Ok so if you’re buying this make sure you don’t do what I done. My 11 year old son wanted to play the banjo. Didn’t think about it, hit up good ol’ Amazon and had one at my door in 2 days. Gave it to him for his birthday and then realized he was left handed. I bought a right handed banjo. Back to good ol’ Amazon and got on from the same seller. What can I say. These are beautiful. Now you do need to install the bridge which is easy enough with the provided template and you need to take a screwdriver and tighten everything up. Setup and turning takes about 10-15 minutes. Speaking of tuning the tuner that comes with it works ok but buy a snark and see the difference. The sound is as good as any other stringed drum I’ve ever heard. I even decided to keep the right handed one and learn with my little man.

3.5 stars. This is for the 38" banjo. You definitely get a lot for the money and the basic instrument is well made except the metal parts are very cheap. You will need to set this up. I had to do the following to make it acceptable to play for an intermediate player: 1) adjust the truss rod 2) Refile the nut slots ( strings were way too high at the nut. You'll need nut slot files to do it yourself) 3) Sand down the bridge (easy to do, place sandpaper flat on the table and rub bottom to reduce height) 4) re-check truss rod 5) determine correct bridge position for intonation ( use a tuner) You'll have a good playing and decent sounding banjo for a modest price. For those familiar with banjo tone, you'll find that this banjo has a bit of a loose, unfocused ring to it but that is totally due to the cheap metal parts. It's a compromise. Tuners are also barely usable. Just make sure to always tune UP to pitch with these.

The banjo itself is very nice. It came with everything, and the tune is beautiful. Nicely packed. Tone is good and holds tuning quite well, better than expected. It's a beautiful instrument at an AMAZING price.
