Awesome food processor for the price, despite it being factory reconditioned. Factory reconditioned, at an excellent price (compared to new) with a full warranty, what was there to lose? The original retail box was a little worn and taped up, but that was to be expected. Unboxed, the unit looked brand new. No food particles (as other reviewers mentioned), no scratches, no missing pieces, etc. I'm a persnickety person when it comes to quality, and I was hard-pressed to find an issue or aspect that would suggest it was a factory reconditioned unit. The unit does have weight to it. It's not light but it's not heavy either. The buttons require some effort to push, but not much. Other reviewers mentioned the unit slides around the counter top when pushing the buttons. I have granite counters and the unit never slid. I used a mild amount of pressure on the buttons and did not have an issue. Perhaps the buttons (or counter top surface friction coefficient, for that matter) vary. I used it within a few hours after receipt to shred/grate cheese for a recipe (after washing all parts in warm, soapy water of course). The shredding disc was easy to install and shredded the cheese in no time at all. Much easier than grating nearly a pound of cheese by hand! I also used it to process mirepoix for another recipe, worked great in that application as well. I have yet to use the ExactSlice system, but I suspect it will perform equally as well given it's stellar performance thus far. Overall, I recommend the unit! Great price, full warranty, solid KitchenAid brand, and great performance!

I have a KitchenAid mixer that is over 40 years old and still works like new, a 10-year old KitchenAid blender that is a workhorse too, so I have high hopes that this will be another long-term quality appliance from KitchenAid! First impression (after just a couple of days): the appliance arrived in an original box with all the attachments and packaging, although it did have a large label over the opening that stated it was refurbished with a limited 6-month warranty; since the limits were "no warranty on painted surfaces or for cosmetic reasons." However, it arrived looking absolutely brand new, so that isn't a concern. It also seems to work just like a brand new one also! I have tried out most of the attachments, and I am thrilled at both how well it works and the power it has. The adjustable slicer blade is fantastic - it adjusts from just a hair-thin slice to almost 1/2" thick with a simple twist of the blade stem. I'll update this review once I've used it for a while, and hopefully my initial impression won't change!

I purchased this machine refurbished over 5 years ago and have been generally impressed so far. Being refurbished, I wondered if it would have much longevity and am glad to report that so far at least, it has functioned well. The only downside is that there are many parts to clean in the 'lid' so you have to take the whole thing apart after every use and clean each component, but other than that, I'm pleased with my purchase.

Let me start by stating that this is the first review I have ever posted on any product. This is also the first time I have ever purchased a REFURBISHED product. Maybe it's the luck of the draw, but mine was a lemon. I used it the first day it arrived (wanted to make sure it worked) and it performed beautifully. Three days later, I used it again and 3/4 of the way through, it stopped working!! It would spin for a quick second (if even that long) and stop. Made sure all the connections were in place, and tried again. Same result (didn't matter if I used low, high, or pulse). Figured maybe its too much (though I used the exact recipe I did three days ago) so I divided the mix in half. Nope, didn't do the trick. Hmm...maybe some mix might be stuck in the blade or the machine is overheated?? Took all the mix out and cleaned the entire unit (which took me 30 minutes because there was some mix that had gotten under the attachment of the blade). After giving the KitchenAid thirty minutes of rest and armed with a clean unit, I put it to the test again (nothing in the bowl this time). Fingers crossed......... Same thing!! Quick second of action and nothing, nada. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I spend the next 15 minutes trying to figure out if I can find a solution to this madness. I eventually gave up and called Amazon and informed them of my plight, and the representative offered me a refund or replacement. I'm not that much of an idiot to do this to myself a second time. So, it's going back to Amazon for a refund. An hour later, I walked back to my kitchen, and it called to me, so I pressed a button. Lo and behold, it WORKS!! Huh, imagine that!! Still going back to Amazon. The only silver lining here is it that it malfunctioned on me within a few days rather than a month down the road. The buttons truly are very hard to push, and if you need to pulse, be ready for a bit of exercise. The machine works wonderfully when it does work, but it's up to you if you want to chance it (you just might get the unit I'm sending back). It's a well designed unit externally, but I need a unit that works, not used as a decoration. For all you adventurous people out there who are willing to take the plunge...Good Luck!!
