I have quite a few of these and they work fine as far as I can tell. I don't have a way to test the surge function. Good length cord. Some animals might try to claw/eat the cloth cover.

I use a white surge strip you can see when you come into the house. It always bothered me so I decided to look for a black one. This is a very good product. Black with green status light. 2 usb plugs 6 power plugs. Highly recommend, good product at a great price.
