    • Don’t waste money on under the seat or slim amplified subs. Get this instead
I installed this KICKER 12” Comp subwoofer in my 2018 Jeep Wrangler, and I was honestly shocked by the size and weight when it arrived — especially considering it shipped free. The enclosure feels very solid and well-built, not cheap or hollow. The bass performance is excellent. It hits hard and clean, and the difference compared to stock audio is night and day. In fact, it made me realize just how limiting the factory head unit is. The sub clearly has more potential than the stock system can deliver, which pushed me toward upgrading to an aftermarket head unit. I don’t need a crazy competition setup, and this is exactly the right balance. It’s far more durable and better sounding than the small amplified under-seat subs, and it doesn’t take up the entire cargo area. The down-firing design is practical — I can set items on top without worrying about damaging the sub. Installation wasn’t difficult, but it does require some basic understanding of car audio. I recommend pairing this with an aftermarket head unit that has proper pre-outs rather than trying to splice into factory speaker wiring. Once set up correctly, the sound quality is on a completely different level. The only real downside is that to get the most out of it, you’ll want the right amp and head unit — the factory system doesn’t do it full justice. Overall, this is a fantastic option for a daily driver and anyone looking for real bass without sacrificing cargo space or durability. Easy install! My truck already had an aftermarket head unit, so nearly everything was plug and play for me. You get 150 watts with the included 4 ohm down firing subwoofer. I have it installed in a crew cab f250 and it provides plenty of bass. Make sure you set your gain properly, and adjust your Low Pass Filter either through the kicker amp or through your head unit. ... show more
