  • Great modern features with a classic look
I decided to swap out the factory radio in my old Toyota pickup because I wanted modern connectivity without ruining the truck's interior vibe. I specifically didn't want a giant touchscreen that would look out of place in an older dashboard; I wanted something that felt tactical and straightforward. This receiver ended up being exactly what I was looking for. The design has a cool, slightly retro style to it, mostly due to the large, central volume knob and the high-contrast display. It fits the aesthetic of an older vehicle perfectly. I also really appreciate that it is a "mechless" unit, meaning it completely ditches the CD player. I haven't used a physical disc in years, so dropping that legacy tech makes the unit lighter and focuses the interface on what actually matters: Bluetooth and digital media. The sound quality is a significant jump up from my previous setup. The audio is clear, and the connection to my phone is instant every time I start the truck. The buttons are large and easy to find without taking your eyes off the road, making the interface very user-friendly. If you want to bring your daily driver into the current decade but prefer physical buttons over touchscreens, this is a smart route to take. ... show more

  • Great SQ!
I was in the market for a good SQ head unit without all the bells and whistles and an actual volume knob. Install was straight forward with no surprises! Sound quality is excellent. Was unable to get it linked to the Kenwood app, but that's fine. It takes a little bit to go through and adjust your sound settings. If you're in the market for a great SQ unit this is it. ... show more

  • Very Satisfied with This Stereo
I installed this stereo in my 1999 Pathfinder and I'm very satisfied with it. It didn’t fit the dash opening perfectly—there’s a small gap at the bottom of the radio—but it still looks great unless someone inspects it very closely. Honestly, it’s not a real issue. Maybe a dedicated kit would fix it, but I’m not concerned. What truly matters is the sound, and this stereo made a huge difference. The audio quality is excellent, and it offers tons of sound calibration options—maybe even more than necessary. The menu is wide and, in my opinion, easy to navigate. I’ve tested various MP3 file formats and they all play without any problems. The volume knob is comfortable and easy to adjust without distraction while driving. Overall, it’s a great product with outstanding sound quality. ... show more

  • Would not buy similar model again.
The unit is very moisture sensitive. My 20 something year old car has good seals around the doors and no moisture problems. Phone rarely ever syncs to the Bluetooth correctly. Phone is a Samsung. Works far better instantly with boss stereo in truck. It's just hit or miss on some of the higher name brands as they are made in different factories and the quality level changes constantly. Kenwood usually is a good brand. ... show more

  • Upgrade the firmware from Kenwood website
Decent unit, but you will need to upgrade the firmware to fix the data reset issue under cold temperatures.

  • Great stereo
Amazing deal for the price. Installed easily. Sounds clear without distorting at higher sound levels. Wired to a 1500w amp with 6x9 4ways and a 15 pioneer subwoofer. Clean and thumps. Has the option to turn off bass to speakers and just have the subwoofer do all the lows. Not alot of useless options on the radio so perfect for me for just needing it to do the basics. Reads my usb with all my music or i can Bluetooth it (does quiet down the audio just a little) able to change the color on the screen. Buttons are simple. Overall happy with this radio. ... show more

  • Good strong sound.
It’s very good. Most importantly, if you use outboard, amplifiers, or a subwoofer, because it’s in the EXCELON line, this unit has a 5 V preamp output, meaning that it is going to play louder and clearer through anything it feeds. Kenwood makes much more expensive stereos, that have lower voltage pre-outputs. For sound quality, this one is a winner. ... show more

  • Great product
Love this radio tons of customizations. No problems but when it gets really cold out the clock resets but other than that it's fine. Powers 4 speakers and a sub. Nice setup.
