This is not the largest scanner. I has a small screen. It is not cordless, you have to plug the cable into your OBD2 connector. But it may be the best choice for GM vehicles. Unlike many of the larger and more expensive scanners, this one reads all components, runs all services, and performs all calibrations for GM vehicles. Nothing is left out. Other brands and models pick and choose which services to include. It seems like the better scanner would be ranked by how many services it performs. But there is a catch. A scanner may claim it does 45 services; however, it may not to 45 services for your vehicle. In fact, it may not do 45 services for any one vehicle. It is rated by how many different services it can perform over all of the supported manufacturers, brands, makes and models. Since this scanner comes loaded with software for only GM, it does not make any sacrifices. It simply does it all. You an add other manufacturer products, but it will be on a yearly subscription basis. If you use this scanner for more than a year, the subscription cost for other brands may be more than the cost of this scanner. Instead, I get a separate Creader designed for each brand I service. That way there are no suprises. Since this has lifetime updates, it will service ALL GM vehicles that have been manufactured so far (OBD2 only) and it will get updates for new models, as well as updates to improved services as they are developed. There are limitations in terms of add-ons. You cannot attach oscilloscope, key programmers, TPMS programmers or other components. For that you will need higher cost scanners. But having the Creader means you can be sure that every service which can be performed thru the OBD2 on your car is covered.

I picked up this scanner mainly to work on my Chevy truck. It connects quickly to the trucks computer and picks up the VIN right away without me having to type anything in manually. The bidirectionel features work as advertised, letting me run tests on components like the fuel pump and power windows directly from the handset. Having full system access for all the control modules has saved me a few trips to the mechanic already. The lifetime updates over wifi are a huge bonus since you don't have to plug it into a PC to get the latest software. Setup was mostly straightforward, though navigating through all the menus took a little bit of getting used to. For doing resets and clear codes, it gets the job done without any lag or freezing issues. My main issue with it is the size of the display. The screen is really small and hard to read now that I am in my 50's. I find myself constantly squinting or searching around the garage for my reading glasses just to see the live data stream. If the font was bigger or if the display had a bit more screen real estate, this would easily be a five star tool.

Professional-Level GM Scanner with Real Support This is a LAUNCH scanner, and one of the things I appreciate about the brand is having a real warranty and technical support I can actually contact if I run into a problem. That's particularly important to me with a more advanced diagnostic tool where vehicle compatibility and available functions can vary. This goes considerably beyond a basic OBD2 code reader and offers full OE-level diagnostics for supported GM vehicles. Being able to access systems beyond the engine, view live data, perform service resets, and use bidirectional controls makes this much more useful for actually diagnosing a problem rather than simply reading and clearing a check-engine light. At $189.99 (price at time of order), this is getting into professional diagnostic-tool territory, but so are its capabilities. The lifetime Wi-Fi updates are also important since I don't want a diagnostic tool that requires another subscription just to keep using what I already have.

This LAUNCH Creader Elite X500 was easy to use and worked well with my Chevy. It connected without any issues and was able to read the diagnostic code quickly. I like having a scanner on hand so I can check codes myself without immediately having to take the vehicle to a shop. Overall, it has been a useful and easy-to-use diagnostic tool at a great price.
