I’ve been using this LAUNCH X431 scanner for about a month now, and I have to say—it’s exceeded my expectations. It handles multiple makes and models without any issues, and the diagnostic capability is surprisingly deep for the price. It gives me full access to all major systems: engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, etc. Reads codes, pulls live data and freeze frames, and runs active tests without a hitch. I like gadgets and buy lots of tools. This is just another tool I use to fix my cars. It's not a magic device that tells you how to fix the car, but gives you valuable info on where to look. I have many other ODB2 scanners from the $19 code readers, $99 Bluetooth scanners to $800 Bi-Directional scanners. I like this one as it's not bluetooth and just plain works when it's hooked up. The Bluetooth ones sometimes don't connect to the phone and then the phone screen is small and hard to read when running multiple live data feeds on the screen. This screen is large and bright which is good for us old guys that need glasses. It updated the firmware, software and data once I connected it to wi-fi and was a painless process. The screen is bright and clear. All my cars are pre-2005 so it didn't read the Vin automatically but that was expected, non of my scanners pick up these Vins. The OBD scanner market is getting crowded with many companies and it's good for us as it keeps the prices lower as they compete. There is a learning curve on these scanners as each company has their own menu system and way of doing things and terminology. Youtube is a valuable tool on learning how to use new products with review videos. The manual is a little small and covers the basics and I wish it had more info but most other scanners are basic as well. It would be great if there was a link to some training videos for newbies. I just turned this back on after a week and there are 5 new manufacture updates which means they are keeping this current. They have a Mall feature where you can purchase what they call full function for a brand of car. So if you only drive GM's, this could be a nice add-on. Why buy a scanner more expensive that has all the companies included when you need only one or two. There is a Demo mode under the diagnose feature that lets you play with various brands to see what data is retrieves, very cool. Definitely give this a try to learn this units capabilities. It also has a history feature that shows the codes from previous uses and so you don't have to type the Vin of that car again when you have an older car that it doesn't read the vin automatically. This scanner is definitely worth a look.

its a really solid scan tool-does like 95%of what i need it to do.super easy to use, the topology view is such a nice bonus, mu old one did not have that at all. and the battery life is great. i use it all day, evey day, and onky need to charge in once a week. its quick, its got bluebooth,if needed there also is a wire available. highlyrecommend this scanner

I've been really happy with this Launch scanner. It's heavy, rugged, and fast. Perfect for my shop environment. The bi-directional control makes diagnosing systems super quick-literally takes me about five minutes to figure out what's going on. VAG guided functions are a nice bonus too. They take a lot of the guesswork out of more complicated coding tasks. Saves time bay after day.

This CRP123XPlus Scan Tool by LAUNCH, is a great diagnostic tool, that can do so many helpful things, it has its strengths and also its weaknesses to think about. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – It looks and feels like a solidly built tool out of good materials. The LED screen is bright and responsive to the touch. The hard plastic and rubber shell provides good protection. I’d put it in the upper-middle level of the quality scale and guess that it should hold up well over time, assuming the electronics survive. II. Performance – This is a great machine if you want to be able to access multiple vehicles with the same device. With over 150 makes and 100,000 models it has most vehicles. It won’t go as deep or allow as much control on any single vehicle as if you get one specific for that vehicle. However, it’ll do a good amount of things you might need and provides a lot of usability for diagnosis and testing, you wouldn’t normally have access to. The 6100mAh battery and connectivity through the cable, have worked great so far. It comes with a 5in screen that’s sufficient for the job without having tinny print and the touchscreen in very responsive. Unfortunately, it only comes with 3 resets, but hopefully that can be increased through upgrades that are obtainable through Wi-Fi. III. Updates – Keep in mind that it’ll cost extra to update the device after 2 years, if you need it. It’ll still work and give you access to your last updated info, but you can’t get future updates and changes without paying. For me updates would only matter if I got a newer car then was available with my last update. Not much else changes over time, except maybe recalls. Overall, this is a solid scan tool that has worked wonderful for my needs so far. With this device and my mechanical abilities, I can take care of most things at home if I choose to and that’s an amazing time and money saver. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it. You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. Hopefully it was helpful in your decision.
