This stripper works great straight out of the packet. Light and easy to set up and use. I was skeptical that an 'automatic' wire stripper would be accurate and clean cutting, over a range of AWG gauge wire, and not over or under cut insulation and slip on stripping it but not these. Great build quality. Finished wiring up three control boxes so far and it was a doddle. As good on the last as it was on the first and already paid for themselves in time, results and workflow. **Knipex Automatic Wire Strippers, 10-24 Gauge Review** **Discovery and First Impressions:** I first heard about the Knipex Automatic Wire Strippers on Adam Savage's YouTube channel, Tested. I usually trust his recommendations, so I decided to give these a try. I have some experience with wire stripping, and I plan on doing a lot more, which is why I got them. **Performance:** These wire strippers are amazing when it comes to performance. They strip the ends of wires perfectly, which makes the process really satisfying. I've even found myself stripping spare wires just for fun. You can adjust how much wire you want to strip and how strong the tension is. Even with small wires, I've never had any issues with snapping them. The tool seems to adjust its tension really well, whether you set it high or low. There's also a cutter on top, though it's in a bit of an awkward spot, but it works fine. **Ergonomics:** The ergonomics of this tool are fantastic. It fits well in your hand with a full-handed pistol grip lever action that's comfortable to use. If you have a lot of wires to strip, this tool makes the job much more enjoyable. **Build and Material:** Now, this isn't a cheap tool. It's for people who plan to do a lot of wire stripping and want to save time. While it's a bit pricey for regular folks, it's worth it if you need to strip a lot of wires. These things are great. I like them for tight spots and the adjustable stop so all of the exposed wire is the same length on every strip. Lightning fast work another good Knipex tool. I’d buy 1,000 times

Works great on NM-B (tested on 12-2 romex ) wires. Does not work well for larger wires (#8 AWG stranded). Also not so great on 24 gauge and smaller wire.

Small manufacturing setting (300-500 strips daily). These are simply incredible. General wisdom in manufacturing is that hand tools can't compete with the efficiency of an machine. So when mine died and needed replacement, I was faced with the 1200.00 unit now at 3,000+ with tariffs. I bought the Knipex for something else, but decided to try it for mass production. Suffice to say I ordered 6 more. Simple to setup, and just as fast to strip, with even, uniform cuts as the machine. It is a bit loud, but what isn't in a wire harness factory. I spent 300.00 and our output is indistinguishable from what it was with the machine. No fatigue reported by staff despite hundreds of strips at a time. And this is their budget version.. This is my 4th distinct Knipex tool, and every one has been exceptional. They are worth every cent. ... show more

This is one of those purchases that I can't believe I ever lived without. I absolutely love these. I am an engineering professional and work with wires and solding and crimping on a daily basis. I had been using the traditional design of handheld wire strippers for a very long time, and had some high volume work that required stripping lots of wires to a specific length, so I looked for something to help with precision on stripping length. These seemed expensive but possibly worth it, so I took the dive. When I first got them, I though the build quality was suspect. They are super lightweight, all plastic construction. But I'm a believer after using them on a daily basis for about six months now. They're durable and do exactly what you need them to do. You can adjust tension for harder/softer wire jackets. You can adjust the strip length for repeatable strips. They're super fast. They're a pleasure to use, each and every strip. Sometimes you need to do a blank strip (just pump the gun without a wire in place) to get stripped bits to eject - they can get stuck in the tool jaws - but it's no big deal. They're self adjusting and *never* result in sheared wire strands. Every strip is great. The only issue is that there is a minimum strip length of about 5mm. You can go shorter but the tool doesn't help with repeatability on anything less than 5mm. That's perfectly fine - I got different tool for shorter strip lengths. These are absolute gold for what they were designed to do. ... show more

Smooth operation, and this is made in Germany. I have a few wire strippers and this one I usually for smaller wires. It doesn't "cut" into the wires and do the job clean. It is expensive, and I am sure there are similar ones. But at the time, i am willing to pay for this tool. If I have a chance to try other ones, I'll try the Engineer PAW-31, PAW-43, PAW-44, and PAW-45 because some have interchangeable blade options. I am cutting signal wires and this works for me. ... show more
