  • NICE BIG DISPLAY*EASY SETUP
IT ARRIVED IN IMPECCABLE CONDITION DESPITE SHIPPING IN THIN ORIGINAL MANUF. BOX, NOT A SCRATCH SURPRISINGLY. VERY LARGE DISPLAY W/TIME, TEMP, MONTH/DAY/DATE, TIME ZONE INDICATOR, RADIO SIGNAL INDICATOR. PICKED UP RADIO SIGNAL IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE ANOTHER ATOMIC CLOCK FROM ZEIT-(GERMAN), AN ANOLOG MECHANISM & THEY ARE SYNCHRONIZED TO THE SECOND ON THEIR OWN, INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER, SO I KNOW IT'S KEEPING ACCURATE TIME & PICKING UP THE RADIO SIGNAL. HAVE IT HANGING ON THE WALL & IS BIG & VISIBLE FROM A MULTITUDE OF LOCATIONS. IT ALSO HAS TWO FOLDING LEGS LIKE A TABLE TOP PICTURE FRAME FOR SETTING ON A TABLE OR HEADBOARD BUT I CAN'T SEE ANYBODY USING THIS FOR A NIGHTSTAND ALARM CLOCK EVEN THOUGH IT HAS AN ALARM & SNOOZE FEATURE, JUST TOO DAMN BIG. VERY NICE CLOCK W/A CONTEMPORARY MODERN DESIGN. WAS IT WORTH THE MONEY ? IT WASN'T CHEAP FOR A WALL CLOCK, $114.56; TIME WILL TELL IF THE VALUE IS COMPARABLE TO THE PRICE. STAY TUNED. ... show more

  • All the Good and Bad about this clock
First off, let me say that I love the features of this clock but the reason I gave it only 3 stars is because after only 2 months the clock failed to synchronize with the national transmitter now going on over 2 weeks or at least the icon will not remain lit indicating a lock on the signal and continually seeks at the given times. Although it continues to keep good time, I have not taken the batteries out yet to find out for sure whether it will reset or not since it is only covered by warranty now. So I made the decision to ordered another similar clock like this one on Amazon: The "Jumbo Giant Digital Atomic Wall Clock Thermometer" (which is not covered by Prime shipping) by American Science & Surplus that uses 3 "C" type batteries: (...) and will use the La Crosse in another room eventually sending it back under their 1-year warranty before it runs out. Your experience may be different but save the shipping/packing materials none the less, just in case, if you decide to order this La Crosse. I did to save on shipping but since their track record isn't the highest rated nor their customer service department overly responsive, I would highly recommend you paying the extra shipping and go with the American Science Co. clock that advertises to be used in hospitals and Canadian government office buildings and has a higher Amazon rating. The "C" batteries should last seemingly forever but I normally put Lithium Ultimate in all my clocks requiring "AA" and get 6 to 10 years out of them. Now for the good points which should be the same as for the one from American Science Co. from their reviews. The actual size measures 10-1/2" high by 16-5/8 inches wide with a brushed aluminum plastic frame and has retractable legs for tabletop use or hung on a wall. The hour and minutes segments measures 2" by 4" tall easily seen across any size room. All the other segments (seconds, date and day plus temp) measures approximately 2 inches tall with equal visibility. When new, it would synchronize with the Atomic clock transmitter at Fort Collins, Boulder, CO (located in the north central part of the mid-western state) 4 times a day until it locked onto a signal at 2am, 3am, and 4am and finally at 4pm. The average time taken was 4 minutes or less. There is also a Wave button you can push to sync manually at any time during the day. As with any atomic clock the best reception is when the clock faces generally in an east/west orientation or Visa-versa and depending on your state location. Some of my other atomic clocks will try to sync only one time of the day usually being at either 2am or 3am with no other means of doing it manually. Everyone recommends that atomic clocks be placed near a window or non-steel outside wall but I had this one to lock onto a signal in the middle of a residential concrete basement then later placed it within 6 feet of a computer with led monitor and it still worked although not advised by any company. The back of the clock faced in a westerly direction since I live on the east coast. This clock will function in a 12 or 24 hour format and has a separate push button for Daylight Saving time which I like due to the fact that another I own was locked in by the factory before the law changed, changing the dates and therefore wrong for over a month each year. Then some states like Arizona don't recognize DST. The alarm isn't exactly ear busting but loud enough to be heard in an average office room and when set it sounds off for 1 minute then resets until the same time the following day unless turned off. This function could be used as a daily alarm for lunch time, etc. but isn't practical for use as a bedside alarm clock. I found the thermometer to be very accurate as compared to another and like most it's switchable between Fahrenheit and Celsius. This one is only settable for the 4 main US time zones (EST, CST, MST and PST.) The choice is yours but I favor the other now in this size clock. UPDATE: After 2 months of not synching with the US Atomic Clock it just started working again and has kept perfect time ever since. Please note that it is very important to have either the front or back of the clock facing towards the Atomic Clock transmitter located in Ft Collins, Colorado! For example: If you live on the East coast, have the clock pointing generally in a Westward direction. ... show more

  • Jumbo Clock
Great digital clock. The very large dimensions of this clock along with the related large time, date and temperature characters make it perfect for 'across the room' placement. Its smallest characters can be comfortably read from a distance of 16' and the 4½" time digits would be readable across an aircraft hanger. I live on the eastern edge of the service range of the Boulder, CO low frequency transmission site (~2,000 mi) and my clock receives the transmission signal from the NIST 'atomic clock' without problem. It hangs about 7' off the floor and oriented E-W (as recommended by LaCross) with a masonry (brick) exterior wall on its west side. It took the clock one overnight cycle to get the first signal - and has been connected ever since (a month). The advantage of the clock, of course, is extremely accurate time (<1") that updates daily from the atomic clock, Low Frequency transmission. Switched to DST (Daylight Saving Time) the clock will also update at the seasonal start and stop times and the day & date are perpetual. If you have the need for easy view-ability, very accurate time, or automatic updating, or all three... this is one very good choice. 03/08/2015 Update: automatically adjusted itself for daylight saving time without issue, still keeping 'perfect' time. ... show more
