  • Very wise purchase!
Very beautiful instrument, has a rich sound! I love that it has the frett board marks in the side of the neck too! I bought this do that I could play on my youth group's whorship team. I have a saprano acoustic ukulele, but it was a hassle to preform with because I didn't have a hook up. If you're looking to find a good quality, low budget instrument this is it! Fantastic loud sound! You will want to buy new strings, as per usual when buying an instrument. The plastic discs around the front of the tuning pegs buzz a little, but nothing glue can't fix. Again very pocket friendly, and ear friendly instrument! I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking of buying!! ... show more

  • Returned this item
It looked OK. It didn't have the inside component to connect to an amp. It had the hole on the outside for the wire, but without the connection inside, it will never work. The sound wasn't as what it said it would be. It was an unfinished product.

  • Great Ukulele!
This is a great ukulele altogether. It is well built, sounds rich, and the electronics sound great too! The size is perfect and strings (after being broken in) sound rich and hold well. The EQ is a really nice addition also. I purchased the Uke when it was marked down to $41.99... so at that price I would say it’s an unbelievable deal. Having owned it for a number of months now, I would have paid $89.99 (current price) and still felt it was a great deal. I highly recommend this! ... show more

  • Good Uke for Great Price
I play it with my church band, no issues in the quality of the instrument, it's not falling apart and doesn't have any manufacturing issues. Obviously there's nicer ones out there but great deal for the price. The extra internal hardware muffles the acoustic sound quality, but not a big deal unless you are an sound snob, in which case you wouldn't buy a cheap ukulele anyway, but for normal folks great product! I would get it without the electric pickup unless you have a real need for that capability like I do playing with my church band. ... show more

  • Great entry level Electro-Acoustic Concert Ukulele
I have actually bought two of these. The first had a buzz and I was able to return to the Amazon vendor; and then the second one arrived and has been wonderful. I'm pretty happy with my entry-level Makala Concert Ukulele. Amazon needs to change the picture--as many people have noted that this instrument (MK-CE) isn't pineapple shaped (I didn't expect it to be). It also comes with Aquilla strings, which are a standard in the industry--but not all ukuleles ship with them. There are some folks that like other strings (Worth strings, for example), but for my playing, the Aquillas are good. I did learn that D'Addario EJ88C strings are made for D'Addario by Aquilla, so my next set of strings may be D'Addario. Don't expect to go through strings very fast. I have only messed around with the electric pickup a little bit, and as a passive source, it doesn't provide much sound. I have been trying to figure out how to patch it into my iPad, but my existing guitar connections aren't working. Anyway...it I a relatively inexpensive laminate ukulele in the concert size that sounds good and plays well. If you are tempted by this ukulele, buy it--you can't lose. If you are looking for a solid wood or custom-made ukulele, obviously--this isn't it. I love it, though...so 5 stars. ... show more

  • this ukulele is amazing, especially for the price
okay, this ukulele is amazing, especially for the price. the coloring is drop dead gorgeous, the sound is loud. This ukulele needs no setup whatsoever, the fret's are smooth, aka not sharp, and the action is low. My only issue is that the little plastic thingys under where the strings are threaded on the headstock aren't securely fastened and they rattle around. other than that it's perfect. ... show more
