Description

Charge, boost, and spin to attack your rivals in this vehicle action game featuring Kirby and crew Pick your rider, pick your machine, and mount up for competition! Take on your rivals in frantic arena battles or fast-paced races on the ground and in the air. Use the Boost Charge button to brake and control your turns as your machine automatically fights for top speed. Fill your Boost Charge Gauge as you drift around the bend and release it to trigger an explosive dash! Choose from a variety of riders like Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Magolor from the Kirby’s Return to Dream Land™ game, and machines including the Warp Star, Wheelie Bike, Chariot, and more. Each machine handles differently, and each rider has their own set of stats and Specials—they can also grab Copy Abilities off their foes to get an edge in the fray. Take on highly varied arena battles in City Trial, or race to the finish in Air Ride Zip around the city of Skyah in City Trial: a free-for-all battle for 16 players online or 8 players via local wireless. Roam around Skyah to find machines, collect power-ups, and survive through unpredictable Field Events ranging from falling meteors to powerful boss battles. After five minutes of powering up, you and your rivals will compete in one of a whole host of different Stadium contests, each with its own objective. These include drag races, battle arenas, skydiving for points and more, so it helps to be ready for anything! If more straightforward racing is to your liking, check out Air Ride a frantic dash where you can race again 5 other Riders, or compete online or via local wireless. Pros: 🌠 Fun, chaotic, great for any age! 🌠 Easy controls, no forward tilt to drive. The tutorial is in-depth, so you'll learn all the mechanics within 15-30 minutes. 🌠 Single-player mode called Road Trip (choose your difficulty), different paths, different mini games, boss fights, and story progression. Even if friends can't play with you, or you don't want to play online... This solo mode is full of unique experiences, and you can avoid boredom by choosing between 3 options to progress in the game 🌠 Amiibo compatibility (train your amiibo), unlockables, achievements (I think there's over 500... feels reminiscent of smash bros lol) 🌠 Customization of your driver (accessories, hats, color variants) and vehicles (once unlocked), and you can even see the handiwork of players around the world! Buy and use the ones you like, or customize your own vehicle. 🌠 All 18 tracks are beautifully designed, half full of nostalgia, and half are completely new! Courses almost feel like a dynamic theme park ride with flying and high-energy song tracks! 🌠Competitive mechanics allow you to get ahead of the game or try online and drown in the chaos. There are photo-realistic images of real-life food instead of "dishes" from other Kirby games. Just why...? I'm crying inside. Food across Kirby games looks cute, whimsical, and familiar. The variety of stages, characters, and familiar elements feels limited at this time. It's back and it's amazing!

I'm SO happy they finally made a sequel to the GameCube original! For those unfamiliar, Kirby Air Riders is a somewhat-simplified racing game that involves racing either on tiny tabletop courses, regular racing levels, or gathering items within a city to power up your vehicle before taking on opponents in a variety of stadium events. Top Ride (tabletop races) are overhead-view single-screen courses. While simple, they can still be wildly entertaining thanks to the various items that can be picked up. Air Ride (regular-style courses) are more like what you would normally expect for a racing video game, but with huge, imaginative courses. Items are also available here. City Trial (the star of the show in my book) is where every starts on a small, simple car and then roams around the city looking for powerups. Once time runs out, everyone competes in a stadium event like Air Glider (see who can fly the farthest), Dustup Derby (a sort of battle royale), Gourmet Race (see who can eat the most food) and more! Plus, within the city, various events can take place such as meteor showers, boss fights, or legendary cars. The game has a huge number of a characters and vehicles to choose from, each with unique abilities and special moves. There's even a story mode if you want to explore the origins of Kirby Air Ride. There's something for everyone here! Like the Gamecube original, I expect to be playing this games many years into the future. ... show more

A "one more game" kind of game

Incredible sequel to Kirby Air Ride, which is a game I never thought would get one. It has game modes for everyone, plays smoothly, looks great on the eyes, has insane customization, and it's easy to learn, difficult to master. If you have anyone to play with, this is one of the best party games you could get. Otherwise, I honestly still think it's worth it even for the single player experience, especially if you have an NSO subscription. Being able to just play an online game of City Trial or two (a battle royale game mode, essentially) whenever you want is such a great experience, and it even plays incredibly well considering it's on NSO. There's a reason everyone thinks Sakurai and his team are geniuses, and I can't wait for their next game (crossed fingers for Kid Icarus Uprising 2). ... show more

Absolute Fun Racing Game With My Favorite Pink Puffball!

I have been anticipating this game ever since the first teaser trailer. All you need to make a good Air Rider game is Kirby, and the City Trial game mode. However Mr. Sakurai himself set out two dedicated Presents for the game showing off not only Kirby and City Trial. He announced a wide variety of colorful characters, and returning modes, Air Ride, and Top Ride, as well as adding a story mode along with it. Then you have vehicle customization and you can put hats on your riders. So much to do! Best Racer on the Switch 2! ... show more

Best switch 2 game

A quality game from Sakurai and his team!

In terms of the Switch 2 exclusives that released in 2025, this game along with DK Bananza are worth the $70 price point. Sakurai and his team did an excellent job at modernizing the Kirby Air Ride gameplay formula that worked so well during the GameCube generation. City Trial is one of the funnest side modes that I’ve ever played in a video game. Just like with Smash Ultimate, I will be putting hundreds of hours into this game because I know that it will be a blast of a time. As soon as I finished watching the first Kirby Air Riders focused direct, I knew that this game would be something incredibly special. From the way Sakurai was gushing about the game, I knew that I would be in for a treat as soon as I purchased the game. I “bit the bullet” on this game and paid the full MSRP, but this was one of those cases where I knew that the game would be quality, and I wanted to support Sakurai and his team who worked really hard to make this game a reality. This is what good video games are all about at the end of the day: fun; and Kirby Air Riders had that in spades! Definitely recommend this to those who want a unique racing experience with all of the extra content. If the $70 price tag is too high, wait until a sale or look elsewhere to get the game for less. Charming High-Speed Fun With a Few Bumps Along the Way Kirby Air Riders on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a joyful return to the skies, delivering a colorful and energetic racing experience that feels right at home in Kirby’s whimsical universe. It’s a game packed with charm, smooth performance, and plenty of lighthearted fun, even if it doesn’t quite reach the depth of other racing titles. Gameplay & Controls The controls are simple, responsive, and easy to learn — exactly what you’d expect from a Kirby game. Taking flight on Kirby’s various air ride machines is satisfying, with drifting, boosting, and soaring working together to create a fast, breezy racing style. Kirby’s copy abilities make races feel dynamic and unpredictable. Grabbing a power-up mid-air and instantly changing your strategy keeps you on your toes, and it gives each race a unique flavor. While the gameplay is very accessible, some veteran players may find themselves wishing for slightly more depth in the mechanics. It’s fun, but at times a little straightforward. Visuals & Performance The game absolutely pops on the Switch 2. Colors are vibrant, the skies look beautiful, and each track has a unique visual identity that feels full of life. Performance is smooth, with stable frame rates and very fast load times, which makes jumping into race after race effortless.
