like that you can have it in landscape and portrait mode by simply turning the tool in the orientation you like. So far I am loving it and plan to put it in rotation with my other scan tools.

This scan tool does 95 percent of what a factor scan tool can do and even more. Working on a Toyota I was able to see all my ROB data in one place and clear in one place. Where with the factory scan tool you have to go into each ECU one by one. It also runs automatic secondary air injection test and evap test. I love the topology as well too. 10/10 would buy again!

So far, I've programmed key fobs on my chevy truck and performed battery matching on a 22 vw. The interface is different than what I'm used too. But is pretty user friendly. Looking forward to using it more!

I've been working on a few NPR/WT trucks for a while, and they are always somewhat hard to get into without factory level scan tools. This particular truck had an ABS light on the dash, and I tried several other scan tools to help me diagnose the cause. Neither my Autel ULTRA, TOPDON, ThinkCar S10 or even my CanDo HD Pro would get into this module to tell me what was going on. Jumping the ABS pins on the DLC gave me code 33. Looking up codes for this module on ProDemand, AllData and Identifix showed nothing, and googling it, I found that code 33 could indicate a bad Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor issue. I used my oscilloscope on the Autel ULTRA and scoped all four wheel speed sensors. They all tested good at the wheels. So I then tested the same signal at the ABS module, and they all tested the same there as well. Hmm.. I was told that the Launch X431 Pro could also do heavy duty vehicles, so at the price, it looked like another good tool to have in the arsenal. Not every scan tool is good at every make, and this proves my point. I connected the X431Pro to the truck, and with little drama, it confirmed what I had assumed at this point. The ABS module and pump on this truck has failed. I further confirmed that all power and grounds were good at the module, and that the communication between the ABS module and ECM were functioning properly. On a truck of this vintage, especially in the rust belt, you don't want to have to try to remove brake lines if you don't have to. In this case, I will still have to, but now I can feel confident that my other diagnostics proved out my other testing and sure enough, a new ABS Pump/Module solved the issue. Thank you Launch for making a great tool that can do Automotive and HD truck diagnostics, at a fraction of the price others are charging for the same capability. I will keep my eye on new Launch tools, and if you are on the fence, I say go for it!

This is an absolutely amazing scan tool. For the price you pay you get so many features. Will it beat a Zues? No but it does things a Zues can't. Ecu coding, yes, immo support, yes, obd 1, yes, and much more. You can use a lot of add ons such as a videoscope, battery tester, printer, and a few others. I highly recommend this product.
