  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Nintendo Switch 2
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
An Epic, Action-Packed Masterpiece That Brings Hyrule to Life Like Never Before. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is an absolute triumph and easily one of the standout titles on the Nintendo Switch 2. From the moment the opening cutscene played, I knew this game was going to be something special. It flawlessly blends the exhilarating, high-energy combat of the Warriors series with the emotional depth, lore, and world-building that Zelda fans love. The result is a game that feels massive, meaningful, and endlessly fun. The story is gripping from start to finish. It dives deep into the events surrounding Hyrule’s darkest hours, giving fans a fresh, dramatic perspective on the legend. The narrative is filled with powerful moments, surprising twists, and heartfelt scenes that genuinely add weight to the larger Zelda timeline. The cutscenes are beautifully animated, and the voice acting gives every character—from the returning heroes to the new faces—life and personality. Gameplay is where Age of Imprisonment truly shines. The Nintendo Switch 2 delivers smooth, polished performance, allowing for huge battles with dozens of enemies on screen without any slowdown. Every character has their own fighting style, move set, and ultimate abilities, making combat feel dynamic and exciting no matter who you choose. The combo system is satisfying, the controls are intuitive, and chaining attacks together feels incredibly rewarding. There is also an impressive amount of content. The campaign is long, detailed, and full of memorable battles, but the side missions, character challenges, and upgrade paths give you countless reasons to keep coming back. Building and customizing your favorite fighters is addictive, and discovering new weapons, skills, and strategies keeps the game feeling fresh well past the credits. Visually, the game is stunning. The revamped Switch 2 hardware really shows off the environments—lush forests, crumbling battlegrounds, ancient temples, and fiery strongholds all look more detailed and vibrant than ever before. The soundtrack is equally impressive, mixing epic orchestral tracks with remixed Zelda themes that perfectly match the intensity of every battle. Overall, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is everything fans could hope for: exciting, emotional, content-packed, and absolutely gorgeous. It honors the Zelda legacy while delivering fast-paced action that’s impossible to put down. This is a must-own title and a shining example of what the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of. A perfect 5-star experience. ... show more

  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment - The Epic War That Deserved to Be Told
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
As a player who often only has short bursts of time to enjoy an adventure, 'Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment' has been the ideal discovery. This hack-and-slash game for the Nintendo Switch 2 not only masterfully expands the lore of Tears of the Kingdom but also offers addictive, straightforward, and tremendously satisfying gameplay that completely respects your time. 🎮 Gameplay: Pure and Simple Action (In the Best Sense) The game takes the proven Warriors series formula – facing hundreds of on-screen enemies – and infuses it with the essence of Hyrule. What is most appreciated is its immediate accessibility: · Intuitive Combat: With just a few buttons, you can perform spectacular combos. Each character (from Zelda and Rauru to the intriguing Knight Construct) has a unique style, but the learning curve is almost non-existent. Within minutes, you feel powerful. · Clear Progression: Missions are designed for 15-30 minute sessions. You have a primary objective, some optional secondary ones, and a tangible final reward. It's the perfect model for playing "one quick mission" and feeling like you've made progress. · Hybrid Mechanics: The inclusion of Zonai Devices and the new Sync Strike system (inspired by the hand touch from Tears of the Kingdom) adds a tactical layer without complicating the experience. The feeling of coordinating with another character to launch a joint attack is simply epic. 📖 Story and World: A Gift for Fans If Tears of the Kingdom left you wanting to know more about the enigmatic Imprisoning War, this game is your answer. The plot, supervised by the original Zelda team, brings legendary figures like King Rauru and Queen Sonia to life and provides context. Seeing the origins of Hyrule, meeting the ancestors of the current races, and discovering forgotten secrets (like the tragic history of the Forbidden Constructs) is a constant narrative delight. Mild Spoiler Warning: The game takes interesting creative liberties, such as including a playable Korok (Calamo) and his mechanical companion, which add a fresh and touching touch to the war. 🕒 The "Limited Time" Factor: Its Greatest Virtue This is the point where 'Age of Imprisonment' shines brightest for someone like me (and like you, from what you mentioned): · You can save and quit practically at any time. · Farming and character upgrades are quick and rewarding. There are no cumbersome progression systems. · The "just one more mission" syndrome is very real. It's easy to say "I'll just do one quick one" and end up playing for an hour, but always with the feeling of having completed concrete gameplay cycles. ⚖️ Points to Consider No game is perfect, and it's fair to mention that some critics noted that certain missions can become repetitive if played in very long marathons. However, this "flaw" becomes a virtue when your way of playing is through short, spaced-out sessions. The clear and predictable structure then becomes an advantage. ... show more

  • Hyrule Warriors is the best new game on Switch 2
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
Hyrule Warriors continues an amazing streak of high quality licensed Zelda musou games. I’ve loved my time with all the Hyrule Warriors games and this one is the best. Gone are the performance hiccups of the switch 1. This is all out action, and an engaging side story in the world of Tears of the Kingdom. Great characters with unique movesets invite you to approach executing combos and specials in unique ways. An awesome switch 2 beat ‘em up. ... show more

  • Great warriors game!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
Another great warriors game, runs flawlessly even with 2 players. Fun story, even though I prefer the more hype fan service of age calamity.

  • Age of awesomeness! Age of awesomeness!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
If you enjoyed the first to Hyrule Warriors games then you'll love this one. Better graphics of course as it being on switch 2. Great for any dynasty warriors fans as well. Smooth gameplay.

  • Great zelda series game.

A lot of fun. Not as fun as the last one, but zelda at its best.

  • Great game that improves on its predecessors
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
I don't have a ton of time to game these days, but the game absolutely delivers. They've done a great job upgrading the combat and general mechanics with each of these games, and the story is a considerable step up from Age of Calamity. Normally I'd advise skipping these if you don't like musou games (waves of enemies and all that), but I think this one offers enough to a general Zelda fan to be worth the money regardless. Difficulty is a little inconsistent and some bosses are a little over-difficult compared to the rest of the game imo, but it's fun. ... show more

  • This game deserves more recognition
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
I honestly cannot understand why this game has been left in obscurity. It is understandable that, as a Warriors game, it wouldn't pull in as many fans of the Zelda series as a mainline game, but this game is a jewel on its own. Addressing the elephant in the room, yes, the cutscenes show that this game was originally being built for Nintendo Switch 1, and as such, the framerate on the cutscenes feels slow when compared to the actual game. Outside of that, said cutscenes look beautiful, and move the story along beautifully. There are some scenes that were pulled from Tears of the Kingdom, but I honestly don't think that's such a bad thing, because said scenes have all been expanded, allowing us to see more of what happened before, and after what we were able to see on TotK. Finally, there are only a handful of known characters, while the rest are all new for this game, but again, I fail to see how that can be considered "bad" by anyone. The game moves at a constant 60 frames per second, controls feel sharp and responsive, and while it has some elements from Age of Calamity reused, said elements have been improved upon, and it makes things feel more like a war. The map, sadly, looks a bit dull due to its coloring, but it reflects well that we are using the Purah Pad, and its colors and features are not as vibrant or detailed as the Sheikah Slate before, and add to that fact that Zelda is in a very distant pad, so the Purah Pad needed tweaks and updates to it. Unlike in AoC, the map will show you segments that have been captured by Ganondorf, and you need to reclaim the terrain via side missions or main missions, and there are missions where you need to defend the areas you reclaimed, BUT you have a certain amount of time (counted down with every battle you get into) to defend your territory. Areas taken by the enemy lock out features and facilities until you can free them again. While all characters have their own unique way of fighting, and speed of movement, they ALL attack fast and furiously, unlike the prior game where some characters attacked too slowly to make a difference, or too fast to keep up (the latter I did not encounter in said prior game). There is no character that feels too weak or pointless to use, but I WILL be honest with you, there are too many characters after a while, and despite being a delight to play as them all, it is tiring to keep them all at a level balanced with your highest leveled fighter, even with the "Training Facility" where you spend rupees to level characters up, which in retrospect, makes it harder to connect to these characters. The number of enemies that can appear on the screen is crazy amazing, but even so, there are still moments where additional enemies appear out of thin air after you've cleared the field of around 30 others, which feels like a shame. Since I played after the updates, I do not know just how easy this game was before; what I do know is that now, if you dare play on Hard Mode, you WILL be tested thoroughly, as the game will force you to manage your item inventory so you can survive the powerful bosses that await you at the end of the main story levels. Normal mode can feel too easy after playing Hard Mode, but for people like me whom don't have time to spend repeating levels to try and do better for those end-stage bosses, Normal is key. I honestly think this game deserves far more recognition than it currently has, but it is what it is. Sad to say it is shorter than Age of Calamity, but Age of Imprisonment makes up with its increased difficulty (after updates), and extra missions. I highly recommend this to anyone that loves FAST combo hack-and-slash action gaming! ... show more
