I’ve gone through a lot of tape measures over the years and this DeWalt 25’ Tough Series is on another level. The blade is wide and stiff enough to extend a good distance without flopping, which is a huge help when measuring solo. The casing feels incredibly durable — I’ve dropped it on concrete multiple times and it’s still going strong. The grip is comfortable and the lock is smooth and reliable. I looked up the most durable tape measure and this is the one I found. It has an extra clear guard on the first 6 inches of the tape measure, which after using for a while I've found that this does prevent wear and tearing. It has a good standoff but is not overly heavy or bulky which makes it good to work with for all around carpentry. If you're looking for the perfect tape measure, this is the one. ... show more

It feels durable, the tape is easy to read, and the lock works well. Good length for most jobs and holds up to regular use. The standout is good - Dewalt says 17 feet, but its more like a little over 14. It does not have metric lines so may not be of use to everyone.
