I purchased the Kala MK-B Makala Baritone Ukulele bundle and have been very pleased with it. For around $140, it represents a very good value. The bundle came with a hard case, a tuner, an extra set of quality strings, and a link to an instructional video, which makes it a nice starter package for someone getting into baritone ukulele. The sound quality is very nice—full and warm, just what I was hoping for in a baritone uke. One thing I really appreciate is the low action. The strings sit close to the fretboard, which makes chords much easier to play and requires less finger pressure. Years ago I tried to learn guitar but eventually gave it up because pressing the strings down hurt my fingers so much that I couldn’t hold the chords properly. This ukulele has been the complete opposite experience. Because the action is low, the chords—including barre chords—are much easier to hold and far more comfortable to play. While planning for a trip, I wanted to take a baritone ukulele with me but was concerned about flying with this one and risking damage. Instead, I bought a budget baritone uke that wouldn’t feel like such a loss if something happened to it during airline travel. After playing that instrument for a few days and discovering its higher action—which made full barre chords difficult for me—I realized what a gem this Makala ukulele really is. The lower action on this instrument makes a noticeable difference in comfort and playability. Overall, the build quality is quite good, but I did notice a couple of small issues. When the fretboard was glued to the body, a little glue appears to have gotten onto the body surface, which caused a small area where the stain looks slightly uneven. It’s a minor cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect the sound or playability. The other issue was that the fret ends were a bit rough along the edges when I first received it. After doing a little research, I found that this can be fairly common with string instruments, especially when they experience changes in humidity during shipping or storage. I purchased a "fret end dressing file" and lightly smoothed the edges, which resolved the issue quickly. Overall, this is a great baritone ukulele with very nice tone, comfortable playability, and excellent value for the price. The Malala uke is a very sweet instrument. My husband has the Lanakai electric baritone. That’s about $500 new. I like the Malala much better. Very mellow deep sounds. I especially appreciate it coming with a hard body case. Great value for the money!

Ukulele came super early and is exactly what I pictured but for some reason it came with two different set of strings and there’s lil scuff marks near the opening and a lil scratch on the side. Of course doesn’t affect the playing of the ukulele but the aesthetic. Update: as I started to tune the ukulele with the tuner, the G string broke immediately ( the tuner said the string was too low) ... show more

Strung incorrectly. Have contacted company to see what they will do. The case is well made but dissappointed with the shoddy string selection and placements. Not graduated correctly. Looks random.
