We just finished putting this together today. Yes, assembly is tedious, BUT this is BY FAR the best additional run, chicken tractor, or chick "field day" pen that we have gotten - and we've gotten around 7! The chicken wire is actually pretty nice. It's smaller, different than what you get in the store, but it's sturdy! There are lots of zip ties, and we were most impressed that the wire came PRE-CUT except for doors. Absolutely blown away. All together, it is pretty darn sturdy. The doors open and close easily, and the latch is a godsend when you're moving chickens in and out, as I can bump it closed with my elbow or back of my hand. Keep in mind, CHICKEN WIRE IS NOT PREDATOR PROOF. We have a Livestock Guardian Dog that guards our chickens and keeps the predators out. If you plan on using this full time, please add hardware cloth and a skirt. The only trouble we had was properly fitting some of the screw dowels equally into both connections during assembly.     • Lightweight chicken wire
This product is very lightweight and buyers should not expect it to be a heavy duty product. That is by no means a criticism -- the seller lists the specs accurately on the listing, and, at this price point, no reasonable buyer should expect extra tough level stuff. READ the specs before ordering. That said, for our use it is great. We have a sloped property and a fence that is installed "level", which leaves gaps at the bottom. I can secure this to the wooden rails at the base of the fence, fold and fit this to the ground and anchor it with garden staples. Placing heavy rocks across the fold does an excellent job of discouraging the cat from wandering off the property and the little rat dog of the neighbors from slipping under the gaps The small zip ties, clippers and protective gloves, while not important to me, are a nice bonus for anyone who might not have the "extras" to work with the material. Excellent value if your needs are for a lightweight solution ... show more

It's about as big as I was expecting and enough room for my one chicken. The poles are pretty strong and the whole thing is sturdy once put together. The little tarp it comes with for the roof is nice, but I replaced mine with one that goes most of the way to the ground. Most of the wire comes pre cut but you will have to cut some. Luckily this kit comes with some wire snips and gloves to finish it up. Assembly is a big job. I thought it would come pieced together at least a little bit, but it does not. You have a big pile of poles, a bunch of wire, and a bunch of zip ties. I thought I could get it done after work one day and it turned into a two day job. You can definitely get it done in one day but there is a lot to do. The zip ties are repetitive and annoying. For the price I expected it to come in panels partial assembled. ... show more

    • Poor value for money considering square footage, and VERY light-duty chicken wire.

Cutting to the chase… I can not recommend this chicken-run… To be a walk-in as described you would have to be about 3 feet tall to ‘walk-in’ to this 40 inch ( 3 foot and 6 inch) tall chicken-run. Also, in my experience the very light chicken wire provided would not provide adequate predator protection against raccoons and dogs. Lastly at its current price point of ~ $170 for ~ 33 square foot it proves to be up to 4 times more expensive per square foot than many LARGER runs. My Customer experience… There was a lot of assembly, but it was not difficult. If you have raccoons or other strong predators in your area then light-weight chicken wire that it comes with this run may not be up to the task against say raccoons or the determined dogs, but I feel that substituent ½ inch hardware-cloth would fix that issue. Pros: + Metal frame is fairly strong. + Assembly tools included. + Easy assembly (though that is a lot of assembly) Con: - Described as walk in, BUT it’s only 40 inches tall, so only ‘walk’ in for a small child. - Very light-weight cage wire, I have had much heavier wire torn apart by raccoons. PLEASE NOTE: My reviews reflect my personal opinion of “customer experience” using the product(s). ** I thoroughly test items, and over time, will do updates as needed after prolonged use. 1 Star - Very poor customer experience - Failed to meet major parts of it’s description. 2 Stars – Poor experience - Mostly as described but is ‘second-rate’, and/or a very poor value. 3 Stars – Average experience - reasonably meets the expectation promised in it’s description. 4 Stars - Good experience - Meets all described expectation, and a reasonable value for money. 5 Stars – Absolutely EXCELLENT experience! - FAR OUTPERFORMED all expectations! ... show more

I keep a flock with my dad and this run is perfect to helping make better use of their large roaming area. They have a main run attached to the coop with the big food and water spots and then a big fenced off yard to range in as well. This smaller run is a great addition to the overall setup to help separate birds due to age and integration, culling, or broodiness. General setup is as most things with building, better with an extra set of hands, but not challenging or out the ordinary. ... show more
