Frequently asked questions

The KICKER 48TRTP122, with its 12-inch thin down-firing design, is versatile enough to fit in a variety of vehicles, from compact cars to larger SUVs and trucks. Its compact size makes it ideal for fitting under seats or in tight spaces where traditional subwoofers might not fit.

Yes, the KICKER 48TRTP122 can be used with a variety of amplifiers, but it's best matched with an amplifier that supports a 2-Ohm load. Ensure your amplifier can handle the subwoofer's power requirements for optimal performance.

The passive radiator in the KICKER 48TRTP122 helps enhance bass response without the need for additional air space or a larger enclosure. It allows the subwoofer to produce deeper, more powerful bass compared to traditional sealed or ported boxes in a compact form factor.

Installing the KICKER 48TRTP122 involves connecting it to your vehicle's audio system's amplifier, ensuring proper wiring for the 2-Ohm impedance, and securely mounting the enclosure to prevent movement. It's recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions or consult a professional installer for the best results.

  • Sounds great
I have a 2022 ford explorer xlt and it fit perfectly with an amp without losing any space in the back of the truck. Definitely enough sound that comes out of just 1 singular 12” sub

  • Big Sound, Smaller Package
I recently bought a 10” Kicker hideaway sub (model HS10) to replace the gargantuan box loaded with the 12” Kicker I’ve had for at least a decade. Middle age requires more trunk space than I’d anticipated. Who knew? Anyway, that compact 10 sucked. I mean, I knew I’d have to compromise and the hideaway 10 wouldn’t be as good but, I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it turned out to be. It’s a complete letdown and a disgrace to the brand IMO. I did some looking and stumbled onto shallow loaded boxes like this one. Figured it would have to be an improvement over the hideaway 10— I wasn't wrong. This shallow 12 performs nearly as well as the beast in a behemoth box that I’ve moved from trunk to trunk over the years. Fair warning, I’m not a bass head and don’t listen to rap. But, for oi, country, street punk, rock, metal, ska, industrial, and classical? I can certainly attest that the sound is VERY impressive. ... show more

  • Great design, value and ease of use.
The down firing box design, 12" sub and 12" passive radiator compliment each other very well. Great value for what you get! Couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase. Looks and sounds fantastic in my C5 Corvette.

  • Big boom for the price.
Box gives great sound. Paired it up to a kicker 800 watt monoblock. Very clear and saves space. Highly recommended.

  • No good!!
To whom this may concern, About 5 months ago I decided to upgrade my speakers. I went ahead and bought the ones who I thought were the best. I don’t like leaving reviews due to a waste of time to see who would read this, but today I have time to actually sit and vent. These speakers didn’t turn out to be what I expected to sound. I have been having some complications for some time now me thinking that my truck was this issue for it not to sound good or the connection I missed place fixed it a couple times and no use. I decided to go to Best Buy in Lakewood, they advise me that it wasn’t the connections or my truck it turns out the speakers were defective. With that being said im pretty upset and will like to get this resolved.I would like to hear from someone to see how we can resolve this matter. ... show more

  • Hits harder than I expected.
I was a little reluctant to get it because of the size. But it's so damn good. I used it in my rsx and turned down it bumped like crazy. Won't shake the building but will shake the car. Great for cars with not much space, small cars, and trucks. I put a 130 pound robot on it and it simply did not care. Only thing that happened was the carpet getting ripped a little from a jagged edge. ... show more

  • Clear Quality Bass
I started off with a 15-inch ported subwoofer from Skar Audio but it took up too much room so I needed to replace it eventually. So I bought this kicker subwoofer to still get my bass fix. Right away I noticed I needed to tune my equalizers, crossovers, and timings as it wasn't really blending that well with my 500w 6.5" front speakers. I spent about a week tweaking it while I went to work until I finally hit the sweet spot for my crossovers. I let my front speakers cut off at around 65-70hz and the subwoofer do all the work from 32hz to 63hz. It's recommended that the packaged is tuned to 35hz for clarity sake. My old ported box had some like 25hz tuning. Anyways, I noticed I was missing that deep bass that my old subwoofer would give me. Of course, that's the trade off for going with a smaller box and one that was closed for space convenience. Once everything was setup, it took me awhile to adjust to the sound clarity of an enclosed subwoofer. Kick drums are so responsive and clear that it made my tweeter sound a bit harsher. So My old spl set up used to round out those high frequencies. Now those high frequencies are more pronounced so I had to adjust them to be a bit lower and cut down on some of the higher frequencies on my equalizers. That seem to do the job and my music sounds so much more natural and super clear! I am starting to hear things in music I never heard before. Quite impressive. This subwoofer really does its best to emulate deep bass with great accuracy. 4/5 stars imo ... show more

  • The bass is very surprising and clean
Well, I purchased two of these 12" down firing beasts 10 months ago for my 2012 GMC Denali 2500HD, I'm running a Rockford Punch 1000 1bd and to my surprise the bass is very powerful and clean, they compliment the rest of my system in way I didn't believe was possible from speakers like these, it's a pleasure to listen to any type of music on my system with them handling the bass notes. ... show more
