  • Partially usable
So, it contains everything you need but this isn't a project you're going to pop together in a couple hours. I probably spent 30+ hours on this, though most of that was due to intricate finishing I did. It wasn't in great shape, though my dowel hole was in the right spot. Negatives: Body had a hairline crack. Sides didn't match up perfectly with the top and back leaving ridges that needed to be sanded down. Fretboard and frets were one piece molded plastic. Bridge screw holes were not in the right spot. Strings were not even usable for mock up. Positives: It was really cheap. I was able to get my hands on everything I needed to replace and still come in under budget. It looks pretty now. It was really cheap. It sounds really nice! I chucked the fretboard right out of the gate and ordered a rosewood one with great pre installed. The bridge placement was off by a significant margin so I had to figure out where it should have been mounted (the fretboard I used was the same scale length so this want related to the replacement). I spent a ton of time on the finish, and though the veneer is super thin, the wood did look nice and took stain and dye well. The strings won't hold a tune at all. I planned on replacing them anyway, but I thought I'd say least be able to use the ones it came with to test it out. They just continually stretch forever and fade flat every time their plucked. However, once I got the kinks worked out and strung it up with quality strings I was really impressed with the sound. In the end I'm happy with the final product for the time and money I put into it. Don't expect to just snap it together in an afternoon though, and your going to need some baseline luthier skills if you want something that is payable. ... show more

  • Only Buy for Arts and Crafts
This was so much fun to paint and build, but it sounds horrible. The tuning stays for .0003 seconds, then is gone. However it is a great craft at a good price. 10/10 for crafts, 1/10 for music.

  • I knew what I was getting for the money , so I can't complain
It's a good starter kit . Nothing negative to say about this . Was never going to actually build a Ukulele, I had something else in mind for it . Built my 1st cigarbox instrument with this kit . Xmas gift for my son .

  • It's barely ok
While it almost works, many of the parts don't fit and you get no customer support from the seller. It does offer some teachable moments. Overall however this is disappointing.

  • "Fun" project to make a useless instrument.
The media could not be loaded. Intonation is non-existent. The strings can all be in tune open, but once you play a chord, it is horribly out of tune. The hole for the dowel is way off center on the neck of the ukulele, so when I put the neck on the body, it sits at the wrong angle to make this even somewhat tunable. I just bought this kit to make a small Coco themed guitar for my 2 year old's halloween costume, so playability doesn't matter to me that much... but if someone buys this thinking they will be getting a playable instrument, they should look elsewhere. I didn't expect a quality ukulele for $20, but I would have liked to end up with a functional instrument. The fretboard, nut and bridge are not even going to line up, but again, it is just for looks and for a 2 year old to play with... so it will do. If I had more time between now and Halloween, I would probably return it and order a different one, but with Prime day delaying everything, I don't have time to wait. ... show more

  • Love it for the price it’s better than expected
Very warm, rich tone. Can’t stop playing it. Couldn’t be happier with it especially for the price. I understand why people say Baritone ukes are gateway drugs to a guitar. It really is.
