I'm a drip coffee pot fan. I've had 1000 dollar espresso machines, Keurig's with pods and everything else. But I like drip makers, and this is the best one I've ever had and best looking by far.... I usually get the cheaper Cuisinart drip makers and those are pretty good. I don't think any drip coffee maker lasts over 18 months, so I have had a lot of drip coffee makers. I also don't like thermos carafes. I want glass. This KitchenAid is outstanding. I love the wide nozzle head that drips the coffee on a much wider zone of grinds, the removable water tank with measurements printed on it and the filter with cup measuring notches. (Drip makers without removeable tanks are hard to keep clean and can get scum inside.) There is one glaring problem that other reviewers mentioned but I did not understand until it happened to me on the first (and every) batch. After making the coffee and it is time to open the lid and remove the filter with used grinds, you flip up the hinged lid and about 3 teaspoons of clean water drips out onto the edge of the filter housing and down both sides of the coffee maker. So before I open the lid, I have a dish rag in my hand to wipe that water before it runs down the outside of the container. Not a big deal but I was amazed that this could get by KitchenAid QC. But I give it 5 stars because all drip coffee makers have faults, and this one makes the best pot of coffee I have ever had - I bet because of the big wide drip nozzle that drips coffee across the whole filter. But that nozzle housing holds residual water after the coffee making is done, and when you open that lid the water spills out where it should not. ... show more

Love this coffee maker. Makes a good cup of coffee and we like being able to program an auto brew for the weekdays and a different time for the weekends. Believe it or not, it is hard to find that feature in a coffee maker. I will warn you though, the first one we got, the carafe leaked. When we poured coffee, it leaked into the plastic rim across the top and when you placed it back on the hot plate, it would leak down the inside of the handle onto the hot plate. We sent it back for a replacement and the replacement is just fine! No problems now. love it ... show more

I waited over a month of daily use before reviewing. This is a great machine that produces delicious coffee and is easy to use. I love that I can keep coffee hot for 4 hours and it is every bit as hot as it was when first brewed. The bold feature works well and is successful in making a stronger pot than the regular. The filter with built in measuring is brilliant and handy (and a main draw in purchasing). The grey color is sharp, contemporary, and goes well with everything. It is large but not cumbersome and fits under the cabinet on the kitchen counter. My only suggestion for Kitchen Aid is that they improve the fit of the water holder and it's cover. On the plus side It is easy to fill with water and nice that you can choose to use the coffee pot to fill it or remove the water holder and fill it directly in the sink. Another big advantage to this machine is that you can make 12 large cups, in any increment you want. We make 9 cups daily for the two of us who drink it from 7:30am to 12:30PM. We like the option to make less over the weekend or more if we have company. The directions say to use cold water but we use warm to hot water as it does increase the temperature of the coffee. Thee brew time is average and not an issue. The quality and design are second to none and make the higher price tag worth it. ... show more

I ordered this coffee maker within the last 3 months, and while I do really like the coffee it makes, the carafe it comes with is seriously crap. The thing cracked within the first 3 months of normal usage, and now I cant find a real replacement anywhere. This is seriously BS. Due to the terrible quality of the carafe I would NOT recommend this coffee maker at all despite the fact that it makes great coffee. bummer :( ... show more

This is my fourth drip machine in the last few years. I had two Krups machines die within about a year of purchase (both just started leaking water one day) and one Cuisinart that suddenly refused to power on after about a year. This one seems to have a better build quality; doesn't feel as flimsy as my previous machines. So far my only complaint is warming plate temperature - the lowest temp setting still scorches my coffee within an hour of brewing. Solved by tossing some pennies on the plate to create an air gap. The lid doesn't seem to be removable from the carafe (maybe it is but I'm not going to force it because it feels like it may break), so washing it is a bit challenging. ... show more

Needed a coffee maker that has a programmable heat pad. Can set each hour you need up to 4 hours and it does a count down on display. You will need to set it in the long direction to see the display and add water. If on kitchen counter with overhead cabinet you will have to move out past upper cabinet to do the water and add coffee. Really like the removable water tank just take to sink, fill and reattach to unit. So don’t have to fill graft and spill water into a built in tank, much cleaner process and less spills. Like the way the coffee grounds basket is reusable and sets in another basket that locks into place with the handle. I think the idea for this is to secure the baskets so there is less spillage on heat pad, only one very small drip sometimes so this helps to keep the heat pad cleaner. Got for a XMas gift in gray and my Son said he couldn’t find the red one that I preferred, but no big deal. Also, quieter than my last one.
