  • Not as good as their older version
Color: Empire Red Style: 13 Cup w/ Exact Slice Lever Pattern Name: Processor
I had the Kitchen Aid food processor from around 2010. Loved it, though it had some room for improvements. We ended up replacing the main bowl twice during its life and wish they were still available because the motor and everything else still works fantastic. But because the replacement bowls are discontinued, I got this thing. This new one is a lot lighter. In some ways that is great... but lighter can also indicate less power. So far the FP has not bogged down. I'm not using it to make dough (I have their mixer to do that) so that's the only thing I think might bog this one down. For me, as someone with a disability, lighter is better and the power is plenty. Now to the things that frustrate me - the old mixer was quiet and the sound it made was smooth and... it's hard to describe but the sound wasn't grating. This new one sounds like a thousand metal bees are screaming for freedom as they die horrible deaths. The mixer is louder than the old one but it isn't the volume as much as the nasty sound it makes that forces me to wear earplugs to use the thing. The sound literally has me going to the chopping board for smaller jobs I'd prefer to use the FP for... but I just don't want to face that sound. Then there is the height of the new design. It is much taller... which means it doesn't fit in any of my cupboards. The last model fit... if barely. This one... no way, not even with the lid off. This means it takes up twice the space because I have the base on one shelf and the bowl on another. They also redesigned the orientation of the bowl... and not for the better. The last one had the handle in the middle, sticking straight toward you. This was great because no matter if you were left handed or right, it worked. I'm right handed but I usually pick up the bowl with my left hand and use a spatula with the right hand to guide the contents out as I pour. The new design has the handle on the right... so that's awkward. I can't grab it with my left hand. More awkward, the lid opens to the right... so when I'm loading it I can't have the lid on, I HAVE to take it off because I'm using my right hand to put ingredients in. With the lid up, it is in the way. Then there is the bowl quality. I mentioned how the bowl on the last one broke twice and needed replaced in the last decade+... well this new bowl is much thinner! When I pick it up while full of salsa, I can see the bowl bend under the weight, becoming an oval - I'm not really anticipating this thing holding up long (probably by design). The new blade attachment nesting design is... a choice. It was obviously designed by a brilliant engineer who was given the instruction to make a design with as little material as possible to cut back on costs. It certainly was not designed for ease of use. For the main chopping/blending blade, you need to nest three, yes THREE plastic parts for it to function. Um, I have a hard time keeping track of my keys and wallet and you want me to keep track of three weirdly shaped parts, remember what they look like so I know what I'm even searching for AND remember how they fit together so the #$% thing will function at all!? Add to this that if you forget to take the whole 3-part assembly out before you go to pour (like I do every time), the blades and these two other plastic bits go hurtling into your container, as well as at your fingers as you spatula the yumminess out! I will say the one design flaw they fixed was in the last version the bowl had a hole in the center so if it got too full it would leak out everywhere. That flaw is gone, thankfully, but my GOSH the fix (the whole multi-part blade mechanism) isn't much of a trade. All that said, you will thoroughly enjoy the free family game they included -- the DEATH PUZZLE OF 1000 BLADES! Okay, so it isn't a thousand... but their storage solution for all their blades is a hospital trip waiting to happen. I can't figure out how to use the thing or where anything is supposed to go (no, I shouldn't have to look at the manual EVERY TIME I have to use it). It is not intuitive at all. Every time I'm trying to push something back in or pull something (blades) out of this nesting black tower I very nearly slice myself open and often times end up spilling other blades I'm not trying to get, out of the thing and all over the counter and the floor (practicing my dancing!). The FP boasts of great safety features and THIS is what they give you to store the accessories? 😅 I do like that the lid has a gasket so things don't leak around the outside. Many of the competitors don't have this great feature. However, I don't like the design of the lid - it lifts off and hinges weirdly. Every time you put the lid back on or rock it forward to close it makes a clicking sound that sounds like cracking plastic. Inspecting it, it seems to have a plastic catch (as in this design is intentional - it's a feature not a bug!) and that plastic gets flexed and snaps back making the "I feel like I'm breaking this" sound. In terms of performance... the blender is great! It performs equal to the old model which was awesome, with some added features (like no leaking). It also has a thickness selector for chopping/slicing which is an amazing feature that most other FP's in this price range don't include (often an extra purchase or not an option at all). It is a great feature and choosing the setting is pretty intuitive. I love Kitchen Aid and have so many of their 2010 era products. This new version could have been an amazing food processor that could have really put the competition to shame. It is unfortunate that the engineering and quality seemed to be focused on cheapest possible and forgot about end user experience... which is probably the big reason why on most of the review sites this FP ranked pretty low compared with many other brands despite having great food processing performance and features other's don't have. Hey Kitchen Aid - when you go to redesign this FP (hopefully soon), hire me as your end user tester! ... show more

Color: Empire Red Style: 9 Cup W/ Whisk Pattern Name: Processor
I am pleased with this KitchenAid Food Processor. Haven't really used it yet since it arrived today but took it for a shirt "spin" to test it. Comparing it to my older KitchenAid food processor, this is much lighter, quieter. This does not "walk" on the counter while using. Easier to use and assemble. Keeping fingers crossed that it will last year and years like the older one. 11/5/2023 just a short edit. Tried it for real, made ground meat. Works great grinding the meat (pork). Happy with this processor and to say it again, it is very quiet comparing to my old KitchenAid food processor and also much lighter. ... show more

  • Great KitchenAid 7 qt. Food Processor!
Color: Empire Red Style: 7 Cup Food Processor Pattern Name: Processor
So easy to assemble before using. Great instructions. Very easy to disassemble for washing. Easy to use. I love this little work horse. Would not use this for super large batches. Divide and process in a few batches. Love this. Easy to store in cabinets, too. Thanks Kitchen Aid.

I cannot give this machine enough plusses. It is small ( not too small) but awfully mighty!!! The Quality is the best you could hope for and more, within this price range. Motor is stong and powerful. So very easy to use and clean up is a breeze. I highly recommend this product. Dont hesitate!!

  • Simple and handy features
Color: Matte Black Style: 13 Cup w/ Exact Slice Lever Pattern Name: Processor
Sturdy base with switch style controls. Cutting blade, shredding disk, and slicing disk all store within the work bowl. Six adjustment levles for slicing thickness. Lid hinges and is removable. All components (except the base) are dishwasher safe. The compact design is much more convenient than our previous processor's accessory box. The controls are better than the old button style. This was a perfect replacement. ... show more

  • Poorly designed from a user perspective
Color: Matte Black Style: 7 Cup Food Processor Pattern Name: Processor
This chops well and I like that it’s all dishwasher compatible but after using it for a few weeks I’m sending it back because the lid is terribly designed. To attach the lid, you first have to click it into place on a hinge type attachment point. Then to operate, you press down the lid and flip up a latch on the other side to secure the lid. The latch is stiff, hard to use and you can’t perform this function with one hand. To operate the processor, you need to put the food pusher into the opening to keep food/liquid from coming out the top. To open the lid, you then have to remove the food pusher, undo the latch and open the lid. If you don’t remove the pusher, it falls out when you open the lid. To pour anything from the mixing bowl, you not only have to open the lid but then pull the lid out of the hinge attachment, which requires some force and creates spatter - also can’t be done with one hand. If you don’t remove the lid completely, it just bangs closed when you try to pour. It’s just clunky and poorly designed from a usability standpoint compared to those processors whose lids quickly twist on/off without having to remove the pusher. ... show more

Love this food processor! I struggled with a cuisinart which is a good quality but getting the bowl off and on was impossible for me. This processor works great and the bowl removal is so easy!
