I am in a meeting hall where there is a leader at the front facing about 45 people every day. The audience loves for things to start on time and end on time. The problem we were having with regular analog clocks was that they always went off time, and we needed to resync them every few days manually. It was those days in between when the leader would end 3 minutes early or three minutes late is where everyone would get restless. NOW the time is synced to the second hand.     • Hands off by one minute, low noise heard...

6-22-2014, RevA. - Update: I suddenly was unable to get time sync. Just after adding a fan into a window near by: http://www.amazon.com/Bionaire-BW2300-Window-Remote-Control/dp/B000065DKJ I had to add a ferrite (3 turns through) to the power cord of the fan, then I could receive time updates again. It caused interference even with the fan not running. The clock is 3 feet from the fan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10-15-2013, Rev.A - Update: I sent the clock into La Crosse for repair. Turnaround time was fast. Hands are now, right on - man ;=) Too bad they can figure out how to manufacture them correctly in the first place!!!??? I'm out shipping cost of ~$6 although... Still slight ticking noise can be herd sometimes, sometimes its dead quite.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9-26-2013, Rev-A. Updated... Hands off by one minute, a little is noise heard (it getting louder, but is still low noise)... Summary: One star taken off for customer service, two stars off for hands, one minuter off. Not manually correctable. This is a big easy to read wall analogue (old style) clock. Hang it on an outside wall (in the house), a way from electrical stuff, and it will set its self, within several minutes. Its almost 14 inches across, including the black outer ring (actual, 13-7/8-in). Details: It synched-up in several minutes. Not sure how accurate it should be, after only one hour, but mine is ~1 minute slow. I tried to go into the manual mode, to bump it one minute fast. It reset its self over night to one minute slow. I am noise sensitive. The clock makes, almost no noise. For 90% of the public, I would say this clock is silent. That was the first day, I have to get within a foot, to hear a quiet low frequency thunk/ click sound, that I dont think any normal person can/will hear ;=) It has gotten slightly louder after running for 24 hours. I now can hear it from 5 feet a way. Its still OK, as long as it dont get any louder. The hands are exactly one minute off. I read that they are/ were having trouble with aligning the hands, I assume by now, the manufacturing process had been corrected. Apparently not. BTW: The hands are not exactly as pictured. The minutes hand is not skinner than the hours hand. Not that I care. Conclusion: Assuming it corrected its self (minute behind), I would be happy. And it did not. I returned it. The too much information: I called Customer support (first time). The call was disconnected; On my second try it went through. I was told my computer was off, there clock was right. I explained that I have a computer program, that syncs with NIST (AKA: WWV). My computer clock should be exactly the same as the La Crosse WWV-B clock. I have a sync "app" on my Razr MAXX HD PDA cell phone. The computer and phone are the same, within parts of a second. The La Crosse seconds are right on; The minutes are off by exactly one minute. The guy continued to ague with me. I asked for a supervisor several times and effectually he refused. He said I could return it as a RMA, or return it to where I bought it. After several tries using the manual time set mode, I advanced it approximately one minute. It is, very, very hard to do this. One button only advances time, no back button. Over run the time, just reset/ re-sync it, and start over, took me 3 tries, to get it close (there is several steps ~15 or 30s each, I think). I dont know if this manual one minute advance will stick. If it wont, I'll return it. It did not stick. And I returned the clock. PS. I'm a HAM and I dont see any evidence that I get or cause any interference to/from the clock, and I'm at a RF quiet QTH. And I checked agents WWV at 10 Mhz, each within parts of a second. 73... ... show more

I've had one of these clocks for years, at least 15 years, never an issue with it, accurate all the time, automatically changes to/from daylight savings time, etc. Unfortunately during a renovation project it fell of the wall, the glass shattered and some of the plastic broke, so I ordered a new one to replace it. The new one seems even better now since it has a 2nd battery compartment. (My original did not.) The new one now hangs on the wall near the entry. My original one still works and keeps accurate time so I put it out on the lanai. I know the Florida heat/humidity will probably get to it eventually, but until then I now have two great clocks that I never have to set! ... show more

    • Initial hiccup, works great, worth it

I've used this clock for 10 months, it was my first atomic clock. When I first got it and put in the battery it took some time before receiving signal and set the time correctly - Be patient, you may need to take it outside to receive initial signal, but recommend waiting at least few hours first. Clock reset itself few times in few hours before working correctly. I was happy, however I remembered that within 1-2 week the clock will "spaz" and reset once a while, which I didn't mind except it was few min off - It was really annoying. First few times I think I manually reset, which would correct the time. After a week or two I didn't pay much attention, and it has been keeping accurate time without any intervention. Clock itself is made of plastic but feels sturdy & durable. Faces & numbers are large enough to see clearly, it hangs on the wall above TV in my livingroom. If I recall it does have extra battery compartment, uses 1AA (+1AA for extra if you wish). I've noticed that quartz based clocks have ticks and even some fancy/advanced clocks are not right on the each second spot/position as they tick away, which leads me be believe it's nature of clock design & function. Compared to cheap wall clock I got from walmart/target, it's silent and don't hear any ticking, you might hear ticking sound in quiet room at night - honestly I don't hear any clock ticking when it's silent. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and considering buying more for my rooms. Downside is that it may not work perfectly right away, and may need to reset few times and/or just need to wait a while before it "settles" in. ... show more
