  • Pretty good for the price - I'm no expert but bag probably suitable for levels below amateur
Item Package Quantity: 1
To set expectations I am not a pro, amateur, or boxer of any kind really. I bought this bag simply to use for a workout and to release some aggression. I was looking for an inexpensive bag and this seems to be a good choice so far. I've been using this daily for about 1 week so far. Here are the PROs: 1 - It was inexpensive compared to other options on Amazon 2 - You fill it yourself so you can control the weight; I filled mine with old t-shits and towels which works pretty good but is still very light so it moves quite a bit when hit. If you want a heavier feel you'll need to add sand in addition or a denser filling instead of cloth. The lighter material actually makes it easy for me to connect and disconnect before & after workouts so the bag is not on permanent display which I like so I haven't changed it yet. 3 - It comes with it's own swivel so you don't need to buy a swivel mount; I originally bought a swivel mount bracket but switched to a strap hanger afterwards (strap hanger was cheaper and extended length a bit, see CONs below) Here are the CONs: 1 - The bag is small...both in length and circumference. I know the dimensions are posted in the description but I was still a bit surprised when I saw it in person. This turned out not to be a big deal for me and may not be a big deal for you either but a few things to consider: the small bag may constrain the weight you can add if you want a really heavy bag and the length may limit what mounting mechanism you can use. I am 5'11" with high ceilings, when I originally mounting this using a bracket mount directly to the ceiling stud the bottom of the bag pretty much hung eye level for me. I switched to a hanging strap mount to add some length to solver the problem but something to consider for your purchase. 2 - The material doesn't seem to be of any high quality. It's king of like a burlap sack, definitely not leather or any other soft or non-abrasive material. You'll definitely need some good gloves to hit this otherwise it will probably shred your hands. The stitching on it also doesn't give me the impression that it will stand the test of time (came out of the box with some pulls, stretching, and many stray strands). That's just my initial impression but time will tell. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase so far. In total for the bag and hanging strap, using some old clothes as filling, I got this bag fully setup for less than $40. It doesn't seem like it will last forever but it does appear sturdy enough to last for a while and is good enough to get me started on some new workouts to see how I like it. ... show more

  • If you plan ahead, this bag is a good buy!
Item Package Quantity: 1
Buyers' Notes: •Size is good for those only concerned with boxing. •Seems to be made of good canvas and stitching. •Dimensions (bag only from seam to seam): 11 inches (diameter), 31 inches (height). •Chain Length (effective, when hung): 16½ - 17 inches •Volume: ≈ 1.7 cubic inches Potential Drawbacks: •Canvas material may be a concern for those who wish to or must have the bag hung outdoors (e.g., mildew, mold). •Keep in mind you may spend more to fill and outfit your bag, if doing-it-yourself is not already an advantage. As normally recommended, I'd duct tape the bottom and the seams as a precautionary measure. First, the measurements of the bag are correct if the bag is laid flat. For me, finding out the actual dimensions of the bag was unappealing since I bought the bag with the said dimensions in mind. This leaves you with about 1.7 cubic inches of volume to pack the bag. I was unable to get the bag to above 30 lbs with clothing alone, so expect to fill it with other material if you want it heavier. I also decided to place carpet along the walls for padding and duct taped the bottom of carpet to help prevent the bottom from stretching or breaking apart. I did not particularly like the vinyl. Although there is nothing particularly wrong with it, I am sensitive to particular smells of synthetic material, which this one was one. The zipper is located across the diameter of the top, therefore stuffing and unstuffing the bag is a minor exercise of tedium. I have not had any problems with the zipper. I am uncertain of what the chains are rated for, but if you are extra safety conscious, I'd consider investing in additional hardware (I did not do this). Considering all of this, I would still buy this product knowing what I know now. ... show more

  • For what you pay for, it's pretty good.
Item Package Quantity: 1
Alright, apart from some ancient boxing in the army I'm new to heavy bag workouts, but here's my initial review: FIRST, this is a Medium sized bag. it's smaller than the one in the picture makes it look like. Of course, if you read the dimensions it makes sense but they should just put "Medium" on there for quick cheap amazon customers like me. SECOND, due to the first thing I noted, if you put just clothing in here you'll have a great punching bag, if you're a 5 year old girl. Seriously, my daughter was throwing this thing around with her little punches and I had it crammed full PLUS I had 35lbs of sand in the bottom. It still only came to 54.5lbs. I took it down, put another 20lbs of sand in the bottom and finished it out with clothes. HINT: I used a garden trash bag to line it before putting the sand in to prevent sand escaping. This is raw unsealed canvas. After upping the sand, I was able to cram the clothes back in there and get it up to 75lbs. I need about a 100lb back for my height/weight but since I'm just getting started, and the clothes and sand were free (three cheers for yard projects at just the right time), I'll use this until I decide to will it to my daughter. In a few months of use I'll revisit this review and see how it holds up, while I save the $100 to buy a really nice one locally. ... show more

  • Good for a starter or light use
Item Package Quantity: 1
I'm surprised at the quality for the price. Of course I had to fill it on my own, and after doing so it was fine for some playing around. I wouldn't recommend this for hardcore workouts, but for a bit of knocking around it's more than adequate, especially considering the low price.
