We got the "Question Block" kit for obvious reasons. The design is cute and while I see other people saying they only got a QR code for their projects pointing to video, we got that plus a little "tips" pamphlet and a more detailed instruction booklet that includes a section of abbreviations as well as fairly detailed instructions with lots of photos for various steps. Despite these instructions and the videos and what seemed like a simple design, we were having a lot of trouble with this. Turns out, it was the yarn which frays pretty easily. Switching over to store bought yarn, this all worked out a lot better. It's a shame because basic yarn is pretty cheap and to have the yarn be kind of the point of failure in a kit that comes with everything and pretty good instructions is a shame. For the price of this kit which was almost twice as much as a couple of others we ordered after from a different seller after that came with better yarn (although less fun packaging) it's kind of a shame. Still, to get the pattern, the instructions and the basic tools (and know you've got all the tools you need) it's still workable. Just plan on picking up your own yellow and white yarn to make life easier.

The instructions were good and easy to follow. The first monkey I did, I used the hook in the kit and ran out of yarn so it has no tail. The second monkey, I used a smaller hook and had plenty of yarn.

I made this as a person who learned to crochet 3 years ago. I feel a person would need some experience with crochet. I still consider myself a beginner. I made it for my adult daughter as a gift and she loved it. I appreciated the step by step video you get on your phone. There are written instructions as well. I was delighted with the finished product.

I really don't understand the positive reviews on this. I'm super confused. The yarn, which is super important to any crochet piece, kept splitting. When you're focusing, counting, and trying to learn something - yarn unravelling is extremely frustrating. I've decided to use a brown and beige Woobles yarn for the creation of just one monkey. I was highly disappointed in this kit as I basically just paid for a pattern - patterns are usually under $5, whereas this kit cost so much more. Save your money. Try another kit. Trust me. Not For Kids & Not For Beginners. Even if the yarn wasn't splitting, the yarn is straw-like and rough to the touch. No child is snuggling this yarn, bet horses would eat it though.
