  • Great TV at a great price!
My 12 year old VIZIO TV, while still in the prime of life and working fine, was only 1080 and I was craving a better experience when this cartwheeled across my field of vision. I got this on sale, a 4k TV for less than $200. It's a dumb TV - no apps, no internet, no nothing. I don't need, it, my TV is effectively a second monitor so I can watch youtube and Prime Video. Very quick and easy to set up, and the picture is crystal clear, vibrant and bright. Set up was a breeze and within a few minutes I had everything up, ready and set. Can't ask for anything more! ... show more

  • Perfect TV for 85 Year Old Mother!!!
My mom's tv went out and when we went to buy a new one, found out they don't sell "dumb" tvs anymore. She is 85 years old and has dementia so a smart tv was out of the question. This tv arrived 3 days early and was in perfect condition. Set it up in less than 30 minutes. She is so happy and that's all that matters to me! It has a great picture and sound for the price. Very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • This is the best in class and the worst in class
Affordable non-smart televisions are rare, making this the only television in its class. Pros: light weight, great picture, 1 RCA input, optical audio out. Easy setup. Cons: wall bolts not included, meaning you will have to make a trip to the hardware store (time and fuel) to purchase 4x10 cent bolts and washers. No optical out cable included, though odds are you will need one. 3.5mm audio out it located in the most inconvenient location possible, so forget about using your headphones. Like all new, cheap (and not so cheap) televisions you will need a sound bar. The internal speakers are small sound only. Weirdness: I wanted the Sceptre 50", but Komodo by Sceptre was all that was available, so I settled. When my Amazon order for the Komodo by Sceptre arrived it was actutally the newly released Sceptre U515CV-UMRDD. Komodo by Sceptre nowhere to be seen. I am happy in getting what I really wanted, but what is up with ordering a fictional brand only to receive the real brand that appears to be discontinued but is not? Recommendations: If you want a non-smart big screen television this is your only choice, and it is not a bad choice. BUT, I, who am an extended warranty skeptic, bought the 4 year protection plan because there is a good chance I am getting what I paid for. ... show more

  • Picture Goes Out Consistently
One of the few “dumb” tvs still available, I desperately wanted to love and support this product. Sadly, it’s just… bad. The picture while connected via HDMI cuts in and out and while the picture is in the color green makes the display flicker in a distracting way. I’ve tried several solutions over several months, pushing me out of the return window (my fault), with no luck making this display useable. I don’t want a smart TV but I feel the tiny market I am a part of simply will not be catered to anymore. ... show more

  • EASY SETUP and Works Fine
I am both technically and mechanically challenged. I am nearly 90 years old and have been left behind in this generation. Even the simplest tasks require 3 to 10 times the normal amount of time that other people take. I wanted a Non-Smart TV because my apartment complex provides free cable TV service. And Smart TV's that I've tried did not seem compatible with cable service. At least, I was not able to set them up. I don't know technical terminology and what is written about specifications, etc. So, everything to me is like reading "GREEK" or some other language. This Spectre TV is unbelievably simple to setup and operate. For other technically challenged people, like myself, I am most pleased to recommend it. Go for it; you won't be sorry! ... show more

  • Decent Video Non-Smart 50" Flat Screen, Poor Audio
The Komodo by Sceptre 50" 4K UHD Ultra Slim LED TV is a low-end, Non-Smart, very basic 50" LED Flat Screen with a good picture. Audio features are vaguely explained in the description and annoying audio surprises await you: * The built in speakers are very low end with a "tinty" sound, absent of any high or low range capability. If you plan to use internal speakers only, keep looking, this TV is not for you. * Except for HDMI, the other built-in input & output plug functions on the bottom and side of the TV are not labeled next to the plug or in the instructions. * The 3.5 mm female headphone output plug was found to be dead. No settings revived this plug. * If you want to add an external audio device, the optical plug on the bottom row is the only audio output port available. On the TV menu, go to sound, turn on digital sound to activate this output port. * If you have a quality surround sound entertainment system with optical audio input capability, this TV is a good option for you. * The external audio device needs to contain an amplifier and separate remote control for sound volume. The TV remote control will no longer adjust the sound setting. * Optical output requires a standard male-to-male fiber audio cable (not included) to the input port of your external audio device (about $8). * On the TV menu, go to sound, turn off the internal speaker. * If the external audio device does not have optical audio input port, you can buy a optical-to-analog converter (not included) for about $10. Most common, the analog output is left & right cable with red & white RCA male plugs each end. The converter can be powered by the USB port available on the TV side plugs which turns on & off with TV power. ... show more
