I've owned 5 lasko fans and currently have 3. I purchased this for the living room to blend in so to speak. I just bought a huge mirror and didn't want a fan sitting in front of it during the summer. My apartment has central air and the insulation is pretty good therefore I don't need to run the AC all day, I use fans the majority of the time! This works great! I have it on high and I can definitely feel the air blowing on me from a little over 8ft away! I have it on top of a sub-woofer....the fan is tall but not THAT TALL...lol!!! Let me start off with the positives. *The air output of the fan is quite nice. On the highest setting it does its job of helping to make the room feel cooler. *The fan is able to cover most of my master bedroom. I have it placed at the entrance and it is still able to reach from there to the furthest corner. *The rotating setting is standard with these types of fans, but does seem to go at a good pace. *It was easy to assemble. Overall it took around five minutes of my time with only a single screwdriver needed for assembly. *The look of the fan is quite unassuming. You can have it just about anywhere in the room and it does not look out of place. Nothing too gaudy, just aesthetically simple. Now on to the negatives. *The fan seems to be a little too loud for my liking. I have checked the base, tower, and motor for any defects but haven't found any. So I can only imagine this is by design for white noise. While some may find it to their preference, I would have preferred the whirring of the motor to be toned down just a few decibels. *While the remote that came with the fan works fine, as is expected, it does not come with the two AAA batteries required. For the price of the fan I feel as though two AAA batteries wouldn't hurt to have been included. So if you are looking to replace your tower fan, or you are in the market for a new one, I would recommend this product. ... show more

I really like that its is tall and can produce a breeze with multiple options. The lowest setting works well in my bedroom and I can feel it without it being noisy. The remote is easy to use and convenient. even when it is osciliating it does not make much noise. The optional settings for speed offer limited to a very powerful breeze. I bought this fan to replace a 5 1/2-year-old Lasko 4820 Xtra Air Tower Fan with Fresh Air Ionizer that has been running continuously--after a number years these fans often make start making a chirping sound and I have to replace them. That's what I thought was happening with my current fan, but I put it on the middle speed for couple days and the noise seems to have gone away on all speeds. But before I realized I may not need it, I ordered this Performance 48-in Tower Fan. I was going to keep it to replace a traditional circular stand fan, but after screwing the stand plates onto the bottom and turning it on, I realized it created a loud annoying room filling motor hum, still annoying at the slowest speed. I've had about four of the older fans over the last 10 years or so, and the reason I like them is they are extremely quiet--even at high speed all your here is the noise of the air, which isn't even that loud. I'm hoping that the newer versions of the Xtra Air Tower Fans are similarly quiet, because I'm going to have to return this one, and at some point buy another one. One thing in its his favor, this Performance Fan seems put out more air than my old Xtra Air Fan, but the noise makes it unusable for me. ... show more
