Great lock and easy to install and use. I actually replaced an older Kwikset lock because I wanted the fingerprint version. I can't believe how fast and simple to use after I added my fingers. I don't have to carry keys, get my phone out or anything. I just need to keep and bring my fingers with my all the time, LOL. I like getting notifications in the App when my family uses the lock. I got my family fingerprints in. So no codes to remember any more. The only issue I had but minor is the cable when I connected the parts together. It took some wiggling to find a place for it. I will see how the batteries last. I do have Alexa but I did not connect it. Will see how it goes before I do that. Overall happy with it so far. ... show more

I purchased this lock to replace another fingerprint-scanning lock and, so far, this Kwikset unit is far superior: It is both easier to install and far more accurate. The old lock would read my print only once out of every 15 tries and this one has yet to misread or not respond. The app is also 100% accurate and I like the fact that I can lock or unlock the door by voice with Android Assistant and Google Home. The minute the price drops a bit I plan to install another one! UPDATE: It's now been three weeks since the fingerprint scanner stopped working that the lock lost the ability to connect to wifi. After several calls to tech support - and running the same diagnostics each time - my case was "escalated" and I've heard nothing since. Repeated calls have been met with "we'll get back to you when we have something to tell you". I cannot open the lock with a fingerprint scan, I cannot open the lock with the app, I cannot open the lock by voice assistant - I must use a physical key. The only benefit to this malfunctioning lock is that I can still lock it without using the key. I will continue to reach out to tech support but, as the return deadline approaches, they're severely trying my patience... ... show more

We've had Kwikset's Kevo for several years. This new Halo-Touch is what the Kevo should have been. There is no waiting for it to connect to your phone via bluetooth, and you don't have to have your phone or a fob with you since this works from your fingerprint. Lock responds quickly, and the audible tones are quieter than the Kevo so your neighbors won't hear it. The app is much improved, displaying battery status, as well as WiFi signal strength on the main menu. The app allows for programming of 100 fingerprints for up to 50 users, however, it can only program two fingerprints per user, so I suppose if you want to program more than two fingers, you would have to create a 2nd user, so I guess to program all 10 of your prints, you would have to burn 5 of the 50 users. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if they would allow for more than 2 prints per user. The app does support multiple users, but only one may be the owner, so your spouse, or others living with you would be permanent "guests" that need to activate their app through an email invitation. Non-owner users can be restricted by day of week, time, or even specific dates, so you can have contractors or hired help restricted to only when you want them to have access. The lock will automatically lock any time an unauthorized fingerprint is used, so say your housekeeper is supposed to start work at 10, and they are usually inside for an hour or two, you could program their user to be authorized to open the lock only from 10 to 10:30. They can work, and lock up when they leave any time, but would not be able to get back in after 10:30 The app has the option to put the unit into "secure" mode and disable fingerprint access, so you can go on vacation and deactivate the lock, making it a simple key-operated deadbolt. The app can be configured to send push notifications any time the lock is operated. Build quality is similar to the old Kevo, with one difference. The actuator sleeve on the interior powered unit is plastic, while the old one was a white metal. This should be a low-stress connection, and it does not impact security, however if it does break, you would be forced to exit from another door and use your key to unlock the unit, or disassemble the powered unit and manually operate the pin. On the positive side, this unit is about half the thickness of the Kevo. It really does look nice. ... show more

I'll start off by saying "i've owned quite a few different electronic deadbolts over the past 5 or 6 years". This one is by far my favorite. The build quality is STOUT. Just the outside (with the fingerprint reader) weighs a ton and really feels tough. Unboxing the product was a nice surprise as there was a QR code to help me download the Kwikset app, then all the parts/pieces were in 5 individual boxes (all labeled) and the instructions walked you through when to open each box during the installation process. I "stored" two fingerprints for myself, two for my wife and two for my daughter. It was pretty quick and easy. I can't believe how fast the lock "reads" your fingerprint details and unlocks. Its mind blowingly fast compared to every other lock I've tried in the past. There are some very cool features in the app like "history", turning sounds on/off, auto locking feature, and probably a bunch more that I'll play with soon. Easy to setup both with the physical lock installation as well as the setup on the Kwikset App. It took less than 15 minutes to install the lock and I love the product!
