For years I've been wanting to have a home theater system. I've been listening to movies through my TV audio for far too long. I did HOURS upon HOURS of research before finally deciding on Sonos mainly due to the high ratings and the fact that the Sonos Arc was tested and listened to by academy award winning sound engineer, Chris Jenkins, who listened to the Sonos Arc himself and was very happy with the results. Now, before I continue I should add that your TV needs to be fairly new in order to work with Sonos Arc. I myself recently purchased a Samsung TU8000 which supports Dolby Atmos and eArc connection. If your TV only has Arc connection, it will still work, but not in the same manner as it would with eArc. In other words: Sonos eArc to TV Arc = Arc Connection Sonos eArc to TV eArc = eArc Connection What's the difference? To put it simply, Arc stands for Audio Return Channel. eArc stands for ENHANCED Audio Return Channel. That means it can handle more advanced audio formats and higher audio quality, such as Dolby Atmos in this case. Now, if you do not have EITHER Arc or eArc on your TV, they also have an HDMI to optical adapter which comes in the box. Again, eArc on your TV is the BEST for audio, but Sonos is providing you with more than one option in case your TV is older. With that said, lets move on... The Sonos Arc by itself (without any speakers or subwoofers) sounds wonderful on its own! I actually questioned if I really needed a subwoofer or rear speakers because it sound excellent just by itself in my opinion. It has plenty of bass when listening to music or watching a movie. The audio is crystal clear. The voices are clear as well. However, I had already ordered the rear speakers which arrived in the mail a few days later. I connected them as well to the Arc and tested a few movies that support Dolby Atmos such as Star Wars and Zootopia. I must say I am extremely happy with this setup! The sound isn't as "jumpy" as other surround systems I've heard in the past (I'm talking years ago). For instance, if a train passes and you hear it go from the front to the rear speakers, it is smooth!! It doesn't just jump to the back speaker. It does it in a way that sounds realistic, similar to a high end movie theater. I love this! Star Wars sounds absolutely amazing as well! If you really want to test the sound of Atmos, I highly recommend the pod racing scene from Star Wars episode 1. I know, I know, it's not everyones favorite film. I'm just saying the Atmos surround sound within that scene is just a wonderful way to test out your new system. You will be amazed! Now, not all movies support Atmos. I've tested Dolby Digital audio, such as Harry Potter, and was pleasantly surprised as well. In order to change from Atmos to other audio formats, such as Dolby Digital, you need to do it from your TV settings. Sonos does not have a setting for it. Your TV will though. I did it with my Samsung TU8000 and simply turned off "Atmos" in settings which automatically switched it to Dolby Digital. The surround sound came on immediately once I did this. DTS:X is unfortunately NOT supported, which is a downside but because it supports other formats I let this slide. Harry Potter, for example, despite NOT being in Atmos still sounds wonderful in Dolby Digital. As for voice commands you have 2 options: Google or Alexa. I chose Alexa because that is what I have always had in my home. It is easy to play music using Amazon Music. The sound is excellent, especially songs with a lot of bass. In fact, the bass is so good that I cancelled my Subwoofer that I was planning to get. I MAY change my mind later, but for right now the bass on the Arc alone is so good that I just don't really feel I need the Subwoofer right now. Overall, I am very happy with my new home theater system. It offers great and more realistic surround sound compared to home theater systems I've listened to in the past. The setup is easy using the new Sonos App. I love the fact that it is so easy to switch from Amazon Music, to watching a movie or TV. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the black blends in nicely to my black TV stand. Highly recommended!!!!

Now that I have been using this sound bar for a few weeks, I am totally in love and glad I took the leap. I was mainly looking for a capable home theater system with wireless rear surrounds. I knew the beam would not cut it, so initially I bought a Playbar, a Sub, and two Ones. However, the sound from my Sony 5.1 home theater system was better, with a major limitation of the Playbar being that the voices were not clear (my family complained about this, too). Seeing the Arc had just come out and having read several reviews, I decided to return the Playbar and get an Arc instead. Actually, with the 5.1 Surround Set bundle deal on Amazon at the time, a brand new Arc, pair of Ones, and new gen Sub were cheaper (1459.66) than I could get the same setup with a Playbar. Price aside, this time the Sonos has sound that actually delivers -- the voices sound great during television and movies, music sounds great, and the fidelity is amazing. Pros - Better sound than other sound bars - I donβt think any sound better - Great sound to be had that is less expensive than a traditional home theater setup with a receiver and high end speakers - Small footprint - Easy setup - ARC/eARC means that your TV remote will seamlessly work to control the volume (as long as your TV supports it) without annoying setup or workarounds - Crystal-clear, well-balanced sound - Better center with clearer voices/dialogue compared to the Playbar and other sound bars - Slightly lower profile and wider than the Playbar, so less intrusive on the TV and wider sound field - Better design that has done away with fabric covers and just looks and feels elegant - Wireless surround that actually works when paired with Ones - Adequate bass even when not paired with a Sub - Simple enough to operate that my family will actually use it rather than set the sound back to the TV sound - Intelligent use of speakers when not in Atmos mode - Immersive music playback as a bonus when paired with Ones - HDMI to optical adapter included in case you need it - Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in - Sonos app is well designed and useful Cons - Price - Sound is not as good as can be had with an AV receiver with high quality speakers - Cannot use any of your existing speakers without a pricey Sonos Amp - Your TV should ideally support eARC (only a con if your current TV does not, which many do not!) for optimal Dolby Atmos support - If you need the optical setup, the configuration is Sonos HDMI port>short HDMI cable>short male optical adapter, and if that is not long enough to reach your sound input, you'll have to be creative - If your TV remote is not IR-based (e.g. you have a Samsung One Remote), you cannot use the Sonos app to set it up and you'll have to find work-arounds - Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in (if you are not into your home having mics)

This is a great soundbar for the center channel of my home theater setup. If you want a low effort setup it's hard to go wrong with this. You can use the HDMI port with an ARC compatible port on the TV so the TV can control audio levels directly on the Sonos system (and vice versa). It has support for a couple of voice assistants and you can use your voice to mute, or pause the TV. It's a bit pricy, and the added latency from a system like this, especially over wireless may be a dealbreaker for heavy gamers. I typically measure about 70ms of latency over wireless. You can wire it up with ethernet, and hook up your other speakers this way to cut down the latency.

Love love!! If you are able to, get a set of surround sound speakers ( you can use bookshelf speakers too). It really adds to the already amazing sound quality. This was really easy to set up.

The only complaint I have is how long it took receive this and the subwoofer. Sound is amazing. Bought two "rear" speakers as well. Gorgeous sound. Well done. Can't complain about the time given the stresses on the supply chains during Covid-19. ** Update after a month or so of use I still find the sound amazing, but with the full set-up, it sometimes gets shockingly loud. This is especially true for high action / Marvel type movies, but happens with lighter fare as well. The problem I have is some special effects sounds boom shockingly loud given the volume level needed to hear normal level dialogue. I've tried tweaking the bass way down on the subwoofer, tweaking the max level percent, and of course using the dialogue enhanced mode. These measures help a bit, but ultimately there are still times where it is simply jarring. I can't take a star away for that, because when that is what you want, it delivers. And really, you buy a total system like this for those kinds of audio experiences. However, sometimes I just want to watch a regular show and not have to keep trying to balance between being able to hear dialogue while not being overwhelmed by booms or door slams, etc. One thing that I think would help, and I believe this could be done through a firmware update, is to enable removing the subwoofer / rear channels without having to completely unpair them. Currently, removing these extra speakers requires a complete repairing later when you want them on again. That's kind of annoying. A temporary disabling of the extra channels would be much appreciated. Also, I would definitely not recommend leaving the rear channels on while removing the subwoofer only. It throws to much bass at the rear channels in that configuration, and it sounds awful. So it's either remove three speakers, then later go through the full process of pairing the system again, or be prepared to volume dance when watching a show when you want less than a cinematic, booming experience.

I have been looking for a soundbar for my new LG E9 65" TV and tried several ways to improve the sound. This LG E9 is touted to have good sound with built-in Dolby 4.2 and Atmos but I was not surprised that speakers small enough to fit in this thin TV don't have any fullness to their sound. I had an older high end Denon AVR hooked up to top of the line KEF stereo speakers with a KEF center speaker and 2 surrounds that I had used for my previous Panasonic Plasma TV but it didn't have eARC or 4K passthrough or handle the new HDR or Atmos codecs to the new TV. I purchased an LG 5.1.2 (SN10YG) soundbar with a subwoofer and used it for a month but found it boomy and the dialog hard to understand so I returned it. For point of reference I am a senior citizen with normal hearing deterioration for my age. When I was younger I had high end stereos with 15" subwoofers, and understand good visceral base that is felt as much as heard but for my TV, at my age, I am only looking for a full, well rounded, well balanced sound with clear and easy to understand dialog. I also need my TV speakers to be intelligible at high enough volume to be heard clearly over my treadmill which the TV's built in speakers definitely would not do even at 100% full volume. I then purchased this new Sonos ARC soundbar and do like it very much. The sound is clear, full and round at all volumes. The ARC has small woofers that wonβt vibrate your room like 12β or 15β or 18β subwoofers but that is just fine with me and you can purchase an expensive Sonos sub to add to the soundbar if you wish. You can also purchase Sonos surround speakers but the way my listening area is spread out across a large recliner, long couch and treadmill surrounds would be unbalanced in most of my viewing area. My biggest complaint, and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, is that unless you are an Apple phone or ipad owner you can not tune this soundbar to your room acoustics. Even my old Denon AVR came with a microphone with a long cord that you could take 8 or more readings of your room acoustics while the Denon played test tones, analyzed the sound and adjusted the sound output to your specific room acoustics. The LG soundbar that I returned would also adjust the sound to your room acoustics by playing test tones and listening with its internal microphones to learn your room acoustics and adjust accordingly. Internal microphones are definitely not as good as using an external microphone in multiple locations around your viewing and listening locations but it is considerably better than no adjustment to accommodate your specific room acoustics. For $800 Sonos should have included a microphone for balancing the sound to your room. Also, with my Android app or Windows 10 app I find only 2 adjustments available for the Sonos Arc sound profile, a night mode to compress the dynamic range of loud and soft sounds and a speech enhancement mode which seems to just reduce the base and makes the voice sound clearer but much tinier. I donβt believe there is even an equalizer that you may adjust yourself. All in all the Sonos ARC soundbar sounds very good even without the ability to do room acoustic adjustments but would likely sound noticeably better if you had a microphone to adjust room acoustics. The majority of people in the US and around the world do not own Apple products. Sonos ARC not including a microphone at this price point is a serious deficiency. I do like the sound of the Sonos ARC soundbar well enough to keep it and hope at some point Sonos offers a way for me to tune it to my room acoustics.

As "product disappointment" (aka expensive junk) seems to be the norm these days, I am happy that this Sonos sound bar, along with the Sub and Era 100, are excellent products (so far). Connect easily, app is very good, overall setup super-easy. Watched Dune 1 and was pulled into the movie thanks to the sound system. Dialogue comes across clear and the depth of sound is wonderful. Next, found that I can connect my Spotify and Apple Music accounts to the system via the Sonos app, and in less than a minute I have great music in the rec room. I hope is lasts the test of time, but so far just a great product that is worht the bvery high price tag.

Used an older Sonos system forever, the ex took it so I upgraded to this sound bar w 3 Eras speakers and a Move speaker. Nothing but constant connectivity problems. I had to email the CEO to get any customer service and then had help to try and fix bugs which temporarily worked. Iβve had it for 2 years now and it has never worked consistently- speakers always cutting in and out, unable to connect all speakers together to Bluetooth/airplay constantly, alarms not playing the songs I set up. Also the Sonos app is the worst- doesnβt connect well with Spotify and Apple Music, lot of barriers w streaming services including YouTube. Sonos wants you to used their music services. On top of third party apps not working well, the overall app is clunky, not user-friendly and cosantly needing updating to fix bugs. So over it and gonna eat the thousands of dollars and just get rid of this system and get another brand rather than continue to try and fix this one. I would not recommend spending the money on this system. Also my Move speaker blew out after playing it at 75% volume max and now it rattles. For the money it should be able to handle full blast which I never even pushed it to. .
