  • The last headunit I will ever have to buy lol
I bought this mainly for the quality of signal it will provide to the rest of my sound system. So far I have no issues, thought the park sw wire was bad but turns out you have to reset it a few times after you connect it to ground for it to think it's in park all the time. Its fast, very clear and loud, the sound controls options are awesome. Voice recognition is pretty impressive. You can tell it to play I song, and it does, you can tell it to take you somewhere, and google maps gets right on it. I'm using android auto for the first time and this headunit is just flawless with the interface to my phone. I'm really impressed by this unit lol ... show more

  • Horrible Sound Quality.
The head unit has a nice interface and features. Easy to use, setup is easy and has a lot of options. Pretty cool user interface in general. However.... The issue is sound quality. I use an oscilloscope to check for distortion and any volume over 30 is distortion city. This is with no features turned on, a flat EQ, and the gains all set to 0. Pioneer head units will go up to their max volume without distortion. Once you start hitting 28 the sound quality just goes form okay to horrible. I would highly not suggest this to anyone who cares what the sound quality of their system is. I've been installing car stereos for over 20 years, I've seen Jenson head units with better sound output than this. ... show more

  • Beware, Android Auto connect does not work
Radio functions nicely but will not connect to a Samsung 9a or a Samsung 10+ as advertised. The Apple iphone will connect nicely. We chose this radio because it was supposed to work with Android devices via a USB cable and the Android Auto app.

  • Good unit, sounds great. Make sure you use the right usb.
Overall I love tbe unit. I did have some issues with Android auto connecting then immediately dropping. The fix for this was to get a high speed USB 3.1 data cable. After that works as intended

  • Lots of features, but is it worth it?
I purchased this Kenwood to replace the indash stereo on my 2014 Class C motorhome. I wanted to duplicate as many of the features as the original unit that came with the coach. I got most things but one item that i wanted did not work. I wanted to be able to send the DVD signal to the coach TV, allowing others to watch TV as I drove. I wired everything as instructed, ordered the extra cables needed for audio out, video out/in, etc. I ordered a cable to mount the USB car play plug into the dashboard. After everything is wired I cannot get the video to play unless the vehicle is in park and the parking brake is on. I can order another cable to bypass this safety function.... It goes on and on. I have not shelled out for the bypass kit yet, as i am still trying to get the rear screen to work. The unit sounds good, and with all the other adapters I can use APPLE play, XM radio in dash USB. IF you do not need the indash DVD, purchase the model without it. Save more money if you purchase the JVC model of this. (Kenwood and JVC are the same company now). I gave this unit 4 stars based on the expense. A JVC without the CD/DVD would have saved me $150.00 ... show more

  • easy to use and clear picture
I purchased this to replace my system when the laser stopped working on the DVD player. I am much more pleased with this one, much better quality.

  • Easy to set up and program without having to refer back to manual
So far like the unit sounds great in a motorhome without an amplifier, if you like a clean sounding unit this one does the job. If you like window rattling base and sound get a amplifier to go with it.

  • DANGEROUS!
I bought this unit new, in May, 2019. I had to take it back because of a faulty touchscreen interface: it took several attempts before the screen would accept any touch selection. After a month, a new unit was installed. This new one is only marginally better, and I will be seeking to replace it. Making ANY touchscreen selection requires multiple attempts. I was prepared to adapt to a car-media touchscreen, but having to make several attempts to make any selections IS CRITICALLY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. Even my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6 from 2015, instantaneously accepts touchscreen commands. The Kenwood Excelon DDX6906S features multiple audio and video functions and first-rate sound quality & adjustments. Bluetooth, cameras, screen graphics, CD/DVD player and FM tuner are all great. But the lack of tactile differentiation on the few, tiny, too physically similar buttons, plus the frustrating failure of touchscreen response makes this unit unacceptable and defective as an automotive media system. ... show more
