  • Very nice for the price
I am very happy with this ukulele. It looks and sounds very good. It came with good quality strings and was set up well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good ukulele on a budget. Don't worry about the photo. The photo shows the wood being more red than it really is. I am happy this is the case. ... show more

  • Love this Uke!
I started out with the glossy version of this same Uke (KA-TG) which cost the same (about $100) and is a little fancier (decorated sound hole). After a couple of years, I decided I had proven that I was going to stick with this instrument, so why not get a better one? In short, I got a $400 solid wood Kala and found it didn't sound as good. My chief complaint about the glossy tenor I already had was that I felt the gloss prevented resonance, so I got this here Uke, same but without the gloss. LOVE IT! The sound it warm and vibrant. I can strum more softly and still get sweet subtle vibration. If you're just starting out, and you're a grown-up, get this one... if you're buying for a kid, maybe get the glossy one since it's going to be a sit sturdier. ... show more

  • You Can’t Rebuke This Uke
The Kala KA-T mahogany tenor ukulele is very playable. I think the quality exceeds the price. It’s not top of the line but, it’s exactly what I hoped for in this range. The satin finish is great and preferable to the shiny gloss on other instruments. I didn’t find any snags and seems really smooth. It took about a week for the strings to settle before it held tune. I’m gonna replace them with D’Addario. I own two other Kala products, so I know they make good stuff. This tenor is so much easier to play than a soprano or concert. I’d recommend it. ... show more

  • OK, but SO CLOSE to sending it back
I've just started learning ukulele, and read that for someone with big hands it would be easier to finger the cords on a tenor than a soprano. (I have a Kala soprano that's been stored in a box for over 10 years.). My first impression, this is a really nice instrument. Why did I almost send it back? There is something off in the first fret of the "E" string. Every string on every fret "sings" on the soprano. Every string except the "E" string sings on the tenor. In the end I waffled too long to send it back. I expect that I could find a luthier to look at it, but it would probably cost more than the instrument. The other thing that has happened is that ,with six weeks of daily practice, I seem to be able to finger the cords as well on the soprano as the tenor. Bottom line, I have two Kala ukuleles. The 11 year old soprano - 5 stars. The new tenor - good enough for my amateur use, but the one I grab to play is the 11 year old soprano. ... show more

  • Also has great sound quality for the price
This brand may scare some people away because they are relatively inexpensive, but don't let that happen to you!! My daughter is not gentle with this and it has held up very well. Also has great sound quality for the price. Big thumbs up!!

  • Best ukulele for the money
Although this is an introductory level uke, it is well-made and sounds as good as more expensive models. I also have the soprano version, which is excellent, too, but I prefer the slightly larger model.

  • Great price and product for beginner
I did a lot of research before getting this one for my daughter's birthday. This is the 1st ukulele in our house, and I'm very happy about this one. Reasonable price for an instrument with beautiful sound. Now we've had it for almost 2 years. Both my daughter and I love the sound and would play it from time to time and still keeping a good interest in it. Now I'm moving on to my next ukulele, which is also a KALA. We highly recommend this one as a beginner's choice. ... show more
