Pros: ++Trivial to put together, takes minutes at the most ++Compact floor space-wise vs most pedestal fans, ~12" wide base ++No big fan to knock into things when oscillating, major space saver! ++Remote works great from a distance & is handy to have (easy to lose though...) ++Basically silent on low and fairly quiet on medium ++Button controls on the unit are great to have in case remote gets lost ++Button controls are easy and intuitive to use ++Not that heavy & has a built in carry handle so its easy to move ++Range of motion for oscillation mode is decent, 80-ish degree arc ++Lasko's stuff usually lasts years in my experience ++Various timer modes with ozone mode is pretty nifty Cons: --Except at full blast the amount of air it moves isn't all that high, a 18" fan does better here --Rather loud & high pitch whine on high --Remote doesn't come with batteries, takes 2x AAA --Remote holder isn't in a good spot & the remote tends to get knocked off easily when oscillating or when lightly bumped --Remote isn't easy to see or quick to grab when its hanging off the back of the unit --Remote is surprisingly easy to lose under all kinds of things due to its small size --For what you get the price should be lower IMO --Cord should be much longer IMO, at least 10ft is a must for positioning in a room, 15ft is better I'm using this to sleep with since I need a fan for that! Its not a bad fan but its really not the best for that purpose though due to the noise on high. This is almost identical to the shorter tower fans by Lasko, except that it does require a screwdriver (Ph2) for assembly of the base to the column. The remotes are compatible with other Lasko tower fans. This one is great in a large living room with a high ceiling and stirs the air all over the room from just one fan in the corner. CEO should be fired! My Lasco model T48314 arrived from Amazon in a “Heavy Object” package with the instructions stating “Team life required.” I am 80 years old but I managed to get the package inside and the fan was in good condition. When I began to assemble the fan I found that one part of the stand was missing! (Problem 1). So I went on line to Amazon and began filling out the Lasco problem page. It asked select the model number from a long list of models. My model was NOT on the list (problem 2). Then I tried to explain the problem to a Lasco bot that no intelligence whatsoever (problem 3). There was also a telephone number provided for assistance. I was told that they were very busy so I was put on hold (problem 3.) After a long wait I talked to a pleasant young woman to explain my problem. She told me that the part I needed was out of stock! (Problem 4}. I asked her if she could open an unsold fan and send me needed base part. She said that was not allowed by their policy (problem 5). She then informed me that the missing part could be sent to me in about a month. (Problem 6}. So if I returned the fan to Amazon I would have to repackage it, transport the heavy item to the UPS office. It would be transported back to Amazon. Then a new heavy fan would be transported back to my address. The cost of that would be outrageous compared to sending the small part (several ounces) that I needed (problem 7). I think Lasco should fire their CEO for negligence, uncaring policies. ... show more

This fan works well and I do not think the noise level is too high when compared to other fans. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this particular model. I think the base might need to be increased in size or perhaps weighted a bit more, because the fan rocks a little, especially when standing still and running. Received 4 days ago and easily assembled in 10 minutes. I experienced this in my dental visit and was impressed how much cooler the room felt. I was hoping that would allow me to turn up the AC and perhaps save a few dollars. Even if it did not, I could easily use in garage when I do some work. Well, I was able to easily turn AC up 2* and at times 3* So far, checking daily usage on line, my cooling charges have dropped $1.56 a day with NO loss of comfort. So, that is $47 month and living in Vegas, after 2 months it is paid for plus. I like the fact that I run it on low 90% of the time and it oscillates nicely and moves the air in the room I am sitting in. Highly recommended. It does exactly what I purchased it for.
