Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Kasa power strip generally receives positive reviews, with users appreciating its individual switch for each plug that can also be controlled through Alexa. Customers also find the product handy for controlling lights and for usage in hard-to-reach places. However, some users have faced issues with intermittent loss of contact with the app and a shorter cord length than desired.

Pros

  • 🔌 Individual switch on each plug assists in separate control.
  • 💡 Can be used to automatically time lighting, especially for those who are often away or have hard-to-reach outlets.
  • 📱 Compatible with Alexa for effortless control.
  • 🎄 Great for powering holiday displays.

Cons

  • 🔀 Sometimes loses contact with the companion app, requiring physical resetting.
  • 📏 Cord length is somewhat short, limiting its placement.

Should I Buy It?

With its practical features like individual switch control and Alexa compatibility, the Kasa power strip could be a great addition to any home, especially for those who value automation and remote control or need to reach hard-to-place outlets. However, if cord length is a crucial factor for you, inspect the product specifications before buying. Concerns about occasional loss of app contact might be a potential issue but seem to be infrequent.

  • Nice smart Outlet Strip
They work great, easy to set up in the app for Kasa, nice design, i use them for toaster, coffee maker, crock pot, air fryer, lights; seems to have no problems or disconnection issues. seems to handle pretty good!

  • Easy to use and setup
Device is easy to setup through the app and works perfectly with my home assistant server. Being wifi and not needing a hub or other device to use this is very nice. I like how each plug is individually programmable and it has a manual button for each plug. The USB ports for charging a phone or powering something else is a great little bonus. Now I'm trying to find an excuse to buy another! ... show more

  • The best smart strip
I have multiple of these. They work great. I mainly use them for scheduling and auto shutting off things like TVs and lights. The setup is super easy in there app. And the scheduling and timer are also very easy to set. You can also rename all the plugs and the area and "Home/location" very easily to organize if you have multiple outlets. There is also a favorites section that you can stick your most used plugs into to make it easier to find if you have a lot of plugs. The price is a little more than normal power strips with surge protection. But to get the smart features it's more than worth it and I think a good value. It's also Alexa and Google Home compatible. I recommend getting the strip versus the individual plugs because it's more economical and always better to have more outlets than less. ... show more

  • Works as described
I use this to reboot soundbar tv and roku when it gets buggy. Usually the soundbar doesn't respond. Since the power for these 3 items are hidden, it is easier to reboot from the app which seems to clear the problem. Easy to set up in app and then establish in Google home. Wonderfull product

  • Works well ... nearly all of the time
This smart power strip continues to do what it's advertised to do ... 99.9% of the time. That 0.1% is the problem, but I'll get to that. It worked out of the box using the instructions provided. I downloaded the Kasa Smart app onto my phone, and after setup I was able to name and control the power strip's three outlets (I got the version with three outlets) independently, or combine two or all of them together into a group and control them at the same time. I can also control them with Google Home. It's advertised as also being compatible with Alexa, but I don't have anything with Alexa, so I can't test that firsthand. Each outlet also has a toggle button that allows the user to switch that outlet on or off manually, and each button has an LED that shows whether the outlet is currently supplying power to whatever's plugged into it. This is a bigger deal than one might think at first. Imagine a desk lamp with a chain that can be pulled to turn it on or off, but you can't tell by just looking at it whether that pull-chain switch is on or off. Now imagine that you plug it into this power strip and it doesn't light up. Where's the problem – is the light bulb burned out? Is the lamp turned off? Is the power strip's outlet off? Well, I can eliminate the third question by just looking at this power strip and making sure that the outlet is on, so one pull of the lamp's chain will tell me whether the light bulb is burned out or not. The thing is, occasionally the power strip will just suddenly stop responding to the network. I don't know what causes this, but it will suddenly and silently disconnect; its power light and connection light will say that it's powered and connected to wi-fi, but the app says it can't contact the device. I can still manually toggle the outlets on and off with the buttons, but I can't control it with the app, or Google Home, etc. I can unplug the device and plug it back in, resetting it, and things work again. But I never know when it's going to glitch again, and that unreliability is what gives this device four stars instead of five for me. It doesn't happen every day – it's been weeks since the last time it happened, in fact – but not knowing what caused it or when it's going to happen again adds just enough uncertainty that I can't quite trust it. I'm not going to plug anything into it that might be disastrous if it couldn't be controlled. Very well designed other than that shadow of unreliability. ... show more

  • Must Have Alternative for Smart Bulbs
Smart plugs are a necessity if you don't have a smart bulb, which can get costly very quickly. I live by Kasa smart plugs for outlets in my home that don't have a smart bulb! They're so convenient and easy to set up in the app. I purchased this one for my office to auto turn-on my lamp in the early morning, but also have options to control other plugs (e.g., charger, heating pad, etc.). They don't overheat, and provide a safety mechanism because you can shut off the power if you think you've forgotten to unplug something. The price was definitely worth the money for convenience, peace of mind, and versatility. ... show more

  • 10/10
Works great. It honestly is not that hard to set up. It also has not gotten hot or anything! I currently am using it for my bearded dragons lights and it is amazing! The timer works great and is easy to use the app!

  • Three Devices, One Wi-Fi connection
Before I purchased this Kasa power strip, I considered if three separate Kasa smart plugs would be better; they are not. This has three advantages: The power strip is smaller than three separate devices connected to a power strip. It's easier to setup only one device. The single power strip takes only one wi-fi connection. The latter is important for people with a lot of wi-fi devices. The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip works excellent. Each plug can be controlled individually. I recommend it. ... show more
