I purchased this lock to replace another fingerprint-scanning lock and, so far, this Kwikset unit is far superior: It is both easier to install and far more accurate. The old lock would read my print only once out of every 15 tries and this one has yet to misread or not respond. The app is also 100% accurate and I like the fact that I can lock or unlock the door by voice with Android Assistant and Google Home. The minute the price drops a bit I plan to install another one! UPDATE: It's now been three weeks since the fingerprint scanner stopped working that the lock lost the ability to connect to wifi. After several calls to tech support - and running the same diagnostics each time - my case was "escalated" and I've heard nothing since. Repeated calls have been met with "we'll get back to you when we have something to tell you". I cannot open the lock with a fingerprint scan, I cannot open the lock with the app, I cannot open the lock by voice assistant - I must use a physical key. The only benefit to this malfunctioning lock is that I can still lock it without using the key. I will continue to reach out to tech support but, as the return deadline approaches, they're severely trying my patience... ... show more

Great lock and easy to install and use. I actually replaced an older Kwikset lock because I wanted the fingerprint version. I can't believe how fast and simple to use after I added my fingers. I don't have to carry keys, get my phone out or anything. I just need to keep and bring my fingers with my all the time, LOL. I like getting notifications in the App when my family uses the lock. I got my family fingerprints in. So no codes to remember any more. The only issue I had but minor is the cable when I connected the parts together. It took some wiggling to find a place for it. I will see how the batteries last. I do have Alexa but I did not connect it. Will see how it goes before I do that. Overall happy with it so far. ... show more

I really wanted to like this lock, so much so that I bought three. With small children in toe and oftentimes having to carry bags in, the idea of not having to fumble for keys is very appealing, as well as the ability to set up multiple users for temporary access. Here are my experiences during January 2021 with the locks for three different doors in something of a timeline fashion: Door #1 The first one I installed on this door was just problematic from a technology point of view. Connecting to the network for the installation was difficult, as well as ongoing connectivity. I tried a factory reset per the instructions and then it stopped working altogether, with the scanner portion eventually just beeping and flashing red when touched. I returned it for a replacement which was promptly shipped. Door #2 Installation was a breeze, connectivity was a breeze, the lock worked as described and promised. Door #1, Lock #2 Replacement lock arrived and worked great. Installation went smoothly and the lock functioned as it should. For about four days. Then the scanner portion totally bricked. No response in trying to scan to unlock, or touch to lock. New batteries, nothing. Check for loose connection (the scanner portion connects to and gets power from the inside portion that holds the batteries via a single cable) and connection is as snug as it can be. Factory reset does nothing to resolve the problem. I call Kwikset tech support and while talking to them decide to check to make sure the lock on Door #2 is still functioning and... Door #2 Bricked. about 5 days after seamless installation and setup. Same problem as Door #1 Lock #2. Door #3 Never made it out of the box. It was going on a new door as part of a renovation and the door wasn't ready for it yet. After describing the issues with the locks on Door #1 and #2 to Kwikset technical support, they suggested returning all locks. They said that as of January 2021 it was a new product, and while they didn't have the bricking as a known issue, it would be investigated and perhaps a fix could be found. I wasn't interested in a constant back and forth series of exchanges while a production/hardware/software issue was found so I went with another model that had been on the market longer. ... show more
