When I saw this, I felt a bit nostalgic. OMG! A Kodak projector! It was impossible not to remember the reliable and amazing Kodak Carousel 35mm slide projectors that many younger people don't even imagine a projector like that existed. I got it in a heartbeat, more for nostalgia than for really need one more projector. It arrived today and the disappointment was nearly instantaneous. It has USB, A/V (RCA) and HDMI connections. It DOES NOT have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections at all, which is unthinkable nowadays. It doesn't even support plugging your phone using a USB cable as that USB por is useful only for a flash drive. (who still use flash drives nowadays?) Interface on the menu looks like it came straight from early 1990s. In other words, if feels like Kodak didn't learn the lesson that made the company almost disappear. They invested a fortune developing this product so it can reach the market with "innovative" and state-of-the-art technology, the only problem is that this technology was innovative in 1998, not in 2023. The image resolution is other TERRIBLE thing. Image is grainy (plugged an Amazon Firestick to the HDMI). The lamp is obviously too weak, so it needs absolute darkness in the room. Speakers are barely OK, it sounds like a mono pocket radio. To complete the disappointment, it doesn't even come with a stand or tripod, so if you buy one, be aware it's just a small rectangular box and you'll either need to buy a small tripod (it has the universal hole to screw a tripod or a camera stand) or stack books to keep it in a suitable angle. It's definitely a product that I don't recommend to anybody and mine will go straight to the donation pile and end up in a thrift store.

10/8/23 - Review Update: After using this twice over my ownership time of this product, I am being forced to update my review. The first time was great, obviously this is not the best quality but for its size it works perfect. However, halfway thru the second time using it, about 40 minutes into a movie, it completely died. Will not respond to any input buttons, won’t turn on, via the remote or the actual buttons on the projector. Even for $50 this is not a good product if it is going to break after 1.5 uses. Original Review: I ordered this projector to use during events at my house, when I want something on display but not necessarily taking up a TV. The quality is perfect for its size. My favorite feature is the built in screw port below to screw into a tripod (which I already have multiple of for my phone stand/stage lights). The remote works perfectly and no real complaints regarding the image quality. I connected a Fire TV stick to mine to quickly be able to access shows, movies, and pictures. A little disappointed this didn't have any smart capabilities but for the price I guess you can't really complain.

Ordered this because I love a Pico style projector. I love that they are easily maneuverable and usually pack a punch. This one did that in some areas and other areas it was worst I've seen. Construction of this projector is sensible meaning it's built light with satisfactory materials but being a tiny projector that's ok by me. I would love to see a more solid heavy unit but this doesn't change my opinion either way. The included tripod is the same as every included tripod, cheap and too flimsy to use comfortably. There is no keystone so you must get the angle correct which again is something I could live with but I've never used even a cheap projector that didn't have at meant a manual keystone. (Keystone adjustment allows you to adjust the picture to level it out forward or backwards so that it's on a level plane.) The included remote is a great plus and one that feels good in the hands and has a more premium feel than the projector. Operation of the projector is where things get amazing as well as the opposite. Powering it on and using the manual adjustment immediately reveals one of the most crisp images I've seen not bright but crisp. Every size font is easily readable from a normal distance. Never seen words so crisp on hardly any projectors. The brightness is OK if you plan on keeping lights off which is fine for what this is suppose to be. But the biggest and most saddening part was the way the white light leaked outside of the projector square on the wall. Never seen this before and it is just too much for me to comfortably enjoy. This projector makes sense to be for a quick way to show some slide shows in a conference meeting or similar. Not so much for a gamer or movie style. The noise from the cooling fan is about he loudest I've heard and I felt like it was useless to use the included speakers to drown out the buzzing. It's louder than a box fan on the high setting. If none of those negative things really bother you then this is a reat item to get. I really wish every projector had text that was this crisp and easy to read. Amazing job however they achieved that. And just as a FYI which they never said it could do things it doesn't do but there is no wifi or Bluetooth connections. I was wondering if it maybe did just because it stated you could hook your phone up to it which you can with the correct plugs you must order. This isn't a recommended nor is it a not recommended. It's a style that fits only a certain group of people and others it does not.

Now I did have some hiccups at first but with a pinch of patience and a few attempts navigating. I was able to enjoy watching my favorite shows and get the most out of my KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector. In order for me to get the most out of my lovely little Kodak mini projector. I needed a flash drive with shows on it. A pair of speakers that have an audio jack and a small laptop fan. A little desk fan worked too,if the bottom of the mini projector is not covered. Having a flash drive or something similar, that is your best bet for using this Kodak mini projector. The speakers are on the quiet side, so you could need basic computer speakers. The kind of speakers with an audio jack plug that would work on any device. When I played my KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector in a room, I could hear some parts of an episodes that were loud. When it came to the quiet moments in an episode,I had to strain to hear the audio.So my using a set of basic computer speakers helped me hear the audio better. Using KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector USB port, was the best option I could figure out. This was effective and produced a high quality picture consistently. What is really cool is that my flash drive had TV shows in multiple formats, which the projector played flawlessly. These were from years ago,when television show episodes could still be legally purchased and stored. So the flash drive was not a newer model and the stored shows were well over six years old. The KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector being able to play those episodes and read the flash drive. This was such a lovely surprise,because multiple devices that I could use a flash drive on, would not play those videos. This mini projector did and I am glad that I did not give up on the KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector. Using a small laptop cooling fan, or mini desk fan while continuously watching tv shows. Even while watching long movies,three hours or longer movies. This would be your best bet for prolonging the life of KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector. This was because the projector after some time got really warm.To keep my Kodak mini projector from over heating, I used a small laptop cooling fan on the bottom. This helped tremendously so I could marathon watch my favorite shows. The KODAK FLIK X1 Mini Pico Projector was easy to navigate through setting up,when I used a flash drive. All without using the manual to sort out setting up, it was a simple. This would not be the case if I was using the HDMI or AV ports. The right cords and the like was a nightmare to find. I ended up needing a MHL cord and compatible device. So I stuck to using the USB port and found success.

This is a good projector for its size and cost. The picture is bright enough to see on the wall in my room with the overhead light on, and the image projects clearly. The lens is able to be manually focused using a lever on the side of the projector. I was excited to use the projector when it arrived and quickly took it out of the box. The projector included a power supply (typical AC Adapter "wall wart") and a remote. I was expecting it to include some kind of cable to connect it to my laptop or BluRay player but there was none to be found. After I obtained an HDMI cable to connect the projector to my laptop, I was ready to go - but the remote control included no AAA batteries (x2). Fortunately, this time the manufacturer had considered the needs of the consumer and there are six (6) small navigation buttons on the top of the projector. The Projector has a Movie mode where you can play videos from a USB, a Photos mode that works similarly, a Music mode so you can play mp3s on it's built-in 2W speakers (or listen with headphones using the built-in 3.5mm audio jack). The projector also accepts HDMI and the 3.5mm "AV" input that is sometimes included with certain cameras or portable DVD players. This portable projector is of good quality, even if it lacks basic accessories to make it useable out of the box. It may be important to mention that you'll also want to keep the box because there is no carrying case or cover provided for the projector. The box does proudly proclaim "Travel-Friendly Design with Carrying Strap", but this is not actually something that is included with the projector either: there is no built-in carrying strap, no carrying strap in the box, and the cardboard box itself has no carrying strap. Pros: - bright picture - powerful mini projector - clear picture - accepts USB drive, HDMI, 3.5mm AV - 3.5mm headphone out - x2 2W mini speakers - portable - menu controls on device - mounts on a standard photo screw (tripod, etc) Cons: - bring your own batteries (x2 AAA) for the remote, as they are not included - bring your own USB drive, HDMI cable, or 3.5mm AV cable, as none are included - does not include a case, cover, or the "carrying strap" advertised on the box - no elevation adjustment - user guide is very basic and does not refer to a more complete user manual online Overall, this IS a good projector for the cost. The negatives about it are more inconveniences than anything else.

This Kodak FLIX X1 Mini/ Compact Pico Projector was a huge disappointment. Was really excited about the project of watching movies off phone on a big screen. After trying it out, even with additional directions via Google, it just doesn't work. Your supposed to be able to easily use by simply plugging in your media player, or phone with immediate loading. Tried various connections and absolutely nothing prompts. It's simply not wifi or Bluetooth compatible. Unit lays flat, as there is no riser and packaging insinuates a carrying strap is included. One is not. There is just so much wrong woth is product. Its not worth spending hard earned cash on junk.
