My son and I just downsized into a 2 bedroom apartment and the $600 bar stools we had were way to tall so I ordered these. They are exactly what I expected at this price point. They aren’t $600 bar stools but they don’t look cheap visually and are actually more comfortable than I thought they’d be. Whether they stand up to a 16yr old boy over time remains to be seen. I think they are fine for our needs. Also they were super easy to assemble - DONT FORGET TO TAKE THE CAP OFF THE ADJUSTABLE PIECE LIKE I DID! Had to disassemble the first one to get the cap out.

These MODERN LOOKING stools are strong and support my 270 pounds with ease. I sat atop them and used the release lever to test them - they responded perfectly! I then tried wobbling on them and they resisted quite effectively, staying upright and keeping me safe. The stretchy vinyl covering on the seat area offers the opportunity to easily custom-cover them as well: You could buy some stretchy vinyl and replace the present covering with a matched color to whatever you choose. I may choose to do so in a few months after giving myself a chance to evaluate these. I absolutely love the fact that I can easily do so (the top plate you sit on looks like it can be removed via a few screws on the underside and then re-covered). Perhaps they could even even be upholstered in another way too (if so desired). Presently, I do not anticipate the need as they look good, but I may since my kitchen is a little more contemporary. Finding stools that are the proper height for everyone is a great accomplishment, and these fit the bill! The only characteristic that I would prefer that they did not have was the flat black finish on the stand which shows dirt more readily. These will force me to clean a little more often (not a problem). I may paint them a different color in the future. I really do love that these could be customized with great ease if so desired (but still look great without the customization). Overall, these are SURPRISINGLY STRONG AND WELL-CONSTRUCTED.

These stools have a superb hydraulic system. It's operated smoothly, yet it's strong and sturdy. I got this to pair them with a set of real wood ones made by the same company. However, I did not like that much the simulated wood in something that feels like a rubbery film. Attached a second picture of the real wood surface for comparison purposes. They do feel a little bit more comfortable than the wooden ones probably because of the seat design and finish. But I prefer the real wood ones. The stools are ok, just wonder how durable is the chair, too much plastic. They are very easy to assemble. Please make sure to remove the plastic cap before assemblying the hydraulic post. I forgot this time ( have assembled a few and never made the mistake). If you do make the mistake is not a big issue. I used a big flat screwdriver and pressure on it to get it off because it gets stuck inside the post and the lever would not work the hydraulic properly.
