Top Amazon Reviews

πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Kasa power strip generally receives positive reviews, with users appreciating its individual switch for each plug that can also be controlled through Alexa. Customers also find the product handy for controlling lights and for usage in hard-to-reach places. However, some users have faced issues with intermittent loss of contact with the app and a shorter cord length than desired.

Pros

  • πŸ”Œ Individual switch on each plug assists in separate control.
  • πŸ’‘ Can be used to automatically time lighting, especially for those who are often away or have hard-to-reach outlets.
  • πŸ“± Compatible with Alexa for effortless control.
  • πŸŽ„ Great for powering holiday displays.

Cons

  • πŸ”€ Sometimes loses contact with the companion app, requiring physical resetting.
  • πŸ“ Cord length is somewhat short, limiting its placement.

Should I Buy It?

With its practical features like individual switch control and Alexa compatibility, the Kasa power strip could be a great addition to any home, especially for those who value automation and remote control or need to reach hard-to-place outlets. However, if cord length is a crucial factor for you, inspect the product specifications before buying. Concerns about occasional loss of app contact might be a potential issue but seem to be infrequent.

  • The best smart strip
I have multiple of these. They work great. I mainly use them for scheduling and auto shutting off things like TVs and lights. The setup is super easy in there app. And the scheduling and timer are also very easy to set. You can also rename all the plugs and the area and "Home/location" very easily to organize if you have multiple outlets. There is also a favorites section that you can stick your most used plugs into to make it easier to find if you have a lot of plugs. The price is a little more than normal power strips with surge protection. But to get the smart features it's more than worth it and I think a good value. It's also Alexa and Google Home compatible. I recommend getting the strip versus the individual plugs because it's more economical and always better to have more outlets than less. ... show more

  • Easy Connection to WiFi
This power strip is perfect for my Christmas decorations that go on and off at different times. I previously used 3 separate smart plugs and needed extension cords to have everything come on or go off when desired. Since each outlet is individually programmable, I use the strip and have a much neater installation. The kasa plugs were very simple to connect to my wi-fi network and I had everything done in under 30 minutes. I highly recommend if you've got 3 adjacent lines that need to be programmed separately. ... show more

  • Requires some understanding of how this device communicates with routers and networks.
I definitely ran into some problems with setting upthis strip, but there is a happy ending due to the help I got from Karen at TP link tech support. The simple instructions that came with the strip were not enough. The issue was that the strip needs 2.4ghz and though my router broadcasts both 5ghz and 2.4ghz via steering, the strip couldn't communicate with the router. On-line threads told me to set up two separate SSIDs, Xfinity said this was not advisable, and the guy at the Xfinity store said it was the only thing that would work. I called Kasa/TP link support and Karen walked me through exactly how to do it, using the TP-link network (not my Wi-Fi network) to set it up. So, it works great and Karen was exceptional tech support. Happy ending, lots of wasted time and frustration beforehand though; not the device's fault, more the incomplete instructions. ... show more

  • This is the controllable power strip you probably want
I love all variants of these TP-Link/Kasa Smart power strips (also a fan of their in-wall outlets, but those have more drawbacks than these power strips). The strips allow for independent control and provide power consumption data for each independent port. Like all these Kasa devices, they're easy to integrate with on your local network using an open-source Python library that gets all the data they collect and allows you to control them from your code. The only things I wish these had are power consumption readings from the USB ports and some USB-C ports. ... show more

  • Working good
Working like it should I use it in my entertainment stand to turn on lights and fans in the cabinet I’ve have other plugs single plugs of this brand so not to have so many smart apps I got this because the app is user friendly, easy to set up & it was easy to connect to my Alexa and works well with it and the other plugs worked so well I figure why not try this and Wala it works like it should I think it’s a tad expensive tbh but again you pay for what you get and this is good quality and it works well with a good user-friendly app so worth it I guess so but still wish it was cheaper I wish the cord was longer though and it was a flat head plug but it’s still a good power strip all in all ... show more

  • Nice Strip, not if you want energy consumption.
So i picked this up, and went by the item description on amazon and didn;t do my due dilligence because i wanted to place the order quickly so i would get it the following morning. I thought this was the power strip that can monitor energy consumption, but this is not that model. I plugged in this strip, made an account and i quickly and easily got this connected to my wifi. the customization on each plug is nice, you can add an icon or image of the appliance plugged into it. but i wasn't seeing the energy consumption. If you want the energy consumption monitoring power strip, you are going to want to look at the HS300 Same thing with the smart plugs, you will need to look at the kp-125. But the app is clean and easy to use, there are cheaper ones out there that can monitor power but i like this kasa app/ecosystem. Also, there is no native Smartthings support, but you can use smartthings via the kasa app, i did that prior to boxing this back up to return it. the only reason i'm returning it is i purchased the hs300 to monitor power of my computers and 3d printer etc. ... show more

  • Works as described
I use this to reboot soundbar tv and roku when it gets buggy. Usually the soundbar doesn't respond. Since the power for these 3 items are hidden, it is easier to reboot from the app which seems to clear the problem. Easy to set up in app and then establish in Google home. Wonderfull product

  • Bigger than expected
After adding this to the Tapo app i was able to link the account to Home Assistant. Each of the 3 outlets can be used independently in HA. Its also very quick and responsive in HA. The strip was bigger than i was expecting. This is not really an issue, it was just unexpected. On the plus side, with the larger size the outlets are spread apart which allows larger plugs to fit next to each other. I am using this outside in a waterproof box to control our holiday inflatables. With the larger size of the strip I did need to get a larger box to fit the strip. Again, not an issue, just something to be mindful of. Even with the strip outside in a box it has been reliable and has had no connectivity issues. ... show more
