I am giving this five stars right now where it could also be four stars. So the install is very easy. If you never replaced locks on a door the instructions they give is straight forward. The set-up once they are installed is also very simple and straight forward. I have had these installed for about two weeks. After the first five days when I went to unlock them with the app, it showed them as not connected to the internet. I tried to soft restart them by removing the battery but they never reconnected. I ended up fully factory resetting them and they reconnected and as of now they have been good. Now I do use a mesh wifi and instructions say they need a 2.4 GHz connection. I have other products that say the same and haven't had any issues with connection, so I hope this was a one time thing. If it happens again, I will create a 2.4 GHz only one and see how that goes. But with all that being said, the physical buttons work fine and the Google home integration works fine too. You need to set a pin for Google to unlock them. But you don't with the app. Speaking of the app, it's not bad but does seem to hangup quite a bit. I wondered if the connection issue I had was a problem caused by the app. I have used the app to try and unlock them but sometimes it doesn't work. When I use Google home to it will work. So again, I think it's the app that just sometimes doesn't work. But it is easy to use, to set up pins and users. I do wish there was a notification option on the app to select what type of notifications to receive. If you have the notifications on from your phone settings you will get a ton for every time the door locks or unlock. I wish you could limit those. I would only want notifications for my battery life or lost of connection. Something that I didn't find in the guide but stumbled on it myself is turning on the backlit for the keypad. In the app setting there is a option to turn the keypad sound off, by doing so you turn the backlight on. So if you have the sound on, there is no backlight. But if you have the sound off, you get backlight. I prefer the backlit option for when it's dark out. I will mention the backlights only come on when you press a button and doesn't stay on. Also these do come with a key and it's easy to rekey a existing one. Unfortunately my keys were to thick to work but I bought two of these for my front and back door, and re-keyed one do them to work for both doors. I will be sure keep this updated to see if there are any more connection issues and how the battery holds up. But I do really likes these and it's nice to have different options to unlock them. Update 8/24 Quick update regarding these locks. I know battery life was estimated at 4-6 months depending on use. I have had both locks with the original batteries over two months and had to replace them already. Now the battery life was at 40% and it would show jammed when closing or opening. I switched out the batteries and that went away. I will see how the new batteries hold up. Otherwise, I still haven't had any connectivity issues since that one time. I have run into a couple of times where I punch my code in, and nothing happens. I punch it in again then it works. But this has been rare. I will continue to update these as time goes on. ... show more

I do like this product, even after what I will say about it. So much I might buy a second one soon. I have a really good wireless system in mu house (office level) and unfortunately this smart lock disconnects from it several times a day. I even added a WiFi extender just for this, even though I have devices working way farther. The most important feature for me is to check if my kids locked that door, so when I check and it is offline I get very disappointed. I am hoping there is a firmware update to improve it. Otherwise, my kids love to use the front door now instead of the garage. A quick press Lock and they are on their way faster. Good quality metal, looks good. I bought the best rechargeable AA as this smart lock is really power hungry. I will last around a week with fresh batteries. Used 2 times a day at the most. I do think mine could be spending a lot of power looking for a wifi. I might call support. Still I like it. ... show more

Had this installed and was shocked at how loud it is. I went back and read some other reviews say theirs were loud too. Not sure if this is something being caused from install or just the lock it's self. I have another keyless entry lock and it is really quite. Not sure why this is so loud. I like so far but just installed today. Entering codes for users is really easy. In the app it goes step by step how to install. I suggest setting up the app first and then using the step by step guide within it. ... show more

*** three and half month update *** The original batteries that came with the lock hit 40% today and the lock started to jam. It wasn't obvious that the reason for the jamming was battery related because it was actually difficult to lock and unlock manually also. The jamming resolved immediately when I installed new batteries, which is easy to do. We probably use the power lock/unlock 4 or five times a day, on average. *** battery update *** It’s been about a month and a half since I installed this lock. I used the included batteries and the app is reporting they are at 75%. Not the greatest ever, but probably reasonable for the amount of use it’s getting with multiple people coming and going every day. The rest of my review still stands. ****** I just installed this today, so I don't know about battery life yet. I replaced an older Kwikset keypad lock that does not have any bluetooth or wifi support. The install was super easy. The only complicated part, and the part that I think might cause some battery problems if it's not done perfectly, is that you have to very precisely adjust the lock positioning the hole so the deadbolt turns as smoothly as possible. This can take several tries to get it perfect since very small adjustments can make a big difference. If the lock takes a lot of effort to turn with the key, then I imagine the batteries will drain quickly since the motor will be working extra hard. Of course this thing uses bluetooth and wifi, and sends wifi messages every time the lock does anything at all, so I'm sure it will drain batteries faster than my older keypad only lock anyway. I had no trouble at all setting up the lock with the app and updating the firmware. I added two phones and three user codes in just a few minutes. It was pretty intuitive. The app is a little slow sometimes when it's pulling information, and I think that's because Kwikset's servers are a little slow. I saw a complaint from someone that the phone app needs to be on wifi. I did not find that was true. I was able to lock and unlock using cellular data on my phone. I also get a notice on my phone whenever the lock is locked or unlocked, can remotely add and delete codes, can remotely lock and unlock, remotely disable the keypad, and I can see a history of user codes and app access. The inside portion of the lock is exactly the same size as the inside portion of my older keypad-only lock. It's a bit bulky, but not terrible. It is easier to access than my old lock for battery changes, etc. The lock motor is noticeably louder than my old lock. It can easily be heard in other rooms in the house. I paired it with Alexa without any problems. It was just like pairing any other compatible device. You can use Alexa to check the lock status and lock unlock via app or voice. Although the Alexa unlock feature is disabled by default and you have to use a voice code. So far it seems like a major upgrade and I had no problems getting it up and running, so I'm pretty happy. ... show more

I've had 3 other types of combo Dead bolts over the last 10 years, this one for the money seems to be the BEST! I would have given it % stars if not only for the Alexa integration took a while. Make sure you go to YouTube to watch video on integration the ones that was with the lock did not work, other than that I'm real happy with it. ... show more
