Frequently asked questions

The KICKER 48TRTP122, with its 12-inch thin down-firing design, is versatile enough to fit in a variety of vehicles, from compact cars to larger SUVs and trucks. Its compact size makes it ideal for fitting under seats or in tight spaces where traditional subwoofers might not fit.

Yes, the KICKER 48TRTP122 can be used with a variety of amplifiers, but it's best matched with an amplifier that supports a 2-Ohm load. Ensure your amplifier can handle the subwoofer's power requirements for optimal performance.

The passive radiator in the KICKER 48TRTP122 helps enhance bass response without the need for additional air space or a larger enclosure. It allows the subwoofer to produce deeper, more powerful bass compared to traditional sealed or ported boxes in a compact form factor.

Installing the KICKER 48TRTP122 involves connecting it to your vehicle's audio system's amplifier, ensuring proper wiring for the 2-Ohm impedance, and securely mounting the enclosure to prevent movement. It's recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions or consult a professional installer for the best results.

  • I love it!
I love it! Not earth shattering but it does shake my mirrors. Good, loud, clean bass that does stand out. Really good for shallow mount. Running ALPINE S-A60 monoblock at 400w or 600w (I forget) 2ohms. Doesn't rattle one bit. If you get any rattling it's not the sub. Check for loose things in the car and adjust your acoustic treatment. Treatment really does make a huge difference. Also, I sat the unit on top of some small pieces of 3 inch thick acoustic foam. Not only did that stop the rattling but the extra height between the cone and cargo bay floor in my SUV gives this the perfect amount of room to breathe and I get a much deeper, richer bass as a result. ... show more

  • True BANG for the buck
This bass box is magnificent. Sound quality is fierce and the design is perfect for small enclosures. The passive radiator makes all the difference in getting those low frequencies. I had a 12” Memphis Audio sub in a non ported box and this one sounds way way better and has a smaller footprint. Best money ever spent for this unit. ... show more

  • Sounds great and fits well.
This sub box packs a good punch. Previously I had a larger enclosure and this one sounds just as good but takes up much less space.

  • Surprisingly very good sound quality
Surprisingly very good sound quality. Also the box is very small, clean, and seems durable. I don't like the price. I think its should land in the 250$ zone. I would recommend if its on sale.

  • Less than 2 months and already blown
Have had it for a couple months hooked up to 500 w rockville with matching ohm..... 2 weeks ago started sounding funny now sounds like a blown speaker. This was my first speaker based on recommendations from Friends on a kicker and I am not very impressed my Rockville is still sounding really really good. ... show more

  • Clear Quality Bass
I started off with a 15-inch ported subwoofer from Skar Audio but it took up too much room so I needed to replace it eventually. So I bought this kicker subwoofer to still get my bass fix. Right away I noticed I needed to tune my equalizers, crossovers, and timings as it wasn't really blending that well with my 500w 6.5" front speakers. I spent about a week tweaking it while I went to work until I finally hit the sweet spot for my crossovers. I let my front speakers cut off at around 65-70hz and the subwoofer do all the work from 32hz to 63hz. It's recommended that the packaged is tuned to 35hz for clarity sake. My old ported box had some like 25hz tuning. Anyways, I noticed I was missing that deep bass that my old subwoofer would give me. Of course, that's the trade off for going with a smaller box and one that was closed for space convenience. Once everything was setup, it took me awhile to adjust to the sound clarity of an enclosed subwoofer. Kick drums are so responsive and clear that it made my tweeter sound a bit harsher. So My old spl set up used to round out those high frequencies. Now those high frequencies are more pronounced so I had to adjust them to be a bit lower and cut down on some of the higher frequencies on my equalizers. That seem to do the job and my music sounds so much more natural and super clear! I am starting to hear things in music I never heard before. Quite impressive. This subwoofer really does its best to emulate deep bass with great accuracy. 4/5 stars imo ... show more

  • Buy this if you must have a small foot print
I have an amp rated 400 watts RMS, but when tested, it pushes about 500 watts RMS... and these speakers will clip if i turn the amp half way up and crank up the volume on the radio.. so they honestly can only handle about 300 watts rms at 2 ohms. Be careful how much power you deliver as that will decrease the life of these speakers. The foot print is small in my truck, and this sub box fits in the back of my RZR. If you want a small footprint in your trunk, this is the best small foot print you will get. Speakers are bassy but not loud. You have to feel the speaker move to find a sweet spot where you wont pop it and lose your money. I would recommend these for a small car. A little on the expensive side, but you are paying for the small footprint. 2 12 inch speakers in a normal box is 3 times bigger than this. ... show more
