Straightforward install, instructions were quite good and the app also helps. I didn't want another app but Kwikset did a really good job. With 5 kids and some guests we had the codes programmed in no time. Integration with Google/Alexa isn't awesome but that's more on those apps' side. Also no issue with battery life and we see a lot of traffic in and out. Only issue has been the geofence. It sometimes doesn't realize I'm home and unlock and then unlocks after I'm already inside and the door relocked. This is honestly no big deal and more likely due to gps (app warns you about this potential). I've recommended to friends and they love it, too. ... show more

I am giving this five stars right now where it could also be four stars. So the install is very easy. If you never replaced locks on a door the instructions they give is straight forward. The set-up once they are installed is also very simple and straight forward. I have had these installed for about two weeks. After the first five days when I went to unlock them with the app, it showed them as not connected to the internet. I tried to soft restart them by removing the battery but they never reconnected. I ended up fully factory resetting them and they reconnected and as of now they have been good. Now I do use a mesh wifi and instructions say they need a 2.4 GHz connection. I have other products that say the same and haven't had any issues with connection, so I hope this was a one time thing. If it happens again, I will create a 2.4 GHz only one and see how that goes. But with all that being said, the physical buttons work fine and the Google home integration works fine too. You need to set a pin for Google to unlock them. But you don't with the app. Speaking of the app, it's not bad but does seem to hangup quite a bit. I wondered if the connection issue I had was a problem caused by the app. I have used the app to try and unlock them but sometimes it doesn't work. When I use Google home to it will work. So again, I think it's the app that just sometimes doesn't work. But it is easy to use, to set up pins and users. I do wish there was a notification option on the app to select what type of notifications to receive. If you have the notifications on from your phone settings you will get a ton for every time the door locks or unlock. I wish you could limit those. I would only want notifications for my battery life or lost of connection. Something that I didn't find in the guide but stumbled on it myself is turning on the backlit for the keypad. In the app setting there is a option to turn the keypad sound off, by doing so you turn the backlight on. So if you have the sound on, there is no backlight. But if you have the sound off, you get backlight. I prefer the backlit option for when it's dark out. I will mention the backlights only come on when you press a button and doesn't stay on. Also these do come with a key and it's easy to rekey a existing one. Unfortunately my keys were to thick to work but I bought two of these for my front and back door, and re-keyed one do them to work for both doors. I will be sure keep this updated to see if there are any more connection issues and how the battery holds up. But I do really likes these and it's nice to have different options to unlock them. Update 8/24 Quick update regarding these locks. I know battery life was estimated at 4-6 months depending on use. I have had both locks with the original batteries over two months and had to replace them already. Now the battery life was at 40% and it would show jammed when closing or opening. I switched out the batteries and that went away. I will see how the new batteries hold up. Otherwise, I still haven't had any connectivity issues since that one time. I have run into a couple of times where I punch my code in, and nothing happens. I punch it in again then it works. But this has been rare. I will continue to update these as time goes on. ... show more

I bought this lock a year ago. I went to install it on a different door as I moved and it stopped working. I own a company that installs smart home innovations like this product and have installed hundreds of these so it’s not installation error. I have tried To call Kwikset On several occasions, only to get voicemail and leave a message that was never returned. I finally got customer service on the phone After waiting on hold for 37 minutes. The girl was extremely rude right off the bat and I was extremely nice. Demanding the month and date that I purchased The item. I looked it up on my Amazon account and gave her the information. She proceeded to tell me that the mechanical parts that are automated only have a one year warranty even though the box claims the entire unit has a lifetime warranty. These companies lie about their warranties to get you to purchase their products. This lock was $400. I’m not looking for a free lock I’m just looking for the reason it’s not working. The three times I called them in the past I had the lock set up on the door so we could troubleshoot it because that’s their requirements and if you don’t have it set up on the door to troubleshoot it then they will not go any further. However, as I said, before, you could never get through to them. So when I finally got through, of course I didn’t have the lock set up because I need to lock my front door obviously with a lock that works. Not thinking I was going to get through. I didn’t hook it up again, which would be a waste of time. They have terrible customer service. They have a terrible warranty program. Their employees are very rude and they did not want to help me in any way shape or form. Again I was extremely nice the entire time even when she said there’s nothing I can help you with until you hook it up to the door. I even was nice at that point. That’s why I came here to do a review because , this is ridiculous and these large companies don’t care how they treat people I have bought three locks from these guys around the same time that was around $1200 or more. I have problem with and they don’t care. Don’t buy from online sellers because they don’t want to warranty their products you’re better off going into a Home Depot or Lowe’s and buying it from them because they will take it back and they will help you immediately. Functions well and is a very convenient lock to have. However, the internal mechanism (actuator or motor) is very loud when it operated by code or wifi. All in all, a great lock but it's definitely noisy when operating.

Install and setup were straight forward. Took less than two hours. Removing the old Kwikset deadbolt was the most complicated part, as it had hidden screws and I had to watch a YouTube video. The only install issues were the long strike plate screws were too long for my door, but I was able to substitute with two long screws I had on hand. Would recommend. ... show more

Easy installation and works great. I can set new entrance codes and limit entrance by date and time remotely from my cellphone. It notifies when you have low battery. I recommend this lock.
