I really like this lamp. And while it was a little more than I wanted to pay, it definitely is a quality product and gives off great light without being glaring. The lamp came with clear instructions for installation and was easy to install. The cord covers were unexpected and added a nice touch. The swivel part was a little stiff, but after a few times moving it back and forth, it was fine. Their customer service is phenomenal! I lost a small piece while moving the lamp to another wall. When I contacted the seller, they sent me the piece right away without charge. When the envelope arrived, there was a hole in the padded envelope and the smaller plastic Ziploc baggie inside (the piece was missing). When I contacted them, they sent another replacement right away (they actually sent 2 of the pieces)!! I can't commend the customer service enough.     • A snap to install and extremely flexible in its presentation for use.

Well packed and ready for either on box with in wall wiring or with pre-attached cord for external wiring, this lamp gives good flexibility. While furnished with a harp (the brace about the bulb for shade) and shade, the 2 1/4" fitting base about the bulb might even be modified for a globe from below to convert it from a shade lamp, though the fitting region is a bit shallow for that form of use. The base plate, when attached via the wall plate/wall box cover is fitted to whichever jucture type, further management of the lamp installation is almost intuituve. The unit looks fine, appears durable and limited use so far shows no problems. LED bulbs are accepted to save money in energy costs. I find little, if anything to address criticism with the fixture. The dealer, Kira Home, has given a warning message to work the hinging mechanism a bit before installation. Perhaps this is required for some units, but no such a practice was required for my unit which did not appear in the least stiff or difficult to manipulate. ... show more

The lamp functions just as I had hoped and mechanically is very smooth in movement. It gives me light where I want it and the right amount with a 3 way bulb installed. I used a led 3 way bulb but had to put it in before the lantern was put on. My husband said the installation is easy if you can hang a curtain rod or picture. I was not sure this would work out well- when there are so many moving parts things can be loose and wobbly and fall apart easily. Not this. The joints are high quality, the shade sits securely and level, the wall plate doesn't budge. Also pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to install, instructions were clear and easy to follow. My only complaint is the cord covers. I had trouble installing it perfectly straight/level from the wall plate and therefore it is at risk for popping off. If it falls off then oh well, still extremely happy with how it looks. ... show more

This lamp was purchased to replace an existing swing arm lamp that had died. The wall installation uses a mounting plate that is really intended for use with a ceiling junction box. To use it would have required drilling three clearance holes in the wall (for me a wood post). I would never mount a lamp using this method and was ready to head to the hardware store for a better mounting plate, but checking first, I found the mounting plate for the old lamp, though a bit oversized, could be adapted to mount the lamp, and that is what I did, and I avoided having to do any new work on the wall. The channels for hiding the cord are kind of bulky and clumsy looking, so I haven't used them. More stylish lamps like this put the cord in a metal tube that hangs against the wall. My old lamp had this, but I couldn't figure out how to reuse it. The lamp looks OK on the wall, and I can live with the cord just hanging there. I didn't find the arms overly stiff and it works OK. For the price, I was expecting a heavier duty construction. The lamp is just as flimsy as lamps you can get for half the price or less elsewhere and the shade is adequate but not high quality. I probably wouldn't buy one again, but I needed the old lamp replaced, and this was similar in size and style and got the job done, so I am not completely dissatisfied. I would have rated it lower if I had actually had to go buy additional hardware to install it correctly without messing up the wall. ... show more

This product is not well engineered. Firstly, the wall plate screws for anchoring the base plate to the wall plate have rounded heads which prevent the wall plate from being properly flush with the wall and cause the plate to bend when tightened. Second, the wiring for the lamp is bunched up in such a way that it's difficult to move it out of the way when connecting the screws through the holes on the base plate and get the base plate to stay flat. Third, there is no kind of backing or seal around the sharp edge of the square base plate, so it cuts into the wall and can cause scratches and damage if you're not careful when mounting. Fourth, the mounting plate holes for the anchor screws and/or drywall anchors are not large enough for the provided screws to fit, nor are the provided screws long enough to reach the stud. I had to find screws from my own stash that were slim enough to fit through the small holes. Fifth, the little decorative cap washers didn't come with seals to prevent them from being shaken loose every time someone adjusts the lamp, so they have to be re-tightened every time. Sixth, the switch for turning on the lamp is an '80's/'90's design made for those old 3 stage lamps where you turn it once-it turns on the first bulb, turn it again and the other bulb comes on, then it turns off with the third turn. Since this is only a single-bulb lamp, you have to turn the wobbly switch twice for on and twice for off. Overall it looks decent once mounted and works for its intended purpose, but the workmanship and quality definitely could use some serious improvements. ... show more
