I'm using these in my home office powered by a small Marantz Receiver and a Marantz CD player and have absolutely no problems with the sound. In fact, they actually sound very good with the treble and very decent on the mids, and understandably thin on the bass....ok? So, if that proves to be a problem, ya just get a small subwoofer. Remember, these are pretty small speakers, that said, would I buy them again? Absolutely !! For my office, these are great! On a budget, for a small living room or listening area, with a small, added subwoofer, I think they would sound absolutely fine. Added note: They are good looking speakers. ... show more

Smaller than my previous Onkyo bookshelfs, and have a very clean sound no matter how far or close you are. I put these on a shelf right behind my chair at my desk and they're powered by an Onkyo A-905X amp with an Energy ESW-M8 subwoofer. Edit: I swapped the Onkyo amp with a Panasonic SA-HE75 I found at Goodwill, which can put out what these speakers are rated for, and these are just as clear near max volume. ... show more

These are great speakers I am using as an UPGRADE to the already good Denon M4 (Receiver/CD Player) speakers. They have a little more punch in the voice/tweeter. Good base. I added a Klipsch sub woofer to seal the bedroom sound. Great price.
