  • Precision Engineered Bass That Redefines Wireless Home Audio
Color: Black
The Sonos Sub 4 exceeded every expectation. While I knew adding a dedicated subwoofer would improve my Sonos setup, I wasn't prepared for just how dramatically it would transform the entire listening experience. This isn't simply "more bass"; it's deeper, cleaner, more accurate sound across the entire frequency spectrum that makes every movie, TV show, and music track feel richer and more immersive. Setup was exactly what Sonos is known for: incredibly simple. Within minutes, the Sub 4 was paired with my system, automatically updated its firmware, and was ready to go. The Sonos app handled everything seamlessly, and Trueplay tuning optimized the bass perfectly for my room with virtually no effort on my part. What immediately impressed me was the quality of the bass. The dual force-canceling driver design isn't just marketing; it genuinely works. Even during intense action scenes or music with heavy low-frequency content, the cabinet remains remarkably stable with virtually no unwanted vibration. Instead of hearing boomy or muddy bass, you experience tight, fast, and exceptionally well-controlled low frequencies that blend perfectly with the rest of the speakers. The biggest surprise was how much better the entire system sounds. Vocals became noticeably clearer, instruments gained better separation, and the soundstage opened up significantly. By allowing the paired speakers to focus on midrange and high frequencies while the Sub 4 handles the deepest bass, everything sounds cleaner, more dynamic, and effortlessly balanced. For movies, the experience is phenomenal. Explosions, orchestral scores, engines, and environmental effects carry genuine weight and impact without ever overpowering dialogue. The bass feels natural and cinematic rather than exaggerated. Every scene has more realism, making it feel like a premium theater experience in my living room. Music playback is equally impressive. Whether listening to jazz, classical, rock, electronic, or hip-hop, the Sub 4 consistently delivers bass that's deep, articulate, and musical. Bass guitars have texture, kick drums have incredible punch, and synthesized bass notes extend effortlessly into frequencies that can be felt as much as heard. Importantly, it never overwhelms the music, it complements it beautifully. The industrial design is another highlight. Like every Sonos product, the Sub 4 looks elegant, modern, and premium. Its clean lines and signature center opening make it a piece of equipment that blends into almost any room while still looking sophisticated. Build quality is outstanding, and every detail reflects the premium engineering Sonos is known for. Wireless performance has also been flawless. Connectivity has remained rock solid, synchronization is perfect, and I've experienced no dropouts or lag. Everything works exactly as it should, allowing me to simply enjoy the content without ever thinking about the technology behind it. What really stands out is the engineering. The updated processing hardware, refined digital signal processing, and force-canceling acoustic design all contribute to bass that is exceptionally clean and distortion-free, even at higher listening volumes. It performs with both power and precision, something that's surprisingly difficult to achieve in wireless subwoofers. The Sonos Sub 4 isn't just an accessory, it completely transforms the performance of the entire Sonos ecosystem. Every speaker sounds better, every soundtrack becomes more immersive, and every listening session feels more engaging. It's one of those rare upgrades where the difference is immediately obvious from the very first minute. Yes, it's a premium product with a premium price, but after living with it, I can confidently say it's worth every penny. The combination of effortless setup, flawless wireless integration, exceptional build quality, elegant design, and truly reference-level bass performance makes this one of the best home audio investments I've made. If you're already invested in the Sonos ecosystem and are considering adding the Sub 4, don't hesitate. It doesn't just add bass it elevates your entire system in ways that are difficult to appreciate until you hear it for yourself. Highly recommended and an easy five-star purchase. ... show more

  • This subwoofer provides high quality bass to augment your other Sonos products
Color: Black
If you're looking to add wireless speakers, etc. to your TV or other entertainment devices, Sonos is the way to go. Sonos is quite expensive, but you're buying not only high-quality audio devices but also the flexibility of being wireless for sound and the interconnectedness of all the Sonos devices. The Sonos app recognizes all of your various devices and makes it easy for them to work together. You can assign devices to specific rooms or, if you want, set up a home audio network where music is played everywhere. The Sonos app also integrates access to Apple Music, Amazon Music, or just the Sonos music that they offer. For a home theater, starting with a Sonos soundbar opens the door for adding other Sonos speakers and a Sonos subwoofer. The sound bar, while using the Sonos application on your smartphone, will recognize other speakers and a subwoofer in the room. You also can configure the speakers to work separately, or they can be part of a surround sound system tied to the Sonos sound bar. The nice thing about each of the system audio components is that individually, you can touch the component (a speaker or soundbar for example) and control the room sound level, so you don't always have to go to the Sonos app on your smartphone to do so. You can get great sound for your entertainment system without requiring a receiver and complicated wiring. Generally, you just need: • A power cable • An HDMI cable for connecting to a TV • Preferably an Ethernet cable so all the devices can work over your Wi-Fi network • The Sonos subwoofer can work wirelessly, without requiring an Ethernet cable connection which is optional ... show more

  • Incredible Bass Upgrade – A Perfect Pairing for the Arc Ultra
Color: Black
Adding the Sonos Sub (Gen 4) to my Arc Ultra soundbar was the best decision I’ve made for my home theater setup. While the Arc already delivers exceptional sound, the Sub takes it to an entirely new level by adding that deep, cinematic bass that you can feel as much as you hear. The sound is incredibly rich and immersive. Whether it’s an action-packed movie or a music playlist, the Sub provides those low-frequency tones that truly bring the experience to life. Explosions, rumbling effects, and bass-heavy tracks now feel like they’re happening right in my living room—it’s like having a professional movie theater at home. Setup was a breeze, just like with the Arc. The Sonos App made it simple to pair the Sub with my existing system, and fine-tuning the sound to fit my room was effortless. The wireless design also makes it easy to place the Sub anywhere in the room for optimal performance. I know some people debate whether the Sub is a "necessary" addition to the Arc, but for me, it absolutely is. If you want that room-shaking, heart-thumping bass that completes the home theater experience, the Sub is essential. I couldn’t be happier with this upgrade—it’s the perfect companion to the Arc Ultra soundbar and worth every penny for anyone who values premium sound quality. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Essential for stereo
Color: Black
A couple of months ago I replaced my old stereo system with a pair of Era 300 speakers. They sit above bookshelves in my family room and because you can set one up as the left speaker and one is the right you get true stereo. I was very happy with the system but my old speakers had 15 inch woofers. I almost didn't purchase this because the speakers sounded so good. I'm glad I did not only for percussion instruments but even for the lower range of wind instruments. It certainly fits my system beautifully. I called up with a general question and the gentleman I spoke to at Sonos ask me how I set the speakers up and if I would like him to check the system over. Basically you give them permission in the app and they can run diagnostics and tell you if everything's configured properly. It certainly wasn't necessary but it was so nice to have someone double check that I'd set everything up correctly. Many companies these days make it difficult to get somebody on the phone, Sonos was just the opposite and was willing to spend the time to make sure everything was running properly. I'm only sorry I didn't purchase these components earlier but I'm extremely happy that I have them now. ... show more

  • Not what I expected but still good
Color: Black
I had a Era 100 stereo pair and a sub mini in my Family Room and it sounds great. I have another Era 100 Stereo pair in my Living Room with a sub mini, but although good, the bass was lacking. So since you can't add another sub mini to a pre-existing stereo pair, I made a third Era 100 stereo pair w/ a sub mini and put the sub mini in the living room and had two subs going, giving me the sound I wanted. At the time I didn't want to spend $800 for a Gen 3 sub woofer and didn't like the piano black glossy finish. Two sub minis w/out tax is $858, so I didn't mind spending a little more for the two sub minis over the one Gen 3, granted i did have to purchase another Era 100 to make it work. Then there was the announcement of the Gen 4 coming out, with a matte finish. Prior to the Sub 4 being announced and released I had been asking myself, "What if? what if? So I got the Gen 4 thinking I could always return it. I set it up in my Living Room replacing one of the sub minis in the Era 100 stereo pair. I think I was expecting too much because I had read the Gen 3 was so powerful and some users even had to turn the bass down into the negative, so I really had high expectations for this sub woofer. I knew the output was the same as the Gen 3, just an updated processer and a matte finish. I played different tracks from Rap, pop, classical, country, dance mixes and although I noticed more bass from the Gen 4, I was like , "Meh". After True Play tuning it a few times , even advanced True Play I was a little disappointed. I tested the different music on the Gen 4 for about an hour and was left under-whelmed. I wasn't going to return this thing because 1. the box was too big, didn't want to go through the hassle and 2. it wasn't disappointing enough to warrant a return. Ultimately I ended up moving it to my Family Room and took the sub mini that was in my Family Room and put it in my Living Room. The two sub minis in my Living Room sound great, they were made for each other, compared to the Gen 4 and sub mini together. The Gen 4 sounds better in the Family room with the Era 100's and that is where I 'll leave it. All of my Sonos speakers are for music only as I already have a dedicated Home Theater. I've read the Gen 3, 4 are particularly better sounding with cinema because it's a ported speaker, whereas the sub mini is better for music because it's sealed. IDK, other than the shape the sub mini and Gen 4 are similar in respect because they both have facing sub woofers. One is boxy shaped the other is cylindrical in shape. All in all, my expectations were way too high, but in the long run I think I will enjoy the Gen 4. ... show more

  • Smaller and lighter than expected, very big sound in a small elegant package
Color: White
I got this sub as part of a Sonos Arc Ultra surround set up. It was much smaller and lighter than I expected. I was coming from a Bose 700 set up and the sub in that set up is VERY heavy and big. So I appreciated that this sub is much smaller and lighter and I think sounds much, much better. The bass is always clean, never rattles, impossible to pinpoint that it is coming from the sub. Adding it to the Sonos system was extremely easy with the app. Worth every penny for me. ... show more
