Amazing! I’ve heard many mixed reviews most likely made by people who don’t want to invest even more money in the Switch 2 but this thing rocks! It takes Mario Party Jamboree TV to the next level. I think there is something instinctually satisfying about seeing yourself in a video game on TV. I don’t know who all reading this is old enough to remember Nick Arcade but this is the 90s Nick Arcade dream come to life. There is some bunk info out there saying that any old webcam will do on the Switch 2. Yes, you can use any old webcam on the Switch 2 but it will have very limited capabilities. You need a USB C connected compatible camera to get the full potential of game interaction and chat features. I decided to go first party Nintendo because it requires no research, the price was right, and it is the highest quality of all the options in my opinion. I'm not about to put my Switch 2 in "brick" jeopardy by adding in non Nintendo peripherals, so I got this guy mainly to try out the camera abilities in my new games. It's pretty robust for its size and the games I've used it with have a decent a ability to recognize what they're seeing, so I'm overall pretty pleased with it. It also was super easy to set up with the Switch 2 walking me through most of it. Fun and Versatile Accessory That Adds Real Creativity to the Switch 2 Experience The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera is a welcome addition to the console, and after spending some time with it, I can confidently say it adds a lot more depth and versatility than I expected. Installation is quick and straightforward, and the camera feels well-integrated with the system’s interface. Once connected, it immediately opens up several new ways to interact with games and apps, from AR features to photo modes to fun creative tools that weren’t possible before. Image quality is respectable for a gaming accessory. In good lighting, photos and video look sharp enough for casual play, and facial tracking and motion detection work smoothly during games that rely on them. I especially enjoyed experimenting with AR mini-games and creative apps that let you add effects, filters, or animations. It’s the kind of accessory that encourages you to explore and try new things on the console, which is something the Switch 2 already does well. That said, it’s not without its flaws. Low-light performance is noticeably weaker, with grainy images and slower focus. The camera also isn’t designed for more serious photography or video capture, so anyone expecting high-end results may feel underwhelmed. The hardware itself feels lightweight—fine for everyday use, but not the most durable if dropped or handled roughly. I also think Nintendo could have packed in a few more advanced features or a more powerful lens to make it feel more future-proof. Still, despite those drawbacks, the overall experience is genuinely enjoyable.
