This door is Awesome! It was purrrfect for our bedroom door. Cats can come and go and the main door is closed for the air-conditioning. Our largest chunker (16lbs) makes it comfortably through the opening. I like that we can close the Kat door when needed. Packaging was simple and delivered on time. Not a hard install at all! Took me 45minutes for full install but I took my time. Tape the cut line so the wood does not splinter. I had solid core door so had plenty of wood to mount the hinge. I got this so I could leave my door closed but let my cats come in and out. I was hoping that the opening would be too small for children it is not. My main complaint is the way that doors stays open with a piece of hook and loop material (Velcro). We're already cutting into the door to install the hinge it would be really cool if there could be some rare earth magnets inside of the door so it would just click in place. Also it does require some power tools to install because you're cutting the door corner off so you should be aware of that before purchasing. ... show more

Cons: - It isn't super strong. (Mitigated because I have no toddlers or "naughty" kids who might force it to cause damage to the special hinge) - It does look odd when closed. (Mitigated because we almost always keep it open and our house is far from beautiful anyway) - It takes some DIY skills to install it and make small adjustments to be fully usesble. (Mitigated because I have those skills and can find the time to do it) Pros: - It locks the cat into the room when we have allergic guests - It locks the cat out of the room when we don't want the cat bothering us in bed. - The cat gets a safe haven from the medium-sized dog. - Family members with different sleep schedules can slumber in peace. How? The person sleeping with the door closed is not awakened by a cat desperately trying to go in\out (door scratching, carpet peeling, things being knocked off shelves, etc.) Yet, the light and sounds from the awake people it's reduced by the closed door. Love the idea of this and it functions the way it is supposed to, but there are two drawbacks: 1. The hinge mechanism is clumsy and requires you to open the door to open or close the corner; and 2. The hinge to attach the corner to the door poses a potential risk to the cat as he could scrape himself while going through the opening (especially if your cat is on the chunky side!). We have tried so many different things to allow our cats to enter our bedroom while also not letting our dog out of the bedroom during the night. Stumbled upon this product and thought it seemed like a great idea. Installation wasn't difficult exactly. I struggled with lining things up a bit, but not really a big deal since when the Korner is down you will definitely notice the gap anyway so it not being perfectly aligned isn't really any more noticeable. Also I'm sure if you take you time you can do a much better job than I did with the install. But for what it is it works and looks good enough for me especially considering we will keep ours up probably better than 95% of the time. I also wanted to touch on customer service. After I installed the KittyKorner I noticed it wasn't locking into place in the up position. I emailed the company and they quickly sent me a replacement. It turns out the issue was probably more user error than a defective product. As I stated earlier maybe I didn't align it perfectly or maybe just the weight of the corner piece, for me at least, seems to just slightly mess up the alignment of the locking mechanism. I finally figured out I just need to give it a little nudge in the right direction once its up and it locks just fine. As the title said, innovative product and great customer service. Don't think I'll be needing another, but would definitely buy from them again if I do. ... show more

    • You will need to reinforce bottom of your hollow door cause the screws are screwing into very little

I bought this for my cat to walk under and yes it does work. My biggest issue is that once you cut your door and start the mounting procedure, you'll find that with a hollow door that there is very little for the screws in screw into which makes the device hanging very fragile. Once I had everything mounted, we just decided to leave the device in the upward, open position, and not mess with it so it will not tear out of the door. Does it work? Yes it does. Other that making sure your cut is PERFECT and you mount it correctly, instructions not a lot of help, then yes it will do what it's intended to do. ... show more
