Was excited to read, here and on official KA website, about this beaters ability to break down butter, even straight from the refrigerator. My results are mixed. Yes, it breaks it down; but not so much that you can then cream it. The chunks are even still too large for pie crust. I'm going to use it a few times more, and hopefully I'll get better results. The lady is a baking whiz and she flipped out when she got this. She had seen them and wanted one but, has other attachments so never spoiled herself - but I did! She wigged out and as someone who has worked in pro bakeries, she was excited about the sturdiness, and the choice to have one non-coated in the usual white. Overall, yea, she loves this thing. 5/5 easy. *also came with a little bonus surprise I won’t ruin but, she said all you stand mixer fans will love! ... show more

Have a KitchenAid mixer that got used so much the beater's paint was peeling off! You don't want paint and metal in your food! Why would KA make a product like that?! Here's your answer to that. get a metal one. I have made cakes, icing and anything that needs mixing with this beater. I loved everything about this beater.......except, even with reading the description, it was the WRONG size! UGH! I've forever used either two table knives or more recently a pastry blender to cut cold butter in flour. I bought this paddle for that purpose. It works great, cleans up just as easily as other means. Can't add anything to that.

It came in a Kitchenaid box, lose and thrown inside together so it made noise, no mini recipes booklet, just instructions that looked a little beat up like the box it came in, oh well
