This is amazing. It makes cutting butter into a recipe so much easier! I really enjoy making scones, so this beater has made it easier for me to make them more often. You just have to start out on low speed (so that the ingredients don't go flying out), then slowly increase the speed. For me personally, this beater was definitely worth the money. ... show more

Was excited to read, here and on official KA website, about this beaters ability to break down butter, even straight from the refrigerator. My results are mixed. Yes, it breaks it down; but not so much that you can then cream it. The chunks are even still too large for pie crust. I'm going to use it a few times more, and hopefully I'll get better results. Otherwise, I'll bring my butter to room temperature, as per usual. Edit :: PERFECT for mixing my meatloaf!! I AM NOW IMPRESSED! ... show more

I was really reluctant to purchase this although I make a lot of butter blended items. Is extremely, extremely, hideously overpriced, especially as compared to others beater/mixer blades offered by KitchenAid. Having said that, I really felt my back was against the wall with this, having worn out so many hand blenders made for this purpose and having extreme arthritis in my wrist. I had to bite the bullet here, or give up baking butter pastries altogether. It works very well so human though I'm not quite sure it's worth the price, I got it anyway... Although I am completely irked about the price which should be obvious, I chose not to give up my favorite flaky pastries! ... show more

I DREAD having to cut in shortening or butter to make any type of pie crust or other pastry dough — so much that I avoid those recipes. This paddle did the job easily!
