  • Great deep fryer
We love this deep fryer because it's virtually mess free. No oil to dump or strain. After frying the basket drains from a holder near the top of the fryer. One commenter said the oil drains down the front when the basket is hanging on the hook. We haven't experienced this. Love that the tub holds all the oil for you for the next time to fry. Temperature seems to be consistent and oil heats rather quickly. ... show more

  • Beware.
I was disappointed that it had the magnetic electric cord component, which procludes pushing the unit back against the wall tightly and comes off occasionally. Followup: when pushed back, the magnetic piece broke off internally and could not be repaired. I had to purchase a new model. As a result, I give this 2 stars. ... show more

  • Fit for purpose!!
I am reluctant about having to write reviews but i just can't help writing this one. I have been using this deep fryer for 3 months now. No regrets at all. Good purchase for its price. So easy to use, easy to dismantle and wash especially for an unsophisticated person like me. Fits well into the dish washer. The oil filter works so well to clean and re-use oil. I think this fryer has raised my expectations. I doubt i can use any other one ... show more

  • Not a well thought out design
The engineers who put this product together are obviously not using this product. Here are some design flaws, to name a few: 1. There is no holder for the basket. If you don't want your basket sitting in the oil, you have to set it on the fryer itself, making a big, oily mess. 2. The fryer max fill line is greater than the oil reservoir capacity. This means that when you drain the oil after a cook, it will overflow. Again, big oily mess. 3. It's noisy. This is more of a personal issue. In order to turn on the fryer heating element, you have to set the timer. It's like an old egg timer and will continuously make a clicking noise while in use. 4. The power cord is way too short. I don't use my fryer underneath the kitchen cabinets, because I want to keep them clean. Thanks to the tiny cord, I had to buy an extension just to plug it in at my kitchen island, literally 18 inches away. 5. The frying compartment has sharp edges. Watch out not to cut your hand when trying to lift it out of the housing. I will not recommend this product. ... show more

  • Well, they tried
Well, used this for the 1st time last night. What a great meal, fried some french fries and wings. Both turned out great. Now for the bad...and there are a couple of things that are bad. 1st is the basket. After the fry, when you lift the basket to drain, the system the new design uses is not a good one. You actually attach it to the front side of the unit with a hook built into the basket. The problem comes from, that those hooks were just sitting in hot oil, so now oil is dripping down the front of the unit. We had to put a folded paper towel under the hook, on the front of the fryer, so oil did not drop all over the front side of the unit. And the placement means it drips DIRECTLY into the dial to drain the oil. So now it is impossible to clean the oil completely off the front of the unit and will always be there. The 2nd, and probably the biggest, problem was the drain. I have owned the Tfal version of this for years, and replaced it with this version. I waited the 5 hours before turning the dial, and waited. It drained SO slow, that after 30 minutes of monitoring the drain I finally left it and went to bed. Sure enough, when I woke up and went to make coffee, I had oil on the counter and floor. The drain system failed. I cannot even confirm the way it failed. It was not overfilled, which I already knew was a thing, since I owned a similar system. It was not hot still, since I waited the recommended 5 hours. And it was not a lot, just enough to for a puddle of oil on the counter, and drip to a nice puddle on the floor, to step in while the lights were off. Super disappointed in this unit. I had high hopes that the new design would solve the problem of the oil capture tank failing, but I was wrong. Damn I hate being fooled. ... show more

  • Defective unit with poor customer service
I ordered this unit on October 3, 2020. After only two uses, the unit no longer would power up. This was disappointing as the unit has some good features that I wanted after our last fryer finally died (from a different vendor). So I contacted Kalorik on February 8 to ask about warranty replacement. They replied asking for my name, contact numbers, email address, mailing address, and proof of purchase. I immediately provided all this information. I noticed they said their response times were slower due to COVID, so I was patient in waiting for their response. I heard nothing, and finally replied for an update on April 12. The normal turn around is 48 hours, and with a delay, I thought that was long enough. They did reply to my update request on April 14, saying they were missing a photo or short video of the problem. This was not requested in the original contact. So I was busy getting a new job and put this off, and finally took a video and sent it to them on May 20. Today, May 25, I get a response that the next step is to send them the defective unit at my expense for the warranty replacement, and after they determine the unit is indeed broken, they will send a replacement. They referenced their warranty replacement documentation of this process. No one had referenced the documentation before, so this was a shock to me. To be made to wait so long without a fryer to where I was so frustrated I ended up waiting longer to get a video is bad customer service. On top of it, if I had to send the unit it, why did I have to take a video? This company has a bad product and I'm not even sure I want to replace it, and their customer service is terrible, even giving grace for delays related to COVID. I want my money back, so I'll be looking for that as an alternative to this terrible process. ... show more
