The lock set is good. It did not include the door plate to cover the messy square in this re-installation. I guess I need to learn how to read better. The good news is that the cover plates can be had for about $3-5.

    • Screws are barely long enough

The screws that connect both knobs together are barely long enough making it difficult get them started. I eventually went to a hardware store to get longer screws. The longer screws made all the difference in connecting those two halves. Also the bolt doesn't have the metal strip so I used the old one. If I was gonna buy another privacy lock, I'd get a push button lock so I could just use a nail to unlock it. This one came with what is essentially a tiny screwdriver that take bit more work to unlock. ... show more

    • Doorknobs for mobile home doors.

We purchased a modular home, built in 2004. It is built to the same specifications as a standard stick home, but a lot of mobile home products are used throughout the house, which is very frustrating. My daughter's doorknob started to get stuck and before too long, we were struggling to open her door. I went to a standard big box store and bought a doorknob that matched the other knobs in my house, only to come home and find that they will not work. Standard doors and doorknobs have plates on the side of the door and these doors in this house do not have that plate, but a single hole for the latch...thing. After doing some searching, I finally found these knobs and they matched my other knobs perfectly....and more importantly, they fit! When the knob came in, my daughter installed it herself. That's how easy it was to install. I just hate that I had to go out of my way to buy a specialty knob for my doors. The price was fair, comparable to other knobs. The quality is just okay. I don't like the brass look, but I didn't want to go replacing all my knobs. So if you are here to purchase a doorknob for a mobile home, these are what you're looking for. By the way, this particular doorknob does lock and has a single hole on the outside for a special tool to slide in to unlock the door. ... show more
