  • Great little ukulele
Size: Soprano Style: Mahogany
There are several options available on Amazon when searching for ukulele. This is my first ukulele. I wanted a mahogany soprano. I appreciate that this was a fair price, with several 5 star reviews, and more importantly, included everything I needed to get started. The tuner is crucial, the gig bag and other additions are nice to have also. It plays well. It sounds good. It needed to be tuned quite a few times in the first couple days until the strings stretched out. It holds its tune well now. I'll end up passing this one onto my son and and buy the mahogany concert for myself, for it's bigger size and sound. ... show more

  • Beautiful Instrument - Worth the money
Size: Tenor Style: Mahogany
I have multiple musical instruments at home ( 5 guitars, banjo, 2 fiddles, mandolin, organ), so I am very familiar with instruments of various types. I've wanted to learn something new for a while. This arrived just a couple of days ago, and I've already started to play songs on it. The instrument with the started pack is well worth the money for a number of reasons. The Ukulele by itself is beautiful. It seems to be well constructed. It isn't a extravagant, but it very nice for the money spent. I've no worries about it. 'Fingering' the strings isn't a problem . It chords easily. The strings are new. This means they stretch a lot and will require tuning a lot until this process is complete. This isn't unusual. This happens with new strings. I've noticed on some reviews for various instruments reviewers would note that the strings wouldn't stay tuned. This is usually the reason for it. The neck of the ukulele seems tight (well attached). The starter pack comes with a chord or notes card, instruction booklet, strap, extra strings (nylon) and tuner. This also included a carrying case. All of these are very helpful. The strap and tuner could easily make up a most of the price of the this package if purchased individually. The tuner can also be used on other instruments such as a guitar. From what I can tell so far, it tunes accurately. The package I received did not contain a pick. However, I used my fingers to play. This gives a softer sound to the music and can allow for individual plucking of the strings. I did purchase picks from a different seller. The ones I bought were felt picks. The case for this instrument was one that allowed for the ukulele to fit snuggly inside, had zipper closures and some padding. The bad had back-pack like straps on the back side of it. The front had a small pocket also with a zipper closure for the tuner, card, instruction booklet and picks. It is a very nice case. The only thing that I didn't like about it was after I attached the strap, the bag seemed a bit too snug for the neck of the instrument. This is just personal opinion. Everything fits without binding. It closes without being forced. Once again, the case would be one that would be a substantial chunk of the money that is being asked of the total cost of this kit. Based on time I've spent with this kit (just a few days), I would recommend it for anyone just learning how to play a ukulele. For those who know guitar, the chords are just different enough to create a bit of a challenge but still be able to pick up quickly. And complete beginners can follow the note card and instruction booklet and begin with the few simple songs inside and be playing in no time at all. ... show more

  • Perfect for Beginners
Size: Soprano Style: Mahogany
TLDR: I did a lot of research before purchasing this Ukulele. For the price-point, this is a really great beginners Uke. I have no regrets on this purchase. The strings seems to be of good quality, and the craftsmanship of the Uke is beautiful. A note on the strings, it is NORMAL for them to go out of tune frequently in the beginning. They have to stretch. If you play it a little everyday it'll help the process go faster. Took maybe 4-5 days for me, but I didn't mind as it gave me good practice for getting it just right. The thickest string took a little longer but I only had to adjust it a few extra times. Now it stays pretty well in tune. Sometimes the pegs get bumped when in the soft case, but that is to be expected. I saw 2 posts note that the edge of the frets had a little roughness to them on the edges, and they used a nail file to smooth them out. I, too, noticed a little tiny tiny bit of roughness on the one I received. This is the only negative but can be remedied in a few seconds. It has a nice tone and is the perfect size for travel, playing in a car on long (and short) rides. You can play this softly so as not to disturb others if they are sleeping in the next room or on the phone next to you, or at a normal level as you would expect. It isn't super loud so outdoor playing may not be as loud as you like but from my understanding that is normal for the Soprano's in general. If you like to play outdoors or large rooms where sound doesn't bounce off the walls, maybe go for the Concert size. The Kmise Soprano is a versatile little instrument with a beautiful sound. The included tuner is perfect and simple to use. The little booklet that is included is by far the most helpful little guide I've ever received with an instrument. Be sure to read it and use it to get started. I've only had this little beauty for a few weeks and I'm much farther along than I expected. The case is nice and perfect for keeping the Uke dust-free between playing. It's been handy for carrying to and from the car/other destination, and from the weather. I reached out to customer support to let them know how much I loved this little Uke and they replied back quickly. I have zero concerns when it comes to working with Kmise and I'm happy I went with this Uke. ... show more
