  • Great Novelty Item!!!
Great alternative to the ancient yet entertaining 8-ball. Bought two at the same time. One as a birthday present for a friend my age and the other for my 9 year old son. They both like it a lot. It's an original idea and decorative as well. Anticipation increases as you watch it teeter from one answer to another making it quite fun. Like most novelty items it's not made of heavy metal but it is constructed well for the price. They both came in separate boxes with no problems. The one thing that did give me a slight fright was when I opened the first box to see if all was well with the product and this yellow, nearly translucent spider popped out and flew onto the wall. I did have my ceiling fan on so I think that's what made the spider "move" because on closer inspection it was either a great acting arachnid or it was dead. Not to worry though, it was only about a half inch in diameter and since I have owned tarantulas in the past, my shock subsided quickly. Just be careful when opening packages as you never know when foreign creatures might be hanging out. ... show more

  • Fun Office Gadget
I purchased this for my husband so he could have something fun on his desk at work. We tried it out at home before he took it there and, I have to admit, it was pretty fun. Just a few comments about it... Pros: - Good price for something that is essentially a toy. A modern-day version of the 8 ball, but a lot classier looking. - Silver finish makes it look like something for an adult rather than a child. - Nice size. Not too small...doesn't tip over at the first touch. Not too large...doesn't take up too much space on a desk. - Adds a little fun to an otherwise usual day. We liked coming up with random questions for it. Cons: - Not made of heavy metal. The base is somewhat hollow and relatively lightweight. Due to the price, I wasn't too surprised. - Possibility of the silver finish flaking off. Hasn't happened yet, but since it's plastic in some parts it might. - Not completely random. The magnet seemed to be attracted a little more to some replies than others. But since I'm not using this as a true deciding factor in all life questions, not a big deal. A cool little gift for my husband. It would probably make a great stocking stuffer as well for young adults starting their first desk jobs. ... show more

  • A no BS review - (Kikkerland Magnetic Decision Maker)
Oh this thing! This was my contribution to my family and friend's Secret Santa event last Christmas. I didn't expect much from this and bought it solely for it price. I personally like these kind of toys, my guilty pleasure. Another variation of my cherished childhood magical 8-Ball. The Kikkerland Magnetic Decision Maker was a hit among everyone at the party surprisingly and was responsible for a ton of laughter. From the dumbest of questions to the most serious of questions it was equally amusing It's cheaply built, sure. But who cares! It brought laughter for a very important day. Can't speak of it's durability as someone took it home with them at the end of the day. Don't be a snob, man. It'll be a hit. ... show more

  • Meh - overpriced cheap fun, but the kids love it!
It is just what it looks like, but very small, cheap and plastic. Looks bigger in the photo and looks metal, so it looks decent sitting on a desk or shelf from a few feet away, but would have expected to find this in the 99-cent store rather than for eleven bucks online. You lightly swing the ball and it loops around for a few seconds like a tire-swing before magnetically jerking between a few answer options, usually breaking back and forth between a few options for 5-10 seconds before zeroing in on one. Sometimes even jumps unexpectedly at the last second, which is amusing. Works well overall, but you may have to adjust (bend) the wire hanger just a hair to get it to randomly bounce between magnetic answers and randomly assign an answer. Also, there are three-triangulated felt feet on the bottom, but it would balance better if it had four. Great fun for kids, though! Bought this for my 11-year old, who will keep it on his desk. He and his brother have used it DAILY since opening it on Xmas. Box falls apart and has no structural protection, but fortunately Amazon packed it well with lots of bubble-air bags. This will get its moneys-worth in use ... heck, it already has! Just wish I could have found one that was a little bigger and better quality. Would have paid double for that... ... show more

  • Delightful!
I saw one of my coworkers had this, and decided to take a look at getting one for myself. It's a very fun desk-toy, and conversation piece. It operates via a magnet. I recommend tightening the wires that hold the pendulum in place to customers so that it doesn't come undone during transport. Again, this is an absolutely delightful device! ... show more

  • Changed my life! Changed my life!
If you are anything like me, then you struggle with the daily plight of making difficult decisions. Some decisions are small like deciding whether to eat out today or not (Ask a Friend), others are more consequential, like deciding whether to break up with your girlfriend or not (Definitely). BUT ever since I bought the Magnetic Decision Maker, my life has become infinitely simpler and just better overall. Now the stresses of making life decisions, no matter how big or small, are a thing of the past! No longer do I have to debate if I should accept a specific job offer (Try Again) or if I should finally pursue my lifelong dream of owning a convertible Porche (Yes). I have even started taking the Decision Maker with me when I go out. Now when I go out to a bar and want to talk to a cute girl, I no longer have to work up the courage or wonder if it’s a good idea. I simply ask the Decision Maker if I should ask this girl if she wants to take a ride in my new Porche Boxster (No Way)! In summation, GET THIS PRDUCT! It will literally change (and control) your life and allow you to finally say goodbye to the tedium that is free will! ... show more

  • Better than Dr. Phil...
This is a quality piece of office gadgetry that is fun to play with and display. One point worth mentioning...the black base cover with wording is a sticker, not engraved, so this does take away from the executive-ness of the item, but also explains its low price tag. I now have purpose and direction in life...as least until the ball settles on my next choice.... Edit 5/31: I just reordered this to give out as gifts and they have replaced the metallic finish base with a white plastic base. It's still cool but not as professional ... show more

  • Fun little gift item
this is very cool - I can't tell how it works, but the pendulum swings around erratically so you're always surprised where it lands. A more adult version of the Magic 8 ball. 4 stars (rather than 5) because it's cheapy plastic. Still works well, but if you're thinking it's like the metal clacker balls, it's not. This is all lightweight plastic, even the ball. But OVERALL, a fun toy - fun gift, was good for a teen. ... show more
