  • Great Set at a Great Price!!
Size: Standard Mat Set (9 Pack) Style: Standard (9 Mats + Bag)
Years ago I had the KnitPicks brand blocking mats and have moved several times since then and have lost that set. I ordered these hoping they would be a decent replacement. These are amazing! I love the grid pattern, it really helps me keep my blankets and order projects 'square' and to the correct sizes. The KnitPicks ones I had from years ago didn't have that. Also, these were much thicker and felt sturdier. I loved my KnitPicks ones I had years ago but these ones are giving them a run for their money - at least from me! I love them so much that I actually ordered a second set so I have plenty for my larger projects too!! I have read some reviews where people had issues with the blue coloring from the grid pattern bleeding onto their projects, but I haven't had that issue. I primarily do steam blocking. If I have any issues with this in the future I will update my review as necessary. Also - they come with a box of t-pins! I'm sure that's mentioned in the product description somewhere but it was a nice little surprise. Most of the other blocking mats require you to order those extra. I'm very satisfied with these and would definitely order these again and again if I need more!! ... show more

  • ... block doilies that were crocheted by one of my great grandmothers. The mats lined up perfectly
Size: Standard Mat Set (9 Pack) Style: Standard (9 Mats + Bag)
I used these over the weekend to block doilies that were crocheted by one of my great grandmothers. The mats lined up perfectly. Before purchasing, I read other reviews that stated that the lines on the mats didn't line up correctly, but you just need to turn the mats until they do line up and then lock them into place. The kit comes with T pins included, which were great for laying out the doilies for blocking. Due to the intricacy of the designs that my great grandmother used, I did have to purchase more T pins to complete pinning the square doilies. I spritzed the pinned doilies with water and let them air dry- they were perfectly blocked upon removal of the pins. These mats are nice and thick, but you don't have to pin deep into the mat to block your pieces and have everything stay in place. These mats were a very good investment for me, especially since I also do thread crochet. The mats will also work for pinning down the motifs for joining in Irish Crochet, especially with the graph side up- easy shaping of your piece! These are much, much better than pinning your pieces to plastic wrapped cardboard for blocking. I'm very happy with my purchase. I plan to purchase another set in the near future for larger pieces. Shipping was also very fast! ... show more

  • Great product, but a bit pricey
Size: Standard Mat Set (9 Pack) Style: Standard (9 Mats + Bag)
I’m glad I got them. They are definitely a better solution for the blocking knitted items. Blocks are thick, lines on them do not run when wet and they are very helpful. The only one thing, to think about if someone wants to buy them, is the quantity of the sets. When I knit a sweater (jumper), I usually make back and front in the same time. I make sleeves the same way. It is guaranteed that I make increases and decreases in the same amount and in the same rows. So, I usually finish the both items together. But, I can block only one item per one set. That is a bit annoying, especially when it rains and humidity is high, drying time is longer for the items. So, I’m thinking of getting another set, but to pay another $35 is kind of pricey for me. Also, I read some reviews mentioning the odor of the mats. Well, when I opened my package for the first time, they definitely smell like rubber or something like that. But I think, it is expected due to the material they are made of. Since I prefer to do my blocking outside, I think odor disappeared and it didn’t transferred to my drying items. So, I’m happy about that. In conclusion, if someone wants to buy KnitIQ Blocking Mats, l can tell that it is definitely a good product. My advice is to think about following: 1) rubber odor. It will be there, but in my opinion it is not a dial breaker; 2) quantity of sets needed. Depending on what you need them for, think of how many sets you would want to buy. ... show more

  • Great product!! Accurate measurement and lines match up!!
Size: Standard Mat Set (9 Pack) Style: Standard (9 Mats + Bag)
I bought these to lay out a T-shirt quilt because all of the squares in the quilt were going to be different sizes, as you can see in the pics. The foam boards are extremely sturdy, worked great on carpet, the lines matched up when connected, and stayed locked together even with me leaning all over them to reach the middle of the 70”x70” layout. I used quilting/sewing pins because the included T-pins made large holes in the fabric. When measuring one of the squares on the printed grid, they were very very slightly off from 1”x1”, so I was worried that my finished dimensions would be incorrect when sewn together. However, the finished size was exactly perfect to within 1/8” on all sides. Fantastic!! I bought nine packages, enough to make a 108”x108” project, because I know that I will be doing more of these quilts with odd sized pieces. These boards actually made the onerous task of piecing this quilt very easy. These cost a little more than some of the equivalent products available, but unlike the reviews on this item, the reviews on the others all mentioned problems with the grid measurements and lines not matching up. I have No Regrets at all, don’t hesitate to buy!! ... show more

  • Works well, but doesn't work with other KnitIQ kits
This product is everything as described. They are thick and the best quality of blocking mats I've seen. However, there were some issues. I bought two sets of the double-sided mats. I didn't open the bags until I was ready to start blocking the shawl I'd made. All but one of the mats were a dingy color. There was a small stin on the corner of one mat. I was able to remove most of it. My biggest mistake was thinking that this set of blocking mats would work with the mats with the radial lines. The double-sided mats have larger interlocking segments that do not align with the radial mats. So I didn't really have enough mats to block my shawl properly. I'm making it work. Overall, good value but disappointed that the sets can't be used together for larger projects. There aren't enough mats in the set to block anything larger than a shirt or sweater. ... show more
