The media could not be loaded. Note: **watch my Video Review for Comprehensive breakdown** Imarku has produced a very artistic & elegant set of knives, which you're looking at as you read this. I am here today to tell you the truth with no mixed words. I'm not letting my promotional deal affect my analysis of the actual product you get versus the price. My Main Impressions: #1. These are very well designed and knives. Everything from the shape and size of the blades to the grip to the pommel on the end scream "class" and "quality." They are beautiful and I see no room for improvement. #2. These knives come very sharp out of the box, and the set comes with a sharpening rod. With a little bit of instruction found on YouTube, you'll learn very quickly how to keep these knives surgically sharp. Many products by Lansky & SpyderCo are adjustable and can help you reach any angles you wish, as long as it is realistic. #3. My recommendation is that you keep these knives sharpened at a 10°- 12° angle, and that you sharpen and clean them regularly. You can, of course, can use whetstones if you have the time and patience. #4. This is such a high quality set that if you take care of them they are likely to last you the rest of your life. They're no reason to mistreat them, like throwing them or using them to pry cans open, etc. You can do that with your cheaper stuff, if you must. #5. If you buy this set you will likely have the nicest kitchen knife tower & blade set out of all of your friends and family, so expect some jealousy. Someone might tell you that you paid too much, or that you should have went with Damascus, or laser-etched designs. They might tell you that you screwed up by picking wood as a handle, but it's actually an artificial handle...very smooth, durable, and sharp. There are no rivets, which should give them a clue. These knives should be cleaned by hand in warm soapy water before being rinsed and dried by hand. It may sound like a lot, but it will take you less than 2 minutes. As far as sharpening, as I've already said, it's very important. You will spend unnecessary amounts of energy using these knives if they are not sharp, and a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp knife, because it will be too difficult to predict how they will perform on different types of meat. Sharpen your knives after every 1-3 uses. That's just my opinion & advice (especially when dealing with bone, cartilage and tough sinew.) Assuming you are mature enough to take care of equipment like this, keeping it clean and sharp, this is a fantastic deal. You won't find anything like this at Target or Walmart. This probably what Drake has in his kitchen... And if he doesn't then he should. Very good product. So far unmatched as far as I'm concerned. A+ ... show more

It is a pretty stylish set to add to your kitchen providing a wide variety of knives to fulfill those cutting tasks. So far the set is offering an excellent performance, they came sharp out of the box and have a good build quality. Just tested the knives for about a week, so I cannot really say about fading of handle or chipping. Also I still cannot figure out if it’s a full tang and it’s not even mentioned anywhere, but it seems like they are full tang knives. Moreover, although I remember reading, they can be washed in dishwasher I would not second that if you don’t want to ruin your set soon. The smooth handles are designed well for comfortable holding and are beautifully designed too. The wooden block is kind of heavy, yet it provides a stylish compartment to store them safely. Also the steak knives block can be removed easily from the main block so if you want to put them on dining table it’s an easy go. The only thing that I am disappointed about it the wooden block has some visible paint chips, was dusty and I had to clean it before setting it up. I really wasn’t expecting that kind of finish for the value of money. Rest I am satisfied with their performance so far! ... show more

High quality and very sharp. I guess that is about what is expected from a knife, to be sharp. All of these knives come sharp but the question is how long will it stay sharp and how well it will sharpen. These knives are very knife. The description does not say if these are forged or stamped. It also does not say if it is full tang. Looking at some of the choices of handles I would guess this is a full tang. That means it is less likely that the handle will break off. The ad says Japanese steel but the description further down says German steel. Which is it? Many of these ads have conflicting information. These knives feel good and look good. The price is pretty high but good knives are not cheap. You get the steak knives a knife holder that separates the steak knives from the cooking cutlery. I like this knife set, but they lose a star for conflicting information. ... show more

    • My favorite design by Imarku
To be clear I did get this free, however I have purchased similar by Imarku previously. They have a line that uses their name on the back of the handle, I have everything from that line and now this. First off. They make great cuts and never seem to dull (as long as you do proper care procedures). They have a nice weight for each piece. The shears are not my favorite but that is what it is since I dislike most shears designed that way. The block itself stays put and has a removable/transportable steak knife section. I like the ease of clean for the wood handles more than my previous grained wood handles by another company. Also after 20 uses for the larger mean knife it still looks new, which is a bonus. I can see my using these for another 20 years easily, if not more. I will update if something drastic happens in the next so many years. But again Imarku is a company I personally have really good luck with. They seem to price things about as cheap as possible for what you get. ... show more
