It has an extra clear guard on the first 6 inches of the tape measure, which after using for a while I've found that this does prevent wear and tearing.     • Very rigid when extending over long distances

Needed to measure the height off the floor of a “stage lighting can” to see if I needed a 10 or 12 foot step ladder to change a bulb. I was able to easily extend the tape up and use the magnet on the end of the tape to hold the tape in place so I could measure that the can was 17 feet off the floor. A quick tug and the magnet released and the tape retracted properly. I have always wondered how some the contractors on pbs shows could point with their measuring tape at things so far up in the air. I’m a Dewalt guy but the belt clip needs to be stronger. The tape is indestructible and can be thrown off a roof onto a drive way and be fine. It’s heavier than most tapes but not to bad. I would put it on my tool bag after my work day and over time the belt hook just kept loosening up because it couldn’t hold the weight of the tape. Blade stays rigid when extended. Housing survives drops. Markings are clear and accurate. The 1-1/4 inch blade is wide enough for stability. This is what a measuring tape should be. Love the magnet strength. Great value and easy to carry.
