Great way to make kindling for fire pit. So fun, I always end up making way more than I need. Get at least a 4 lb. sledge, I recommend the Fireside Friend.

Thought it would be bigger but, it does the job well. I do struggle using it with "green" hard wood, such as, oak and pecan at which point I have to use a heavier hammer other than my rubber mallet. Dried wood with a moisture reading of 20 and below it splits the logs like going through butter with very little physical effort on the part of human using it. ... show more

This thing is smaller than I thought it was going to be, but is perfect. Busting up smoking wood into smaller slats this is so easy to use and much safer than other ways I've done it in the past. Love this little guy!

I bought this product a couple of years ago, and it is simply terrific. You can bust kindling up in almost no time and it’s very very easy to use. Just get yourself a four pound sledgehammer and make it happen. You’ll have one of these for years.
