  • A "one more game" kind of game
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Incredible sequel to Kirby Air Ride, which is a game I never thought would get one. It has game modes for everyone, plays smoothly, looks great on the eyes, has insane customization, and it's easy to learn, difficult to master. If you have anyone to play with, this is one of the best party games you could get. Otherwise, I honestly still think it's worth it even for the single player experience, especially if you have an NSO subscription. Being able to just play an online game of City Trial or two (a battle royale game mode, essentially) whenever you want is such a great experience, and it even plays incredibly well considering it's on NSO. There's a reason everyone thinks Sakurai and his team are geniuses, and I can't wait for their next game (crossed fingers for Kid Icarus Uprising 2). ... show more

  • Bring on the poyo chaos energy with Kirby and friends🍅
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Pros: 🌠 Fun, chaotic, great for any age! 🌠 Easy controls, no forward tilt to drive. The tutorial is in-depth, so you'll learn all the mechanics within 15-30 minutes. 🌠 Single-player mode called Road Trip (choose your difficulty), different paths, different mini games, boss fights, and story progression. Even if friends can't play with you, or you don't want to play online... This solo mode is full of unique experiences, and you can avoid boredom by choosing between 3 options to progress in the game 🌠 Amiibo compatibility (train your amiibo), unlockables, achievements (I think there's over 500... feels reminiscent of smash bros lol) 🌠 Customization of your driver (accessories, hats, color variants) and vehicles (once unlocked), and you can even see the handiwork of players around the world! Buy and use the ones you like, or customize your own vehicle. 🌠 All 18 tracks are beautifully designed, half full of nostalgia, and half are completely new! Courses almost feel like a dynamic theme park ride with flying and high-energy song tracks! 🌠Competitive mechanics allow you to get ahead of the game or try online and drown in the chaos. Online has ranked, challenges, and a whopping 32 player capacity per lobby. 🌠 Play as familiar characters across the Kirby universe, including RICK!! Guest appearances from other games, as well as timeless classics from older games. Cons: ❌ Learning curve for new players is a bit of a problem. Although I consider the controls "easy," there are mechanics essential to racing. It might be time-consuming to play locally with new friends who are completely new to the game. The alternative is to just throw them in with no explanation, as it is chaotic anyway ❌ Adventure mode items/power-ups have no explanation or legend. You're kind of just rolling with it, or you need to look it up ahead of time ❌ Not for kids who are prone to overstimulation, it's CHAOTIC, and certain children might find this game too overwhelming ❌ In the food modes... There are photo-realistic images of real-life food instead of "dishes" from other Kirby games. Just why...? I'm crying inside. Food across Kirby games looks cute, whimsical, and familiar. But the food in this game... 👎 ❌ Not a fair comparison, but when compared to Mario Kart... The universe of Dreamworld pales in comparison. The variety of stages, characters, and familiar elements feels limited at this time. I hope it can be expanded in update DLCs to add more stages/other well-loved characters like Kine, Adelaide, and newer antagonists from Forgotten Land! ❌ Seriously, who thought Cappy was a good idea as a playable character? ... show more

  • A quality game from Sakurai and his team!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
In terms of the Switch 2 exclusives that released in 2025, this game along with DK Bananza are worth the $70 price point. Sakurai and his team did an excellent job at modernizing the Kirby Air Ride gameplay formula that worked so well during the GameCube generation. City Trial is one of the funnest side modes that I’ve ever played in a video game. Just like with Smash Ultimate, I will be putting hundreds of hours into this game because I know that it will be a blast of a time. As soon as I finished watching the first Kirby Air Riders focused direct, I knew that this game would be something incredibly special. From the way Sakurai was gushing about the game, I knew that I would be in for a treat as soon as I purchased the game. I “bit the bullet” on this game and paid the full MSRP, but this was one of those cases where I knew that the game would be quality, and I wanted to support Sakurai and his team who worked really hard to make this game a reality. This is what good video games are all about at the end of the day: fun; and Kirby Air Riders had that in spades! Definitely recommend this to those who want a unique racing experience with all of the extra content. If the $70 price tag is too high, wait until a sale or look elsewhere to get the game for less. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Fun racing game with the best parts is the side modes.
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Fun game, mostly play it for the city trial mode, but the other modes are pretty great as well. With this, Mario kart, and Sonic crossworlds, the switch 2 is an amazing platform for kart racers!

  • A Perfect Mix of Fun, Speed, and Kirby Charm!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
If you’ve been waiting for Kirby to finally return to high-speed racing, Kirby Air Riders on the Switch 2 is absolutely worth. This version feels like everything fans loved plus modern upgrades that make it even more addicting. Gameplay: The controls are smooth and super responsive on the Switch 2. Flight and drifting feel better than ever, and each machine has a real personality. Beginners can pick it up easily, but there’s enough depth for competitive players too. The new Boost Glide mechanic is insanely satisfying once you learn it. Graphics & Performance: This game looks beautiful. The colors pop, the worlds feel alive, and the frame rate stays buttery smooth even with tons of action on the screen. Kirby games always look good, but this is easily one of the best-looking ones on the Switch 2. Modes & Content: There’s a ton to do. Classic Race Mode, Battle City, Time Trials, and the new Co-Op Challenge Mode make this feel like more than just a racing game. The online matchmaking is fast, and the local multiplayer is perfect for parties or playing with the kids. Fun Factor: Honestly, this game is pure joy. It has that classic “just one more race” feeling, whether you’re unlocking new Air Riders or trying to beat your best times. It’s one of those rare games that’s great for both casual players and serious competitors. Final Verdict: If you own a Switch 2, this is a must-have. Fun, polished, nostalgic without feeling outdated, and packed with replay value. An easy 5/5. ... show more

  • Kirby Air Riders for Nintendo Switch 2
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Charming High-Speed Fun With a Few Bumps Along the Way Kirby Air Riders on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a joyful return to the skies, delivering a colorful and energetic racing experience that feels right at home in Kirby’s whimsical universe. It’s a game packed with charm, smooth performance, and plenty of lighthearted fun, even if it doesn’t quite reach the depth of other racing titles. Gameplay & Controls The controls are simple, responsive, and easy to learn — exactly what you’d expect from a Kirby game. Taking flight on Kirby’s various air ride machines is satisfying, with drifting, boosting, and soaring working together to create a fast, breezy racing style. Kirby’s copy abilities make races feel dynamic and unpredictable. Grabbing a power-up mid-air and instantly changing your strategy keeps you on your toes, and it gives each race a unique flavor. While the gameplay is very accessible, some veteran players may find themselves wishing for slightly more depth in the mechanics. It’s fun, but at times a little straightforward. Visuals & Performance The game absolutely pops on the Switch 2. Colors are vibrant, the skies look beautiful, and each track has a unique visual identity that feels full of life. Performance is smooth, with stable frame rates and very fast load times, which makes jumping into race after race effortless. Kirby’s animations, the special effects from abilities, and the general presentation make the game feel cheerful from start to finish. Game Modes & Replayability There’s a nice selection of modes to explore: a main Grand Prix, time trials, local multiplayer, and online racing. The Grand Prix offers enough challenge to stay engaging without becoming frustrating. Time trials are great for players who like to chase perfection, and multiplayer adds a lot of replay value. The one drawback is that the number of tracks feels a bit limited. They’re fun and well-designed, but after a while you may find yourself wishing for just a few more environments to keep things fresh. The online features are solid but somewhat basic, lacking long-term incentives or more advanced matchmaking options. Sound & Atmosphere The soundtrack is upbeat and perfectly suited for fast, airy races. Sound effects are satisfying, from the rush of wind to Kirby inhaling abilities mid-flight. It all comes together to make each race feel energetic and cheerful. Final Thoughts Kirby Air Riders is a delightful, family-friendly racer that shines with personality, smooth controls, and beautiful visuals on the Switch 2. It’s not the deepest or largest racing game out there, but it’s undeniably fun, inviting, and packed with charm. If you’re looking for something light, fast, and colorful — especially for multiplayer sessions — this is an excellent choice. Final Rating: ★★★★ — A fun, charming ride with room to grow. ... show more
